Chapter 15 The student surpasses the master; a fleeting glance, unforgettable. ...

As soon as Zhu Qingzhi stood up from the sofa, Wen Qi came over carrying Xiao Cang, his eyes still fixed on his phone screen. It seemed that he could only free up his other hand to work by casually shoving the cat into her arms.

But which parent doesn't understand their son?

Wen's parents exchanged a glance, then lowered their heads, remaining silent in perfect unison.

"So Xiao Cang is a cat." Zhu Qingzhi scratched the orange cat's chin and rubbed its round belly, her face overflowing with affection. "So cute."

From the moment she entered, she had been paying attention to Xiao Cang, whom Wen Qi had mentioned, but no one had brought her up. Just when she was about to think that Wen Qi had made it up to ease her tension, he brought Xiao Cang in.

Wen Qi gave a soft "hmm," and casually leaned closer, reaching out to rub Xiao Cang's head: "My mom found it. It used to be tiny, but now it weighs almost twenty pounds."

Wen's mother sat beside him, drinking tea with a stern face, not daring to make a sound to interrupt his speech.

"So cute! Cats are cuter when they're chubby." Xiao Cang nestled in her arms, soft and fragrant, and squinted her eyes in enjoyment. Zhu Qingzhi's heart melted at the sight.

At this moment, the two of them were very close. Zhu Qingzhi's shoulder was leaning against his chest, and Wen Qi was rubbing Xiao Cang's head, trying to keep his arm from curving, while holding his phone in his other hand.

But he hadn't replied to messages in a long time. His bangs were a little messy, covering his eyes, making it even harder to see what he was looking at.

In the quiet living room, Mr. and Mrs. Wen wished they could just disappear. When the clock struck eight, Mrs. Wen decided to add firewood and got up to remind them, "Why don't you stay here tonight?"

Zhu Qingzhi was happily petting the cat when she casually said "Okay".

“We…” Wen Qi’s voice paused noticeably, and after hearing her agree, he didn’t continue.

By the time Zhu Qingzhi realized the consequences of her response, she and Wen Qi were already staring at each other in the bedroom.

“It’s inconvenient for us to sleep in separate rooms at the old house,” Wen Qi explained.

Zhu Qingzhi was well aware of this, but she still needed to mentally prepare herself to accept sharing a room with Wen Qi, and even sleeping in the same bed.

"I'll sleep on the sofa."

The bedroom was quite spacious, with a large double bed and a double sofa next to it, but for Wen Qi's height, it was really cramped.

"It's okay, there's enough room in the bed."

She knew Wen Qi wanted to refuse, but it was because she spoke without thinking that she had to compromise, so she was the culprit who caused this outcome.

Making her sleep on the sofa and paying for her recklessness? That's like making her suffer another layer of grievance on top of the first. That's just too unfair.

But she added, "As long as you don't mind."

After saying that, she didn't bother to observe Wen Qi's expression anymore and quickly slipped into the bathroom.

She didn't dare linger in the bathroom for too long. She had just grabbed a nightgown from the closet and after taking a shower, she looked at it closely and her eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

The length is a bit long, but it's only above the knee. The back is exposed, and the chest area is almost below the navel.

She closed her eyes, swept her hair to her chest, and carefully examined herself in the mirror. Finally, she decided to cover her chest before leaving the bathroom.

Wen Qi sat on the sofa, facing away from her, with earphones in his ears, working on his computer and seemingly unaware of her presence.

Being a workaholic has its advantages!

She hurriedly rummaged through the closet, her heart sinking completely. The dress she was wearing was actually the most conservative style of pajamas!

She crossed her arms, on the verge of tears.

I've resigned myself to it. I'll just treat it like I'm walking the red carpet and wear my pajamas as an evening gown.

Just then, Wen Qi finished his work and looked up to see her bare, smooth back, which, in the dim, warm light, resembled a translucent and lustrous piece of jade. His eyes darkened for a moment, and his Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily before he looked away.

When Zhu Qingzhi turned around, her gaze met his, and she assumed he hadn't noticed her. She secretly breathed a sigh of relief, then slipped under the covers before reminding him, "I'm done washing up. You can go in and wash up now."

Perhaps due to the boredom of work, Wen Qi's voice was unusually calm, but she didn't think anything was wrong.

She didn't dare to crawl out of bed until the bathroom door was closed.

The fabric of this nightgown pulls to both sides when I lie down, so what's the difference between it and not wearing anything at all? It's practically nothing!

Frustrated, she scratched her hair and decided to change into a shorter one with a V-neck design. After all, she would end up in bed anyway, so no one would care if it was short or not.

Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work!

She quickly got up and ran to the wardrobe, having just taken off the clothes she was wearing and thrown them on the ground, not yet having had time to put on another one.

With a soft creak, the bathroom door opened, and Zhu Qingzhi's mind went completely blank. The wardrobe was almost directly opposite the bathroom door; anyone who came out of the bathroom, unless they were blind, would definitely be able to see it clearly.

Wen Qi happened to meet both of these conditions, and with almost no pause, the bathroom door slammed shut with a "bang".

Very well, he definitely saw it.

Well, Zhu Qingzhi suddenly realized that showing her chest under the covers wasn't such a big deal.

