Chapter 29 Underground Street Level 1

Gu Li felt that his caution stemmed from his lack of understanding of the alien city. Who would have thought that a place that sounded like a street would actually be located underground!

Fortunately, she had wings. After about ten seconds of descent, Gu Li finally saw the light. She flapped her wings awkwardly and hovered on top of a huge stone statue's head.

She stood still, looking out into the distance at an endless expanse of darkness. While the sun was still rising outside, the underground street remained shrouded in gloom.

Furthermore, Gu Li has reason to believe that this place looks like this almost all day long; apart from the somewhat indistinct edges, all that can be seen are piles of construction debris, with only one or two relatively intact houses occasionally visible in what resembles a street.

Remembering his previous lesson, Gu Li cautiously waited in place for a while, and only after nothing happened did he slowly descend from mid-air.

The claws landed on the ground, stirring up a layer of ash. Gu Li walked slowly through the garbage heap, and did not see a single alien species until she reached the end of the street.

"That's not right. Weren't there plenty of them when we fed them at the port?"

These piles of garbage seemed to be stacked rather unstablely, with bricks and clods of dirt falling down every now and then. Gu Li stood there quietly, breathing in the not-so-fresh air.

The tremors from the ground grew stronger and stronger. She could no longer deceive herself that there was nothing here. Gu Li looked around and quickly dodged behind the garbage mountain.

A pair of eyes, gradually adjusting to the darkness, stared intently at the direction of the entrance. The tremors emanating from the space grew stronger and stronger, followed by a suffocating silence.

From the entrance she had just entered, a series of indistinct, strange creatures suddenly emerged, forming a river that continuously fell from mid-air.

Suddenly, she was overwhelmed by countless bodies moving together, limbs touching limbs, shapeless bodies squeezed into the mass, their movements accompanied by a sticky, forward-moving sound.

Her pupils dilated as she watched the group of aliens, with whom she had once shared a period of feeding, sweep towards the area she had been passing by with a highly purposeful intent.

Weak alien species were constantly trampled into the ground along the way, but they always disappeared there after most of the alien species had passed by.

Gu Li twitched her ears. The sounds of chewing and swallowing hidden among the sounds of movement made her subconsciously hold her breath. Were these things really without reason?

She finally began to wonder why the alien city would go to such lengths to feed such a thing.

The abyssal mutant running in the lead seemed to have discovered something, and turned around with unusual joy, charging towards its own direction.

Gu Li cursed under her breath and immediately flapped her wings to fly up to a certain height. The most important thing now was to find a safe place to use as her base and check her luggage.

Hopefully, Eric has managed to get her something useful.

A mouth, reeking of fresh blood and almost entirely covering the alien's body, lunged at her back. The smell was so strong that Gu Li instinctively flapped her wings to dodge.

He casually spun around and slapped away an octopus covered in mud with one claw, while a tentacle covered in eyeballs attacked from his side and rear, which he kicked away with one foot.

Ten minutes later, with a bunch of endless black alien creatures still blocking my view, my eyes suddenly felt sore.

She now understood why Wang had thrown her in the room and given her a beating—it was all to help her better adapt to this group of irrational and uncivilized aliens!

These inhabitants of the underground city were not only completely black, but also on the verge of physical collapse. Gu Li had already seen more than one of them being bitten by its companions while attacking her, rendering it unable to fight and turning it into a puddle of viscous liquid.

They were irrational, and each one—each one looked exceptionally random. Gu Li blinked her sore eyes, suddenly not wanting to see clearly anymore; it was truly a prolonged torture for her eyes.

These alien species, consumed by their insatiable desires, seemed endless, always appearing from various corners to launch a sudden attack on her, attempting to bite off a piece of flesh from this newcomer.

Gu Li flapped her wings and dodged repeatedly, even the roots of her wings began to ache. She forcefully flapped her wings and lifted them upwards. Apart from a few winged alien species that followed, the rest gradually dispersed after searching around in vain.

She let out a heavy breath, and the suspicion rising in her eyes prevented her from harming the winged creatures.

Gu Li flew away from the block, searching for a place to temporarily settle among piles of construction debris. The buildings that were still intact either had no roof or were just empty frames.

She found a two-story building at the edge of the dark fog, which looked to be the best-preserved house in the area, and eagerly placed her paws against the door.

The sudden, oppressive feeling froze her in place. A hoarse voice came from inside the house: "This is not a place for you. Stay away from my house."

Gu Li was so shocked that his whole body went numb. After a while, he forced himself to move his hands and feet and slowly pulled back a distance.

A hint of surprise flashed in the monster's eyes inside the house. This little guy was actually able to resist his corruption and regain his mobility so quickly. The metal limbs that had been gradually emerging from the darkness retracted.

Gu Li's scales bristled, and only after retreating far enough did he turn around and run away at full speed, even forgetting to spread his wings.

This thing was even more oppressive than when she met the king. It was the first high-level creature she encountered in the alien city that harbored murderous intent towards her.

The already dim surroundings seemed to grow even darker. She suddenly stopped and looked at the swirling black mist on the horizon, which seemed to be churning and moving closer to the center.

Gu Li was truly bewildered. Looking around, he randomly picked a door in a pile of garbage that hadn't completely collapsed, ripped it open with a few loud bangs, and rushed inside.

The black mist outside followed closely, obscuring and swallowing everything outside. Faint cracking sounds could be heard from within the black mist, as if something hard was being snapped in two.

Gu Li probably knew that all the buildings in the underground street had been turned into piles of construction waste.

She waited tensely for a while, and when she realized that the black mist had no intention of entering the house, and that the house, which had collapsed down to only the first floor, was still quite sturdy, her tense back slowly relaxed.

She put down the suitcase she had been clutching tightly as she fled, opened it, and stared into thought at the pair of neatly folded dresses inside.

Did Eric think of himself as someone who had come down for a picnic?
