Awakening from his profound state, Richard let out a long sigh of relief.
Ironically, this summoning ritual requires a dragon whose aura is most compatible with the recipient's to be completed, and when he looked around the entire Dragon Island, it turned out that Richard had been with Lorenz the longest.
But that's no longer something worth mentioning.
He calmly glanced at the scales bulging between his fingers and casually placed them on the pile of gems beside him. Now that he had retrieved Lorenz's Achilles' heel, he was at least 70% confident he could awaken him.
In the lonely darkness, he habitually fell into melancholy contemplation.
Ever since he took that difficult first step, he has been fighting against his innate dragon instincts every day. It is a path destined to be full of thorns, and if he is not careful, he will be back to square one.
If Lorenz were to wake up...
To be honest, Silver Dragon was completely unprepared to face Lorenz.
He once believed that his love for Lorenz was so profound and moving, and he was absolutely certain of it.
Looking back now, it turns out I only moved myself.
As his feelings faded, he grew increasingly disliked his former self. If he could, he longed to go back in time, to run away before anything even began.
But magic cannot reverse time; time is a separate entity from the elements, a forbidden realm for the gods.
He cannot change the past, just as he cannot change the perceptions of all the dragons on Dragon Island.
Despite that absurd and ridiculous belief, Richard still deeply loved Lorenz.
Richard ruffled his hair in frustration, about to roar and vent his anger, but stopped when he noticed the man guarding the cave entrance out of the corner of his eye.
His little friend still always carries a sword.
But the other person's cold aura softened when bathed in the pure moonlight.
Everyone else had left, so why was the little kid standing foolishly at the door? Richard wouldn't admit that he was smitten by the other person's good looks; he just remembered that the other person seemed to have something to say to him.
So he leaped up from his throne, which was nestled among piles of gold coins, and amidst the melodious sound of the treasures flowing, he walked with elegant steps toward Xie Mulang outside the cave.
The other party was quite perceptive; he had already looked at Richard when Richard left the throne. Those dark eyebrows and eyes were still as sharp as ever. If Richard hadn't experienced the other party's gentleness before, he would have been deceived by the other party.
But now, the other person is staring intently at him.
They stared at me intently, with eyes that seemed to scrutinize a sword.
A faint smile appeared in Yinlong's eyes, but he forced himself to remain calm and walked at a leisurely pace, in rhythm with the rise and fall of his heart.
He stood before the other person until he could see every single hair on their head clearly in the darkness.
Now, we are all bathed in the same moonlight. Richard thought to himself, his silver eyes shining like the starlight that had long since vanished.
Seeing that the other person remained silent, Richard spoke first, "This morning you said you had something to say to me. Now that it's just the two of us, you can speak freely."
Having witnessed countless romantic encounters on Dragon Island, he could already tell what the other person wanted to say just by looking at their appearance.
However, with so many people around, he was inevitably a little nervous and at a loss, so he simply put the other person out of his mind.
In fact, even now...
He was still not ready.
But to his surprise, the man opposite him remained silent for a long time before speaking in a hoarse voice: "I have heard that when dragons unite with their partners, they sign a contract to share their lives."
This was the first time he had ever heard Xie Mulang's voice so hoarse, like bamboo broken by a pile of snow.
Richard didn't think much of it and nodded, "That's right. After all, we dragons are generally quite fickle, and it's easy for us to fall in love with someone we meet on a whim, so a contract is a kind of guarantee."
What he didn't say was that if someone was willing to sign such a contract, it must be because they were deeply in love with the other person.
It wasn't that I was deliberately hiding it, but I felt quite embarrassed to talk about such things in front of Xie Mulang.
But after hearing his answer, Xie Mulang fell silent again, for a longer time than ever before.
Richard was a little bewildered. Even if he was slow to notice, he could see that the man in front of him was acting strangely.
I just don't know what happened during the day that caused such a big change in the other person.
In his anxious wait, he finally heard the other person speak hesitantly, "Although I may not be qualified to say this, I think, Mr. Long, you shouldn't sign that kind of contract with His Highness Lorenz..."
"What did you call me?" Richard frowned, staring intently at the man opposite him.
A bad feeling rose in his heart, and his irritability made it hard for him to maintain his indifferent expression.
Xie Mulang didn't look at him again, but said in a low voice, "I'm sorry, Mr. Long. I guess I was just meddling in other people's business."
What does this mean?
Did the other party just hear some rumors on the island and then back down?
Richard was so angry he almost laughed; for a moment, he felt like a clown.
His face turned cold, and he mocked casually, "I thought you were going to confess your feelings to me."
Upon hearing this, Xie Mulang looked at him with great surprise, then quickly looked away.
The other person's skin was clearly very dark, but his face was frighteningly pale. It was the first time Richard had ever seen Xie Mulang look so vulnerable.
He pressed on, asking, "Then let me ask you, do you like me or not?"
Although he had made up his mind not to take the initiative anymore, Richard still wanted to know an answer.
He stared intently at the other person's tightly closed thin lips, his gaze burning like fire, as if he wanted to burn a hole in the other person's face.
I don't know how much time passed, but even the bright moonlight was obscured by thick clouds, and the world was plunged into darkness. Only the gems in the cave reflected a faint, cold light through the smooth stone walls.
“No,” Richard heard the other person reply.
It was just two simple words, yet they weighed heavily on him, making it hard for him to breathe.
But Xie Mulang still offered a weak explanation, "We are both men, and I, Xie, dare not harbor any romantic thoughts towards Mr. Long."
Richard could no longer hear the second half of what the other person said.
In his mind, the six words "We are both men" strangely overlapped with Lorenz's words from ten years ago, "We are both male."
In an instant, the sea of his spirit surged with stormy waves. The lingering nightmare was like a curse, and the budding expectations were uprooted and crushed along with his fragile self-esteem, plunging him into an abyss of no return.
Richard suddenly burst out laughing.
“Very well. Remember what you said today.” He sneered.
Richard didn't want to see Xie Mulang anymore, so he turned around and walked into the dark and deep cave without looking back.
