Since entering President Bellamy's Palace, everything I've seen has had an eerie feel to it.
This dimly lit corridor, filled with an eerie atmosphere, the room behind the door where some kind of monster might be hiding, and the sounds that have been echoing in my ears ever since I saw that maid.
“Let us praise the great Lord. When the Lord comforts me, no slander can anger me. When the Lord touches me, no blade can hurt me. When the Lord looks upon me, no body can hinder my sincere soul.”
Gu Li stood silently in the dark corridor for a while, then suddenly raised her hand and tapped her head, her tone a little impatient: "Can you stop reading?"
The voice, which seemed to come from nowhere, paused for a moment, then sped up even more, repeating itself in her mind.
As the voice continued to repeat, the demonic chanting became a new form of corruption, gradually corrupting the new servant's mind and body, until he willingly offered his life for the Lord.
Gu Li stood at the end of the corridor for a while, the dark wooden door in front of her radiating a strange attraction. Under the gaze of the shadows, she reached out her hand.
Suddenly, a hand gripped her wrist like an iron clamp, and a deep, angry voice came from her side.
"I remember telling you to be careful!"
Hagrid remained fully encased in his armor, gripping Gu Li's wrist as he tried to lead her away: "Even I can't handle what's inside, you'd better behave yourself."
After saying that, he hesitated for a moment: "If you want to know any news, try to go to the main building during the day. Those adults are all in there."
Gu Li's expression turned somewhat subtle as she recalled the magnificent villa they had seen when they entered; the pollution concentration in that building was even higher than here.
She doubted whether there were any human maids inside.
Gu Li: "How do I get to the main building?"
She obediently followed Hagrid a couple of steps away from the room, and Hagrid seemed to breathe a sigh of relief as he nervously surveyed his surroundings.
He shook his head, which was covered by an iron helmet: "I don't know, I've only heard that only the most devout believers can go there."
"Perhaps you could ask Sophia; she's the head maid, she might know something."
Sofia is the woman in the room.
Gu Li nodded thoughtfully.
Hagrid stood helplessly in front of Gu Li, earnestly lecturing her not to act impulsively and to look for an opportunity.
Gu Li suddenly snapped out of her reverie. She looked at the highly mutated Hagrid in front of her and wrinkled her nose: "Do you still have time?"
Hagrid's tall figure suddenly stiffened. She pursed her lips and said, "I didn't mean anything by it, it's just that something is leaking from you."
Following her finger, a painful groan suddenly came from under Hagrid's helmet. The seam at his knee was soaked with murky liquid, which was also the part that had gone out of control after the mutation.
A strong, fishy stench had begun to fill the air.
Hagrid took two steps back: "Perhaps you are right, Miss Lilith, I do not have much time left, but you don't... you and Anneville are still very young."
His dark brown eyes, straining to fit through the window, stared intently at her: "The old man always hopes that all the children can grow up healthy."
"I will find out the news about the main building for you. You should go back now and please don't go out and risk your life again."
Gu Li suddenly stepped forward and reached out to block the view of the window.
The white starlight, which appeared exceptionally soft and holy in the darkness, entered Hagrid's body. He seemed to have something to say, but could only stand frozen in place like a statue.
"What's this?!"
Hagrid's voice trembled: "I feel... wonderful, I've never felt so good."
After a while, Gu Li, who had infused a large amount of starlight into his body, withdrew her hand and looked at Hagrid with scrutiny. The two eyes that had rearranged in the viewing window looked at her excitedly.
Gu Li hesitated for a moment: "How are you feeling? I mean, the changes in your body?"
Hagrid stood up with unusual excitement and paced back and forth in front of her, looking much more energetic than before, and the tissue that had overflowed from his knees had receded.
"I'm in great shape. I think I could climb eight stories up the outer wall in one go!"
Gu Li reached out incredulously and pried open Hagrid's helmet a little, then quickly closed it again. Hagrid's neck was no longer swollen and was desperately squeezing the armor.
But he is still in his mutated form...
Its tall body was covered in a sticky liquid and unidentified proliferating tissue.
Was her starlight useless to them?
Gu Li suddenly realized the seriousness of the problem. Each of the teams that entered Bellamy with her had a Child of Light, but if an anomaly occurred, the Child of Light would be unable to be repaired.
Their squad is in too much danger!
It seems the plan has changed. She can't just wait here for everyone to meet up with her; she has to take the initiative and lure them over.
Gu Li nudged Hagrid, who was still immersed in surprise: "You still have time now. You'd better go back now and work hard so you can continue living with Anneville in the future."
Hagrid snapped out of his daze of surprise and looked hesitantly at Gu Li: "Then you?"
Gu Li pushed his shoulder again, urging him on: "I can protect myself, but with you, it's not certain. Let's go!"
Footsteps are approaching.
"If we don't leave now, it will be too late."
Hagrid glanced at her, then gritted his teeth and quickly returned to his room via the nearby stairs.
He held his breath in the room, trying to hear some other sound, but the darkness outside was as silent as death, and even the approaching footsteps disappeared.
Hagrid's hands, hanging trembling at his sides, paced around the room before finally muttering, "No, I can't just leave her like this."
"There must be something I can do."
He moved his still somewhat clumsy fingers and awkwardly leaned over the table, wrote a line, and then stuffed the note into his armor. When it was his turn to go out next time, he would hand it over to Miss Lilith's companion.
I hope I can help in any way.
Gu Li, of course, had no idea that Hagrid was desperately trying to repay her. She returned to the door of the maid's quarters, opened it, and walked straight toward the head maid, Sophia, who was still reciting.
As he walked, a small knife gleaming with a cold light appeared in his hand, which he pressed against Sophia's neck before she could look up.
“Head Maid, perhaps we can talk this over,” she said, placing her hand on the Bible. “If you shut up and don’t bother me, I’ll let you go, okay?”
Sophia remained unmoved, sitting there, and suddenly said, "The Mother Goddess will punish everyone who disrespects Her. My soul belongs to the Mother Goddess, and if it does not return to Her embrace, it will surely incur Her wrath."
Gu Li clicked his tongue.
That brat even cursed me.