Behind the bathroom door, Wen Qi gripped the doorknob, the veins on his arm bulging, his breathing rapid and disordered, all screaming for the fleeting glimpse of spring scenery that had just passed before his eyes.

Sweat beaded on his forehead; he knew it wasn't just lingering moisture from the bathroom. His blood was rushing to his head, his reason nearly crumbling, and the intense heat was almost unbearable.

He turned to look at himself in the mirror. He was dressed neatly, but he looked disheveled. Wen Qi finally realized that his self-control was much weaker than he had imagined.

When he came out of the bathroom, only a bedside lamp was left on in the room. A small curve appeared on one corner of the bed, and Zhu Qingzhi's breathing was even, as if she were really asleep.

He dimmed the lights, lifted the covers, and lay down on his side. Her long, flowing hair was slightly disheveled, with a few strands scattered on his pillow. At that moment, they both smelled of the same shower gel, indistinguishable from one another.

Wen Qi remembers the first time he met Zhu Qingzhi was in the library of Keny University abroad. He was twenty-two years old and had been invited by Keny University to be the opening guest of the Robotics University League.

In the sweltering afternoon breeze, the shadows of the sycamore trees swayed in the breeze. She, with her long hair flowing freely, carrying a book in her arms, passed by him, laughing and joking with her classmates.

A fleeting glimpse, yet unforgettable.

But he knew that there was no point in starting a love affair that had no future.

The second time I met Zhu Qingzhi was six months later at Haicheng University. He had just returned to China and was preparing to take over the Wen family business, so Venus, which he founded when he was eighteen, needed someone to take over.

Haicheng University's information technology is renowned both domestically and internationally. Through an introduction, he entered Haicheng University to find a suitable partner, and that's when he met her again.

On a summer afternoon, with the same long hair, she rode her bicycle, humming a song, and came into his view.

He still remembered that day; it was her eighteenth birthday. Lu Yao had traveled all the way from Beijing to Haicheng to celebrate her birthday, and that evening, a grand fireworks display was held for her on the Bund.

He witnessed all of this from the cruise ship opposite.

The eighteen-year-old girl's youthful and beautiful face shone even more brightly against the backdrop of fireworks.

Unparalleled beauty.

June 1, 1806, is a memorable day; it's the day he decided to start a relationship with her.

And now, he and she have finally made a beginning.

Zhu Qingzhi had to admire her own mindset; under such immense psychological pressure, she was still able to fall asleep, and when she woke up, Wen Qi was already dressed.

"Awake?" He didn't seem to care about the little incident last night, and was tying his tie in front of the mirror.

Zhu Qingzhi rubbed her hair, got out of bed and took a few steps before realizing that her clothes were a bit too short, but if she shrank back into the blankets, it would only make things more obvious.

Wen Qi seemed not to notice her, as he was focused on tying his tie.

Taking advantage of this brief moment, Zhu Qingzhi ran into the bathroom.

Once she had completely disappeared, Wen Qi finally let out a heavy sigh of relief. The act of tying a tie was something ingrained in his bones, but today he had tied it crookedly and haphazardly, making it unsightly. He tried several more times, but always found it was just not quite right.

The sound of water in the bathroom started and stopped, then started again.

Wen Qi wrapped the tie around his hand, intending to tie it at the company, then knocked on the bathroom door: "I'll wait for you downstairs."

Zhu Qingzhi had been waiting for him to say that. She lingered in the bathroom for a while, making sure Wen Qi had left, before daring to go to the closet to find clothes to wear. All the clothes she wore during the day were presentable. Zhu Qingzhi casually picked out a sweater and went downstairs.

Downstairs, Wen's parents and Wen Qi were all sitting at the dining table eating breakfast. The breakfast was plentiful, with both Chinese and Western options.

She greeted them sweetly, then sat down next to Wen Qi and served him a bowl of millet porridge.

Xiao Cang was dozing at Wen Mu's feet, but when she saw Zhu Qingzhi, she curled up at her feet.

Mother Wen laughed and said, "This little ungrateful boy forgets his mother as soon as he sees a beautiful woman."

Zhu Qingzhi didn't think much of it, but Wen Qi raised an eyebrow and glanced at his mother.

He's not stupid; he can understand the implication in her words. But this kid is tight-lipped. No matter how she asked, he wouldn't mention what happened last night. Now that Zhu Qingzhi is down, she's even less likely to ask.

"Remember to come home often when you have time. I get bored at home, and Xiao Cang likes you too." Mother Wen put down her chopsticks and looked at Zhu Qingzhi with a kind expression.

Zhu Qingzhi dared not answer questions without thinking now. She glanced at Wen Qi, preparing to shift the blame to him: "I'll listen to him."

"Listen to him?"

Wen's mother found Zhu Qingzhi's answer somewhat unbelievable. Why did Zhu Qingzhi seem a bit clingy to Wen Qi after last night? She suppressed the urge to smile wildly at any moment, "Oh, okay, I'll listen to him."

Wen's father knew her personality best. He could tell from her tone that she was overthinking things, but there was no need to discourage her.

Wen Qi put on airs, one hand resting on the back of the chair, his shirt collar open without a tie, a departure from his usual serious demeanor, exuding a somewhat unrestrained and roguish air: "I've been quite busy lately, haven't had time."
