Chapter 4 Initial Contract

Regardless of what Al thought, the Eastern man was in a terrible situation. He was hiding in a damp, foul-smelling cave, the entrance of which was blocked by a bone prison he had summoned, while outside the cave, a ferocious magical beast was violently dismantling the bone prison.

With each bite and each claw strike, a hard, white bone, as thick as a wrist, is broken into shavings.

The already precarious cave shook violently amidst the roars of the monsters, threatening to collapse at any moment.

It turned out that after unfolding the teleportation scroll, Yun Wei was randomly teleported to the Southern Forests outside Red Moon City. The Southern Forests is a general term that consists of many remote and untouched forests, such as the Monster Forest, the Dark Forest, the Elf Forest, and the Fairy Tale Forest.

The footprints that humans have ever left on the continent of Zhuyuan are at most only on the outskirts of the Southern Forests.

Red Moon City, where Yun Wei was previously imprisoned, was the fortress where the Radiant Lord Dilis blocked the invading evil gods from other dimensions. In fact, it was located at the southernmost tip of the human civilization map.

As soon as Yun Wei landed, his bare feet stepping onto the soft, humus-covered leaves, he immediately sensed something unusual in the forest. The distant roars of unknown beasts made him extremely nervous.

Before they could even take cover, the low bushes rustled, and a massive, dark brown bear leaped out. The bear's hind leg appeared to be injured; thick, dark red blood trickled down its congealed fur, and its golden, round eyes were tinged with a ferocious rage.

Yun Wei recognized the magical beast before him: a Berserk Rock Bear, an A-rank magical beast, corresponding to a fourth-tier human professional. The Rock Bear is an earth elemental magical beast, renowned for its extremely strong defense and physical strength. In terms of defense alone, the Rock Bear is actually comparable to some S-rank magical beasts. It is rated A-rank because it is a purely physical attack magical beast, lacking elemental attack methods.

It's hard to imagine what could have damaged it like that.

The rock bear, under stress, noticed Yun Wei and immediately opened its blood-red maw, letting out a furious roar. A foul stench swept over its sharp fangs, causing the surrounding trees to tremble.

Without a second thought, Yun Wei released his mental energy to explore the way while simultaneously turning and running wildly into the depths of the forest.

That's how the scene at the beginning came about.

After exhausting all his magic power to cast the level three spell "Prison of Dry Bones," Yun Wei calculated that he wouldn't have enough time to recover enough magic power through meditation to cast "Prison of Dry Bones" again before the Rock Bear broke through the prison.

Once the ferocious rock bear charged into the cave, he would face certain death.

Rock Bears have extremely high physical defense, and using skeletons summoned by level one necromancy to fight them is like a mantis trying to stop a chariot—a futile and futile endeavor.

Now, their only hope lies in the stone coffin they took from the temple dungeon.

A coffin that even monsters from another world would covet... truly...

That makes me quite excited.

After taking the stone coffin out of the Netherworld, Yun Wei's expression was inscrutable.

He gazed quietly at the intricate patterns on the surface of the stone coffin for a moment, and finally reached out his hand.

As the dark Time Branch imprint on the back of his hand lit up, strands of magic, like spider silk, seeped into the cracks of the coffin from beneath his outstretched palm.

Because the other party was a Papal knight, and possibly a rigid and upright old man, Yun Wei dared not be careless at all.

He examined the magic array that appeared in mid-air, rapidly changing his hand seals to make the contents of the contract clearer and more demanding.

Having learned from past mistakes, this will no longer be an equal contract, but an absolutely mandatory master-servant contract. He will be in a position of absolute dominance over the servants he has contracted with.

"I have given you life, and you must repay me with loyalty." Yun Wei spoke slowly, his voice still hoarse, but his words were clear.

There are three contracts:

Firstly, a follower is absolutely forbidden from harming their sworn master.

Secondly, if the lord issues a command through a contract, the follower must carry it out.

