The stars are arrayed in the sky, a vast and mysterious expanse.
It is neither visible above the sky nor touching the ground below.
Yun Wei and the other two hovered quietly within it.
After some haggling, they finally reached a deal based on the idea they had casually come up with six months ago.
In the very end, they all have to "fly away".
What the Lords of the Abyss desire lies beyond their own star system; while Yun Wei, in his pursuit of eternity, must integrate himself into the ceaseless cycle of change.
"Heh heh, I don't want to waste my breath on this. Let's do it this way. You and I will probably never see each other again." The tall shadow, hidden in his robes, asked in a sinister tone, "But, since we've both left the Continent of Primordial Chaos, how will we obtain that divine artifact?"
The magician remained calm, saying, "It's nothing."
With that, he waved his hand, and surging necromantic power poured out from his fingertips, condensing into a huge phantom as it constantly transformed and expanded.
When the grayish-white phantom solidified, the skeletal "Imitation of the Saint Andes Slingshot" appeared among them.
The things created from the skeletons are life born from the already vanished, inherently possessing a strong sense of mourning, yet they are the only hope that the Lord of the Abyss can place in them.
This is a contradiction that is intertwined and interdependent under contradiction, like the illusion and the reality, light and shadow.
The Lord of the Abyss paused for a moment, then commented in a hoarse voice, "This thing really doesn't look very sophisticated."
"It's good enough that it works, why be so picky?" Yun Wei grabbed Isaac's arm and stood on the counterweight together.
Clearly, the latter, though completely bewildered at the moment, trusted him without reservation.
"Tch. What kind of attitude is that?" The Abyss Lord's robe twitched for a moment, then he suddenly vanished from the spot.
When He reappeared, He was already standing eerily at the slingshot ready to be fired. "I felt that at a time like this, I should say something."
He looked into the distance, at the fully armed knight, and suddenly remembered his former self.
"It's best not to say anything. You finally made up your mind, and I just want to finalize the deal before you regret it." As soon as Yun Wei finished speaking, he cut off the transmitter beside him without any hesitation.
"Snap—"
With the sole constraint gone, the bow arm, which had been continuously extending under compression, unleashed incredible potential energy. Under the influence of torque beyond reason, the Lord of the Abyss was hurled into the star-studded sky.
And Yunwei and Isaac, just as previously said, finally flew away.
Their speed also exceeded the speed of light, so endless space and time revealed their true form before them, like a series of glowing portals, but they could not choose to enter at will.
This is what is known as spacetime turbulence.
Within the protective shield, Yun Wei conjured a lotus platform from bones. He looked at his knight and said firmly, "Alright, Isa, I know you have many questions you want to ask. Now you can ask."
However, Isaac remained silent.
The other person just stared at him without saying a word.
“Help me remove my armor,” Isaac said, turning around and standing straight with his back to him. “I will bend over to reveal my weakness. There’s a hidden knot in the third expansion joint above the skirt armor. Press it down for me.”
"This armor is too heavy, making it inconvenient to do anything."
After saying that, the other person actually bent down.
Yun Wei, who had prepared a lot of explanations, suddenly paused, but in the end, he obediently stepped forward.
"Hey, you have some nerve, treating me like a bodyguard?" he joked, and after some fumbling, he pressed down on the hidden knot, and sure enough, the other person's waist armor loosened.
Once a breakthrough is found, the seemingly indestructible armor can be peeled away one by one.
Then Isaac started to help himself, and all Yun Wei could do was help him gather up the scattered small parts.
Strangely, Isaac remained silent, keeping his head down, which made Yun Wei extremely anxious.
He thought, well, the other party is still angry after all.
It wasn't until Isaac hastily pulled on his trousers and began buttoning his shirt that he slowly spoke, "I have never had a bodyguard. According to the bad custom of the First Dynasty, bodyguards were also responsible for serving the emperor in bed."
He had been speaking casually with his eyes downcast, but when he mentioned the words "serving in bed," his gaze turned specifically to Yun Wei.
Yun Wei didn't know what was wrong with him. Being stared at by Isaac with a blank expression, he actually started to feel embarrassed in a self-righteous way.
The sweltering heat, carrying Issa's scent, made him feel dizzy.
But a dark shadow flashed by, and he was already in the knight's arms.
The other person's large hand pressed down on the back of his head, holding him very tightly.
"There are indeed many things I don't understand, but as long as I'm with you, the answers to those questions don't matter." A vibration came from the chest pressed against his cheek, and the other person's murmur sounded in his ear.
Yun Wei tried to explain, but he twisted slightly and was completely restrained by Isaac, unable to move at all.
"Don't move, let me hold you for a while, Fafa."
"Just for a little while, okay, Fafa?"
"I want to hold you like this, and stay with you forever."
The other person's whispers were full of grievance and repeated tirelessly, conveying a sense of determination to not give up until their wish was fulfilled.
What else could Yunwei do?
He could only nod slightly, hugging the imposing man in front of him back, silently listening to the rhythmic pounding of their hearts.
Finally, Isaac only asked Yun Wei one question.
The other party neither asked for the Abyss Lord's real name nor where Yun Wei and the others were going.
The knight asked his lover only one question, a question that Yun Wei found very difficult to answer:
"What do you plan to do if the Lord of the Abyss does not agree to make a deal with you? Don't tell me you haven't thought about this, or I will definitely get angry, I'm not kidding you."
Even though the other person was so gentle and clingy just a moment ago, and still had the same resolute gaze, Isaac's eyes were sharp, containing a seriousness that would not allow him to get away with anything.
