“This is indeed Lorenz’s Achilles’ heel.” Richard sat on the cold golden throne, took the scale from Yun Wei’s hand, and sniffed it. “I will need a day to prepare. If nothing unexpected happens, Lorenz will wake up tomorrow.”
"In this way, our contract is considered complete," the silver dragon added calmly.
The last sentence was addressed to Isaac.
Yun Wei nodded, his expression finally relaxing. "Phew, I've finally helped you. Is there anything else we can do? Just let us know."
Richard's silver eyes flickered, and he simply said, "No need, little one. But I can't get away, so you can just wander around the island as you like. I've already spoken to the other dragons. The Naga did indeed suddenly withdraw to the mudflats last week, and the timing does match what you said."
Having said that, Richard said no more and began the dragon clan's mysterious preparatory ritual.
He closed his eyes, placed the purple scales on his forehead, and seven-colored light, like silk, slowly flew out from between his eyebrows, connecting with the purple reverse scales between his fingers.
Upon contact with the radiant light, the purple scales seemed to come alive, their deep purple color becoming somewhat transparent, with lightning flashing and swirling around them.
Richard, however, remained calm. Fine scales appeared on his neck, instantly covering his cheeks, and faint dragon roars emanated from the seven-colored light.
Fearing they might disturb the silver dragon that was performing the ceremony, the group immediately left the dragon cave.
The cloud boat is scheduled to depart again the day after tomorrow morning, and everyone is free to do as they please. Uncle Xie is very interested in the cloud boat and plans to use this time to conduct research, while Qin Lushu plans to wander around the island.
"Then you must be careful," Yun Wei said with concern.
Qin Lushu nodded vigorously. "I understand. If anything happens, I will use my flute to call for help. My grandmaster will not stand by and watch me die."
Meanwhile, the grandmaster he was referring to was standing forlornly at the entrance of the Dragon Cave, and didn't even look up when he heard his joke.
Qin Lushu looked at Yun Wei with some surprise, but Yun Wei silently shook his head.
Seeing this, the young man didn't ask any more questions, but just looked thoughtful.
So everyone went their separate ways.
Isaac asked Yun Wei, "Where are we headed?"
"Either is fine." Yun Wei wasn't particularly interested in anything. After thinking for a moment, he said, "How about we go to the north bank and take a look? The Naga have already retreated; they might have left some clues behind."
...
Everyone had gone far away, and Xie Mulang, alone, held his sword and silently leaned against the rock in front of the Dragon Cave.
After a moment of hesitation, the words he wanted to say remained unspoken.
As his initial impulse faded, he began to feel somewhat insecure. Especially when he stood below the stage just now, gazing up at the beautiful silver dragon sitting on the throne, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
Richard was so beautiful, powerful, and dangerous, possessing mountains of jewels and wealth.
Compared to his opponent, he was practically penniless. Even his strength, which might seem decent in the human world, was probably insignificant in front of his opponent.
What right does he have to stand with the other party?
He naturally understood the principle of being of inferior status, but... he still felt somewhat unwilling.
He wanted to express his feelings, but felt it would be too selfish and worried that his immature thoughts would annoy the other person.
Anyone would be troubled to know that they are being coveted by a poor, taciturn young man who is far inferior to them.
But just then, he heard a loud female voice.
"I'm so fed up! What are those elders thinking? Why do they always make us do these annoying things?! I'm about to explode! Ah!—"
But then they saw two young people, one in red and one in green, slowly walk up the steps. The violent scream just now came from the woman dressed in green.
Richard was highly respected among the dragons; most dragons dared not land directly on the platform in front of his door.
The two dragons were startled when they saw Xie Mulang's somber expression.
The green dragon turned to the red dragon beside him and asked, "Hey, did he hear what I just said?"
Even though she tried her best to lower her voice, it still sounded like a roar, and Xie Mulang almost couldn't keep his expression.
"He should be fine." The man, whose entire body was flushed red, brazenly looked Xie Mulang up and down and said with utmost confidence, "He is a Bili person, so he shouldn't understand our common language."
“That’s true. Hey, Reed, hurry up and take the stuff inside. The pressure inside is too unbearable. I’m just standing outside getting some fresh air.” The green dragon breathed a sigh of relief, but tossed the pile of herbs he was holding into the red dragon’s arms.
Left with no other choice, the red dragon reluctantly went into the cave to deliver the goods.
While waiting outside, the green dragon took another look at the motionless man in black at the cave entrance. He noticed that the man had been staring blankly at the tree branches on the ground since the beginning of the night.
She subtly pursed her lips, finding the other person utterly boring.
A short while later, the red dragon came running out, covered in sweat, and complained incessantly, "The dragon's might in the cave was too terrifying. You have to come with me next time."
"Alright, I just asked you to do something, why are you making such a fuss?" The green dragon glared at the other, but then suddenly lowered its voice and said, "Tell me, if Lorenz wakes up, will Richard really marry her?"
The island was occupied by other dragons, but here, while Richard's mind was preoccupied with the summoning ritual, they could speak freely without worry.
"Probably...right? After all, everyone on the island knows he's always liked Lord Luo." The red dragon scratched his head, but said, "It's just that Lord Luo must be badly injured this time..."
“I see. The elders are really good at planning.” Upon hearing this, the green dragon suddenly realized, “Once they become partners, their life force will be shared immediately. With Richard’s current strength, it will be effortless for Lord Luo to return to his peak.”
Upon hearing this, the red dragon's face showed strong disapproval. "If that's the case, why not just let Richard continue to lead the dragon race?"
"Are you stupid?" the green dragon said with a look of disgust. "Lorenz was personally trained by those seven old guys, while Richard is a wild child raised by nature. Which one do you think is easier to control?"
“Of course it’s Lord Luo, but…” Red Dragon wanted to argue a bit more, but didn’t know where to begin. “Anyway, I still support Richard more.”
The green dragon, however, was unimpressed and sneered, "He was naturally useful when the Naga invaded, but now that things are peaceful, Lord Luo is much easier to talk to."
The handsome man and beautiful woman were arguing fiercely when a clear, crisp voice suddenly interrupted them. The voice seemed to be permeated with frost and snow, freezing the surrounding air.
"Excuse me, both of you, how long will Richard live after sharing life force?"
Xie Mulang's voice was cold, but the blood in his body was truly about to freeze. The side effects of the Seven Heart Sutra seemed to be taking hold at this moment, making him feel as if he had fallen into an ice cave.
He remembered the legend of the dragon race.
The so-called life sharing does not mean equal division, but rather based on the one with the shorter lifespan. However, during this period, the two people's strength overlaps and is not limited by aging, so they can continue to live a glorious life until the last moment of their lives.
The crimson-red male dragon was intimidated by those sharp, cold eyes and answered without hesitation, "He's at least five hundred years old..."
Dragons are known for their long lifespans. At the level of Lorenz and Richard, living for five thousand years would be a piece of cake for them to travel to higher planes.
Even with Lorenz's miserable state and only one-tenth of his lifespan remaining, living to five hundred years old shouldn't be a problem.
Upon hearing this, the green dragon snapped out of its daze and immediately scolded, "Reed, why are you talking so much? Go back now."
She glared at the distraught Xie Mulang with considerable apprehension before quickly leading her companions away.