Thirdly, if the master dies, the follower will immediately return to decay.

The first clause guarantees his safety, the second clause establishes his dominant position, and the third clause reinforces the importance that followers must prioritize his safety.

The magical runes flowed, gradually forming a closed circle. Yun Wei reviewed them several times, confirming that the wording was precise and without any errors, and then, before his magic power ran out, he typed his name on them:

Yunwei.

The flowing cursive script, scattered by the wind, was the script of his original world. Like the finishing touch on a painting, the contract magic shone brightly the moment the last stroke was completed, then immediately subsided and vanished without a trace.

At the same time, Yun Wei once again felt a faint connection in his spiritual sea.

He succeeded.

Immediately afterward, a sound came from inside the stone coffin in front of him. Yun Wei figured he couldn't pry open the heavy coffin lid, so he simply stepped aside and quietly waited for his servants to appear.

To be honest, Yun Wei was quite nervous at that moment.

Although he has been practicing necromancy for five years, the ten years of apocalyptic life overrun by zombies left too much of a shadow on his heart, to the point that even now, he is still filled with fear of moving corpses.

As long as you don't let your imagination run wild and you treat the bones you usually use as ordinary materials created by magic, it's actually acceptable.

It's at least more palatable than a grotesque bone claw reaching out from the muddy, decaying soil.

This is also one of the reasons why Yun Wei only used the Skeleton Summoning skill once and only formed a contract with A'Dai.

Yun Wei lowered his gaze, his eyes sweeping over the surface of the massive coffin lid. The stone coffin, now free of its protective seal, appeared even more ancient and imposing. The eagle tail flowers carved on it were so lifelike that they were clearly the work of a master craftsman.

The Griffin's Tail Flower, also known as the Crimson Griffin, is the most prestigious flower in Moonflower City, the royal capital of the Red Moon Kingdom. Its petals are a mix of red and white, with one petal extending outwards, resembling the tail feathers of a griffin.

I hadn't noticed before, but now it seems that the sleeping master must be a nobleman, with intricate connections not only with the Papacy but also with the Red Moon Kingdom.

But Yun Wei didn't have time to investigate further, because the coffin lid was already starting to shake slightly.

Centuries later, what is the state of the body inside the stone coffin? Is it a ghastly yellowed skeleton, or a dehydrated and shriveled corpse?

Yun Wei's Adam's apple bobbed as he stared intently at the stone coffin in front of him.

During the long wait, classic scenes from various horror movies he had seen in his previous life flashed before his eyes, making even the roar of the rock bears right outside the cave seem insignificant.

"Click, click, click—" The coffin lid was slowly pushed open with a very even force, and then a hand reached out from the edge.

Yun Wei stared in disbelief at the hand clinging to the edge of the stone coffin.

It wasn't the bony claws he'd imagined, but a large, powerful hand with perfect bone structure and tight muscles—any more would make it look clumsy, any less would make it look rugged.

The only drawback is that his skin has an unhealthy paleness, which makes the light blue veins on his finger bones clearly visible.

Yun Wei wasn't a hand fetishist. But at this moment, he had to admit that after seeing such a hand, he couldn't help but imagine whether the rest of the person's body was just as perfect, and how much more favor the Creator would bestow upon this person.

"Hey, don't just stand there, come and lend a hand." A muffled growl came from inside the coffin. The large hand that was already outside bent its knuckles and tapped the side of the stone coffin, producing a metallic clang.

Yun Wei then seemed to snap out of his daze, hurriedly averting his gaze, taking a deep breath, and shouting through the crack in the coffin, "My strength isn't enough, can you manage on your own?"

It wasn't that he didn't want to help, but right now, his legs were trembling just standing up, so he shouldn't overestimate his abilities and end up making things worse.

"..." Upon hearing this, the fingers that were still lightly tapping the stone coffin froze for a long time. After a few more seconds, a helpless voice came from inside the coffin, "Then please stay away, I'll just lift it up."

