Seeking medicine

Seeking medicine

The child curled up in the warm yet glaring space.

This is a sign of being restless, and it's a common action she's taken since she transmigrated.

No one can criticize her for not being brave or fearless enough.

A person born in a peaceful era suddenly transmigrates to a world of cultivation, facing the predicament of having their body turned into an infant, and also having to live a precarious existence while trapped in a seal.

The system gently stroked her back from a distance, trying to help her sleep more peacefully.

Recently, her condition has worsened.

The girl curled up even tighter, and fragments of her restless dream flashed by.

A woman lay on this desolate land, seemingly sharing the same pulse and eyes as heaven and earth and all things.

The undulating mountains in the distance are like her chest, intimately connected, as if they were one with her.

The deathly silence almost crushed everything on this land.

A young man walked slowly from afar and silently sat down beside her. The two bodies were so close that they could feel each other's heartbeats and warmth.

These are the only two beating hearts left in the world.

A silence lingered between the two, and after a long while, as the sun began to set, the young man finally spoke: "I... will grant your wish."

After an unknown amount of time, the girl and the young man got up together and walked hand in hand into the distance.

Their figures eventually disappeared at the edge of the earth.

The girl's mind returned to calm.

A heavy snow fell overnight, leaving a thick layer on the ground. By morning, the snow had lessened, with sparse snowflakes adorning the mountains.

The wind blew through the treetops and also stirred the hair of the man in blue robes in the snow, making him look like a pine tree in the snow.

He walked through the snow, the hem of his blue robe already soaked with ice and snow.

"The cold of melting snow is better than when it snows." He whispered to the vast sky and earth, his breath blurring his eyes and eyebrows. Sensing the movement in his sleeve, he stroked the restless ball of fur in his sleeve with his fingertips. "Don't come out, or your paws will get frostbite."

This peak is close to the back of the mountain, and few people usually come near it. Right now, all you can hear is the sound of the wind and snow blowing against the rocky cliffs.

He suddenly looked up, his divine sense spreading across the entire mountain like a spider web—from the southeast cliff, a faint panting sound pierced through the wind and snow.

“There are living people.”

He frowned slightly, thinking to himself: There are still six months before it opens, why are they so impatient?

The back mountain of Jingyin Sect is formed from a spiritual vein and is a treasure of the cultivation world. However, under the order of the Immortal Venerable, six spiritual veins, including Jingyin Sect, are sealed off and only one is opened every three years.

Faced with such temptation, some people naturally tried to sabotage it.

A cold wind blew by, making people's noses itch, and the woman on the mountainside tried her best to suppress the urge to sneeze.

She was climbing carefully. Because of the steepness of the mountain and the snow, she could only place her feet firmly and grip the smooth rocks with both hands before daring to take the next step.

On the cliff face, there were winding trails of blood she left behind.

The snow crashed down, and she clung to the rock face, ice shards piercing her cheeks, her fingers still digging deep into the cracks in the rock.

The snow on the girl's eyelashes trembled with her breath, and the blurry outline of the mountain peak in her vision became clearer.

The last zhang (approximately 3.3 meters).

She stood atop the peak, and the chilling light of a sword followed her.

He instinctively leaned back, the sword just barely grazing his throat, and his feet landed on the edge of the cliff.

As the morning light pierced through the clouds, the entire snow-capped mountain suddenly shimmered with silver light, but unfortunately, neither of the two people present had time to appreciate such a beautiful sight.

The wind swirled fine snow through the valley, lifting Zhou Hengyan's clothes as if he were a celestial being descending to earth, but upon closer inspection, his eyes held only icy coldness.

"My name is Lin Yunwang, and I have come here to seek medicine!" the girl said urgently, afraid that if she was a step too slow, his sword would pierce her again.

The man held the sword firmly in his hand, its blade clanging in the biting wind, the black iron blade reflecting a cold light.

The sword reflects the man.

He didn't speak, but the sword moved closer to her neck, shaving off a lock of hair as a threat.

Lin Yun was not afraid; instead, he stepped forward.

This trip was all about "gambling".

I'm betting that what the doctor said is true, and I'm betting that she'll have a smooth journey.

Now that she's reached the final stage, she has nothing to fear anymore.

When Zhou Hengyan saw her approaching, he took a half step back, maintaining a proper distance between them.

“Immortal, you may not know, but our village chief has unfortunately fallen seriously ill and has been in a coma for over a month. We have consulted several doctors, but none of them could save him. Fortunately, we found a renowned physician who said that only the Rejuvenation Pill, a unique elixir of the Jingyin Sect, could save his life. If we were not so eager to save him, we would never have bothered your sect.”

Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by the person in front of him, "How can you prove that what you say is true? And how can you exchange it for my sect's elixirs?"

A mere mortal, so weak, so insignificant.

The snow stopped, but the wind didn't.

The mountain wind, carrying a chill, swept across the cliff edge, chilling her eager heart as well.

Lin Yun suddenly leaned forward.

The sword slashed through her fur collar, leaving a gash on her neck from which blood trickled. She paid no heed and continued to lean forward. “Immortal Yongyun once said: If anyone ascends to the Jingyin Sect without the aid of magic or external forces, with only flesh and blood, his wish shall be granted.”

"I swear by my life, every word is true."

When the doctor told her to go to the Jingyin Sect to seek medicine, she asked a question.

"I have nothing of value, how can I exchange it for the Resurrection Pill? I hope you can show me the way."

"Then it depends on whether you're willing to gamble with your life."

Survivors kneeling before the mountain gate came and went like a never-ending tide.

The mysterious physician gave her two choices: either become one of the thousands kneeling figures, or fulfill the oath made by Elder Yongyun of the Jingyin Sect in order to obtain the elixir.

After a long while, Zhou Hengyan finally made a move.

"offend."

He produced a rope from somewhere, and Lin Yunwang cooperated by extending his hands.

“I have consulted with Your Excellency. Please follow me.”

Seeing her hands covered in blood, Zhou Hengyan's confusion deepened.

I really don't understand what this person is thinking. Who is worth risking your life to save?

"Thank you, Immortal Lord."

Lin Yunwang spoke these words sincerely; she had anticipated countless possible scenarios on the way. For example, if she reached the mountaintop and encountered members of a sect who mistook her for some petty thief, refused to listen to her explanation, and stabbed her with their sword, killing her instantly.

However, the person in front of him seemed somewhat unnatural.

Sincere words are misinterpreted by those who are suspicious.

Lin Yunwang was unaware of the strange behavior of the person beside her, because she was having a hard time adapting to the Shrinking Earth Talisman and was focused on fighting the feeling of weightlessness.

Right now, it felt as if her limbs were being tightly bound by wire, making it hard for her to breathe.

She clenched her fists, her fingers sinking into her palms, thinking: It's still more dignified than the whimpering she made when she fell.

The black iron scabbard suddenly grazed the back of her hand.

"pay close attention."

Zhou Hengyan himself was startled by the reminder, as this was not his usual style.

Lin Yunwang barely opened his eyes in the bright light. "Thank you for your kindness, Immortal Lord, but... my hands are dirty."

The young man suddenly stopped, turned his head away, and quietly hummed in his heart.

Lin Yunwang was so overjoyed at the prospect of obtaining the Rejuvenation Pill that he didn't notice his awkwardness.
