Gu Li opened her eyes again in a daze, and there was a circle of strange-looking people around her head.
She had a strange feeling of déjà vu.
But she couldn't help but ask, "What...are you doing?"
Yes! She asked it!
Gu Li shifted uncomfortably under the intense gazes of dozens of eyes.
The man who had calmly smiled at her as he jumped off the cliff still had his menacing ram's horns sticking out of another person's head.
At this moment, however, he stared at her with unusual seriousness.
Gu Li felt a chill in her heart. Could something have happened while she was unconscious?!
As her thoughts raced, the man with ram's horns finally spoke, and Gu Li was shocked once again.
That voice—it was the incredibly magnetic deep voice he heard yesterday when his eyes were covered!
The man with the ram's horns straightened up and bowed slightly to her, saying in a voice that seemed to have been given a charm buff, "Good morning, Miss."
"I am Rossellini Eric. Did you sleep well last night?"
Gu Li, who was completely unconscious last night: "...Ah, it's alright, I guess."
Seeing this, Eric explained the situation with a mixture of sadness, reassurance, and sigh.
“We are already an alien species with an uncertain future, but you have miraculously awakened and become a Child of Light. You must have already understood the importance of the Child of Light.”
Eric sighed as he looked at her: "Now is not a good time to go back. We need time to adapt to the changes and to reassure people. It may take some time before we can send you back..."
His voice was interrupted by a girl with light skin.
Gu Li looked at the group of people with a puzzled expression. They all had some inhuman features and looked much more disheveled than she did.
“As you said, if the Child of Light is really that useful,” Gu Li’s gaze swept across the crowd again, not finding the man who had suddenly transformed and taken her away yesterday, and said regretfully, “I should have stayed here.”
Just kidding, she absolutely has to stick with the main characters she's chosen.
What's more, they were the ones who saved her last night, and the so-called safe zone that would protect her like a treasure almost riddled her with bullets yesterday.
Seemingly surprised by her words, the room fell silent for a moment.
Gu Li clearly noticed that the way several people looked at her had changed.
She looked at Eric expectantly, waiting for his answer.
The man with ram's horns paced around the room a few times, and Gu Li then noticed that his legs had also changed, with his wild, hunched legs becoming visible as he walked.
"This is too dangerous; you could very well get infected."
Gu Li looked at the young man who had spoken. He had a tuft of slightly long hair at the back of his head, which was casually tied into a small braid. The braid was already sticking up unruly, attracting her attention.
When Levi saw her looking over, he looked at Eric with a serious expression: "Children of Light are very rare. Children of Light in the safe zone will receive the best treatment and protection."
Gu Li curled her lip upon hearing this: "That doesn't sound good. It's like being a fragile healer with no ability to protect yourself. I don't want to go."
Levi's brow furrowed even more.
Eric suddenly agreed: "Alright, in that case, you'll come with me to see He Shiyi this afternoon."
"The person who saved you yesterday is also the commander of the 11th Army Corps."
He added to Gu Li's bewildered gaze.
Gu Li raised both hands in agreement.

Gu Li followed Eric through the messy streets. The houses on both sides of the road looked like they had been in use not long ago, but now only traces of damage remained.
The windows of the retro Gothic building were all pitch black, pointing directly at everyone passing by. When Gu Li walked by, he could even feel the gazes from inside.
She slowed her pace without changing her expression, secretly glancing at the window to the side, when suddenly she met a pair of eyes that had been peering out of the window.
As soon as she looked over, those eyes vanished through the window.
"What's wrong?"
Eric asked the question he already knew the answer to.
Gu Li turned his head thoughtfully and asked, "How many people did we move here this time?"
The line of sights along the way is just too dense!
The man with the sheep's hoof who was leading the way was somewhat surprised. He quickly explained, "The 11th Army has successfully evacuated nearly 800 people. Some more contaminated civilians have been arriving in the city since last night."
"Because of... certain reasons, we made them live near the square."
As soon as he finished speaking, the two stopped in their tracks. With Gu Li's heart pounding faster, the man introduced her to the enormous creature that occupied the square and the surrounding houses.
"He is He Shiyi, the one who led us to evacuate last night."
Gu Li recognized him without him even having to introduce him.
The handsome pink octopus I saw when I opened my eyes yesterday is gone, completely transformed into a horrifying mass of flesh and blood.
Countless thick, ferocious tentacles swayed on its limbs, and a strange, evil black mist surrounded it, creating a particularly atmospheric effect.
After Eric finished his introduction, he stopped talking and secretly observed Gu Li with a tense body.
If she showed signs of fear or mutation due to contamination, he would immediately take her away.
This was something they had discussed with He Shiyi beforehand.
He lowered his eyes. Under the heavy pollution on He Shiyi, even a trained soldier probably wouldn't be able to resist for long.
Not to mention a girl with weak genes who has just awakened her abilities.
This was an unfair test from the start.
To everyone's surprise, she actually resisted He Shiyi's contamination.
Amidst the gazes, both overt and covert, the pale-faced girl turned her head, her exceptionally clear and pure blue eyes fixed on him.
"Are we just going to stand here like this? I want to thank Mr. He Shiyi properly, but I don't know where to say it to him in this state."
Eric was speechless for a moment.
"You can just say it directly. In this form, there is no concept of head or tail."
Gu Li took a step forward amidst his astonished gaze, her hand, pale and conspicuous in contrast to the dark, twisted flesh, reaching out towards He Shiyi.
Eric: "No! Stop!"
He quickly stepped forward to stop them, and a dense commotion arose all around.
Before everyone could arrive, a large hand, emerging from the dark flesh, deftly yet firmly blocked Gu Li's hand.
Familiar voices came from all directions.
"I apologize for the offense, Miss, but as a lady, it is best not to touch unfamiliar adult men."
Gu Li took the opportunity to stand on tiptoe and grasped his hand, their fingers interlocking with the pale, bony hand.
She smiled and took his hand in hers, and the starlight that had gathered overnight was once again transmitted through their touching skin.
Her voice mumbled out, "I'm not very familiar with it yet, so I'll let you use it like this for now."
"hiss--"
At the same time, a series of gasps, seemingly coming from nowhere, rang out.