Yun Wei quickly took two steps back and pressed himself against the uneven rock wall inside the cave. Because the rock bear was roaring again, he had to raise his voice and say, "I'm ready, you can come out now."

The large hand protruding from the coffin made a gesture of acceptance, then placed it on the coffin lid. With just a gentle lift, the heavy coffin lid flipped completely over and over to one side.

If the stone slab hadn't shattered into pieces upon hitting the ground, making such a loud noise, Yun Wei would have even suspected that the coffin lid was hollow, allowing it to be lifted so easily.

In that brief moment of distraction, the deceased, who had just awakened inside the coffin, stepped out. In the dim shadows, Yun Wei could tell that the other person was extremely tall. He himself was 1.75 meters tall, while this deceased person was almost a head taller than him, at least 1.9 meters.

Before he could even see the other person's face clearly, the latter had already knelt down on one knee before him, obediently lowered his head, and began to speak in an aria-like tone:

"By Your Highness, Knight Isaac answers Your call and forges an unbreakable pact with You."

The voice was loud yet restrained, as melodious as if blessed by the God of Light. It wasn't the kind of deep, affected bass that was deliberately deep. It was more like the voice of the gifted students in their early twenties from Yun Wei's previous life. Just by listening to the voice, one could tell that the owner must have a sunny and cheerful personality.

The undead knight named Isaac clenched his fist over his chest, seemingly extremely submissive, but his lowered face was expressionless. His seemingly calm eyes were serene, but a terrifying turmoil was brewing within them.

But Yun Wei was unaware of all this; he simply curled his toes awkwardly.

Look at this scene: he is dressed in tattered linen clothes and is standing awkwardly barefoot in a messy cave; the man in front of me looks serious, but he is wearing a dark blue silk nightgown.

Yun Wei could even see the delicate lace trim of the nightcap on the other person's head, lazily draped over the owner's brown hair.

The scene was quite comical.

"Cough, get up first." Yun Wei unconsciously rubbed his feet together to wipe away the dried mud on the backs of his feet, and tried to explain the immediate priority as simply as possible, "There is an enraged rock bear outside, and it is about to attack. We have to deal with it first."

"Do you have any weapons?" Isaac suddenly asked, looking up. He was so big that even when he was kneeling on one knee with his back straight, the top of his head was almost touching Yun Wei's chest.

As Yun Wei lowered his head, he was met with a pair of smoky gray pupils. In the dimly lit cave, the knight's melancholy and profound eyes struck the depths of Yun Wei's soul in an instant, like a mirror lake in the high heavens, or fragile glass.

"What, do you really want to see me fight with my bare hands?" Seeing Yun Wei fall silent, Isaac curled his lips and jokingly sighed, "You really are an unapproachable lord."

Ripples spread across the lake, and his lively smile added to his handsome appearance.

Yun Wei quickly snapped out of his daze.

“No, that’s not it.” He opened his mouth and asked in a hoarse voice, “What do you want? I can create it with magic. After all, I… am a necromancer.”

Yun Wei spoke the words "necromancer" very softly, as if carrying a strange sense of guilt, like he had inadvertently desecrated the world's most precious treasure, yet didn't know how to make amends.

Isaac straightened up and stood up. His tall figure blocked the light streaming in from the cave entrance, casting a somber shadow over Yun Wei, who was huddled in the corner.

Yun Wei could only see a metal pendant peeking out from the neckline of the other person's pajamas. The intricate pattern gleamed coldly, like a tangled knot.

Unfortunately, the cave they were in was located at a corner where the ceiling narrowed into an arc. Before the tall knight could even stand properly, the back of his head slammed hard against the rock corner.

As he reflexively lowered his head, the distance between the two people was instantly shortened.

Isaac was so close that he could clearly see his master's trembling eyelashes and take in the momentary tension and panic.

His excellent hearing came in handy at this moment; the seemingly fragile and thin mage before him was beating his heart so actively, so desperately.
