Chapter 73 Divine Oracle

Almost the instant he heard the voice, Bob's expression changed. He put his hands behind his back, lowered his head respectfully, and all his previous imposing manner vanished.

He was sweating profusely and could only say, "I'm very sorry, Mr. Victor."

"Too quiet, Bob, I can't hear you. Are you a mouse in disguise?" The old voice rang out again, this time criticizing without any politeness.

As soon as he finished speaking, a dark purple bolt of lightning descended from the sky and landed in front of Yun Wei and the others. The moment the lightning touched the platform, it transformed into an arc of electricity that rippled outwards like a solitary ripple.

The moment the arc of light disappeared, a not-so-tall figure suddenly appeared.

Yun Wei thought that this must be Victor, the dean of Lunagal Academy who had never shown his face.

Lunagal, meaning "the moon goddess's private treasure," can also be translated as "the secret chamber of pure silver." The moon goddess Luna was a deity widely worshipped by the beings of the various continents before the appearance of the Lord of Radiance. She is mysterious and gentle, and symbolizes the origin of magic.

According to ancient records, as early as the First Dynasty, people built a stone array around the Tower of All Laws to worship the moon goddess Luna. The altar where that stone array was located was the predecessor of Luna Caleb Academy.

The academy's deans were naturally priests of the moon goddess Luna. They were not bound by any worldly forces, only needing to offer their fervor and loyalty to the moon goddess and magic.

Even after the rise of the Cult of Radiant Light, this remained unchanged. Even the monarch of the Second Dynasty dared not act recklessly within the Lunagal Academy.

Yun Wei raised his eyes and looked at the other person. The moment he saw the other person's face, he was stunned.

He had imagined the dean of the Magic and Martial Arts Academy to be an elderly and highly respected magician with a bushy beard, but the "young" person standing in front of them was handsome and, in appearance, did not look like an old man at all, but rather like a teenager.

It's hard to imagine that such a weathered voice actually came from the other person.

The newcomer stood barefoot in a white robe, his blond hair reaching his ears, giving him a simple yet neat appearance. Most striking was a small crescent-shaped mark on his forehead, which reflected a faint light in the night, as if plated with mithril.

But at this moment, Victor quietly closed his eyes, his chin slightly raised, as if he were admiring the huge oak tree in front of him, oblivious to everyone else.

The Tower of All Laws is still under repair.

“Lord Victor,” Bob began with difficulty, but after hearing a disapproving “humph” from the other man, he raised his voice, “I am acting on His Majesty the King’s orders to apprehend—”

“Didn’t you see? They’re all my students. And you, Bob, were ‘once’ my student too,” Victor interrupted.

Seemingly annoyed at being disturbed, his tone became impatient, "I'll emphasize again, this is Lunagal Academy, it's none of your business to tell us what to do."

Despite his youthful body, his voice sounded old; though his face was handsome, his words were ruthless. Yun Wei thought, this dean is truly an enigmatic figure.

It made him involuntarily think of Alkh.

Moreover, the other party should be the strongest person he has met since he came to the Zhuyuan Continent. Even though the other party has his eyes closed at this moment, Yun Wei can faintly feel the immense power emanating from him.

Yet, he was completely different from Bishop Nicholas. Although both served the divine, Dean Victor possessed an otherworldly aura, like the gentle moonlight, which made people feel an instant goodwill upon first meeting him.

"But..." Bob was very conflicted. He knew that if he met this old guy, he would most likely not be able to complete the task today.

But if he were to return and report back like this, His Majesty the King would surely kill him on the spot.

Thinking of this, Bob shrank back. After hesitating for a long time, the captain of the guards, looking helpless, tried again, "Just now, everyone in Moonflower City can testify that the dragon beside you attacked the Tower of Ten Thousand Laws..."

He thought to himself that the old man must value the Tower of Ten Thousand Laws very much, and this should be able to provoke him and make him stand on the same side as him.

“So?” Victor waved his hand, his white sleeves fluttering in the wind, but his speech quickened, revealing obvious disappointment. “I think I’ve made myself clear, Bob.”

“They are students of the academy, and the Tower of All Laws is the academy’s private property, so this is an internal matter for our academy and no outsiders need to interfere.”

“This is just a very ordinary, everyday matter in the academy.” After saying that, he made a decisive and blunt statement: “You go and reply to Theodore Russo like this. If he’s not satisfied, he can come to me in person.”

Theodore Russo is the full name of His Majesty the King, as Bob calls him, and is the current ruler of the Red Moon Kingdom.

Having said all that, if he continued down this path without any regard for propriety, he would likely face the wrath of the most powerful mage on the continent. Bob could only bow helplessly and respectfully lead his guards back to the palace to report.

Watching the soldiers retreating like a tide below, Yun Wei was still preoccupied with the horde of corpses attacking outside the North Gate. He looked at the Academy Dean, who was admiring the Tower of Ten Thousand Laws with his eyes closed, opened his mouth, but didn't know how to begin.

“Children, you are the ones who have successfully passed the trial.” But Victor seemed to sense his thoughts and turned his head towards them. “Don’t be nervous. The Tower of All Laws has recognized you. I can feel the connection between you and it.”

“Yes, Dean.” Yun Wei nodded. After exchanging a glance with Isaac, he said, “Sir, what about the north side of the city—”

“I know, I’ll have to leave the rest to you,” Victor said gently, smiling and speaking with a kind tone, a stark contrast to his aggressive demeanor when confronting the guards.

"I'm still in Red Moon City, and things there are quite complicated, so I can't get away for the time being. So, children, go and do it bravely."

“And,” the handsome young man looked at Yun Wei. Even though he didn’t open his eyes, Yun Wei could tell that the other man was watching him.

Sure enough, Yun Wei heard the other party slowly speak, "You must be Claude, 'the distinguished guest who graces this land of dim stars in the name of the clouds.' A thousand years ago, a high priest left you a divine oracle before embarking on a long journey."

Upon hearing this, Yun Wei felt a chill run down his spine. He stared intently at Victor's thin lips as they parted, afraid of missing a single word.

Victor paused, then changed his tone, even his originally aged voice sounding younger, and recited:

“When the moonlight falls into the abyss, young man who arrives on the stars, believe firmly that you are magic itself.”

Then, he switched back to his previous tone and said rather casually, "Alright, that completes my task for tonight. Children, I'll have gifts for you next time we meet..."

As he uttered the last few words, Victor's figure flickered, and finally, "he" transformed into a ball of clear lightning element, which quickly dissipated in the air.

So it seems that Victor's purpose in rescuing the three was secondary; his main purpose was to read the oracle.

As expected of the strongest mage on the continent, the spells and techniques he used were completely beyond the comprehension of the three people present.

Yun Wei watched Victor's disappearing figure silently, memorizing the divine oracle he had spoken. Even though the other man hadn't explained it clearly, he knew who the high priest mentioned was.

A thousand years ago, it was that magician who loved poetry who wrote a whole book of love poems entitled "The Stars Are My Name".

Yun Wei was still lost in thought with his eyes down, but Richard on the other end sighed and exclaimed, "I thought I was flamboyant enough, but I was outdone today."

Isaac chimed in, "No, you still won on one side."

"Huh?" Richard turned his head, his silver eyes flashing, somewhat puzzled. Isaac put his fist to his lips, glanced at Yun Wei, but shook his head and remained silent.

Yun Wei: "..." So, what exactly does Isaac's "Introduction to the Language of Azure Glass" teach?!

He glared at Isaac helplessly, but said seriously, "You two are too weak right now. I'll go to the North Gate myself. Isaac, you... get some rest."