Yun Wei knew that this was Isaac's attitude towards him, so serious it was almost sacred.
This made him feel a little guilty, and he put away his original plan to just brush it off, even though he knew that no matter what he said, the other party would believe him.
He confessed in detail: "If He disagrees, I will let Him devour me and become the new Lord of the Abyss, just as He once did."
“I’m not exaggerating, Isaac. I’ve also had a black hole in my heart that swallowed everything, that kind of excruciating pain, that kind of emptiness where I had nothing at all…”
"Therefore, becoming the Lord of the Abyss is not difficult for me, except—"
He just didn't know if Isaac would still like him if he also became that inhuman monster.
No, it's less about worrying about that...
Yun Wei understood that perhaps when he became that ugly monster, he would leave without looking back.
This was his last resort, a secret he absolutely did not intend to tell Isaac.
But now that things have come to this point, Isaac can probably guess what's going on.
So Yun Wei silently swallowed back the words he hadn't finished saying.
He looked at the knight who was so close by and blinked innocently.
The knight's chin was taut, revealing the sharp lines of his jaw and neck, but his smoky gray eyes seemed to hold a burst of sparks, making them impossible to ignore.
The other person's large hand cupped his cheek, and the rough fingertips scraped back and forth across the surface of his lips repeatedly.
"What, you think I'd kiss you so you wouldn't finish saying those unspoken words? You think you can get away with that?" Isaac stared intently at him, his gaze so sharp that he couldn't look away and he had nowhere to hide.
Yun Wei had never seen Isaac like this before, but he knew that even though Isaac was fierce towards him, he still liked him.
This was an irrational emotion that filled his heart and lungs, leaving him with a complex mix of feelings.
The knight, veins bulging on his forehead, gritted his teeth and fiercely accused, "Yun Wei, you are truly ruthless, but I just can't do anything about it. I really, really!"
At this point, Isaac suddenly let him go.
The other person turned around, walked straight to the side, and sulked alone.
Yun Wei stood still, staring at Isaac, even though the other man no longer wanted to see him.
He muttered in defense, “I’m not heartless, Isaac… never mind, whatever I say sounds like an excuse.”
Yun Wei shut up, feeling rather annoyed.
He suddenly felt inexplicably wronged.
"Go on." But Isaac suddenly turned his head away, looking awkward.
The other person lowered their voice and complained sullenly, "Aren't you usually so eloquent? So persuasive? Can't you... can't you just say a few more words to coax me?"
Upon hearing this, Yun Wei froze on the spot.
That final question was a stroke of genius, a perfect finishing touch.
Wasn't Isaac sulking with him? Now it seems like he's just teasing him.
He couldn't understand it at all.
Isaac has this talent; he always says things that are completely unexpected.
However, even if he was only stunned for a moment, the other person had enough time to pull him back into their arms.
"Fine, let me coax you then. Actually, you weren't wrong just now, I did want to kiss you, but I just held back." Isaac declared shamelessly, his thick, hot palm once again pressing against Yun Wei's cheek.
Yun Wei shivered from the heat.
"But...but..." He didn't know what had possessed him; once Isaac stared at him like that, he felt like he was about to be slaughtered.
He couldn't finish his "buts" because the impatient knight chose to do as he pleased.
This was their first kiss since leaving the Continent of Elements, under a dreamlike and colorful starry sky, mingled with salty sweat and tears.
...
Finally, they lay side by side on the platform of bones, gazing at the distant, unreachable stars.
Yun Wei absentmindedly tried to regulate his erratic breathing; unsurprisingly, his lips were swollen again. The burning sensation hadn't subsided, just as the man beside him continued.
Good heavens, what kind of crazy things is going on in his head?
It's all Isa's fault!
But Isaac regained his usual composure and elegance, though what he said was completely different.
Then the other person said, "I've kissed you like this, Yun Wei, you should believe me now. No matter what you become, I won't let you off easily. This isn't anything to brag about, I just did the same thing as you."
"But this is truly the most important thing in my life, meaning—"
"I am willing to give everything I have to make you happy." Before Yun Wei could react, Isaac emphasized again, word by word.
The other person stared at him intently, their tone so resolute, like a knight making the most solemn and sacred oath.
Yun Wei felt his eyes welling up again.
Even though Isaac was saying very simple things, he couldn't help but believe it.
Believe that he himself was capable of being happy.
In reality, he is already extremely happy.
It turns out that at some point, he stopped hating that cruel fate.
This feeling was so strange that he had to actively break the atmosphere that made him feel so out of place.
"Tell me, how do you want to punish me? I'll agree to anything you say." He lowered his eyelashes and abruptly changed the subject.
Fortunately, Isaac was willing to go easy on him and didn't push him too hard.
The other person wrapped their arms around his neck and easily got close to his ear, but then carefully blew a breath into his earlobe, "Are you serious, brother?"
As the call came, it felt as if an electric current surged through Yun Wei's coccyx.
The heat from his body burned his ear canal, and the wind he stirred up roared like paper being torn apart. The magician immediately shivered, and half of his body went numb.
He gritted his teeth and cursed, "Isaac, can't you speak properly! I... of course I'm serious."
Judging from the temperature of his cheeks at that moment, the possibility of this statement is not very high.
However, the sentiments I had just expressed have indeed been effectively dispelled.
"Hmm, I need to think about it carefully." Isaac put away his rare flippant expression and began to think seriously.
But Yun Wei suddenly sat up. "Wait, Isa. I think a new script has begun."
As far as the magicians could see, directly ahead of their path was indeed a large, beautiful, azure nebula.
From a distance, it really does look like an open book.
