Chapter 35 Tranquility

Yun Wei's gaze swept over everyone present in turn. He said, "This is all the information we have so far. What are your thoughts?"

Unexpectedly, they had to conduct two brainstorming sessions within 24 hours.

But last night's trial was far too arduous, and they must race against time to prepare for the third trial.

“‘Holy Night, First Chapter’ sounds like a script,” Vivian mused. “I suspect the script for this story comes from the court secrets of the First Dynasty.”

Yun Wei nodded in agreement, "Therefore, we need to find out exactly what 'Holy Night' is before the trial begins."

At this point, he frowned in confusion, "I've been in the library whenever I have free time these past few days, but I've found that almost all the records about the War of Glory and those before it seem to have disappeared."

He had already copied down the low-to-mid-level water-based spells, and also copied down some practical spells from other systems. Most of the rest of his time was spent investigating what exactly happened in the War of Glory eight hundred years ago.

Then he was surprised to find that, apart from the general history in the textbook, all the related parchment scrolls were vague when it came to the Battle of Glorious War, as if the clues had been deliberately erased.

This has resulted in him knowing nothing about Isaac's past to this day. All the indexes about "Moriti" found in the library point to the holy mountain of the Church of Radiant Light, Mount St. Moriti.

Apart from that, it was spotless.

However, his followers were tight-lipped about everything that had happened in the past, and always avoided talking about it. Yun Wei didn't quite believe that they could change their attitude in just a few days.

Perhaps he should have another frank talk with Isaac later. Yun Wei thought to himself as he looked at the servant opposite him.

“That sounds exhausting.” Richard pursed his lips and sighed, “We only have three days left. How are we supposed to possibly finish looking through all that messy material in the library?”

Xie Mulang was also helpless. He couldn't spend too much time in the library. "Maybe it's not just about written records. I want to go to the ruins during the day to investigate and see if there are any unexpected discoveries."

Upon hearing this, Richard immediately perked up, patted the other man on the shoulder, and said, "That's right, I'll go with you."

Vivian glanced at him with a hint of disdain, thinking this teammate was somewhat unreliable. She said to Yun Wei, "Then, Claude, let's go to the library together tomorrow afternoon."

“Count me in. I’ll go with you.” Isaac suddenly spoke up, staring straight at Yun Wei. He had sensed some dissatisfaction from the other’s gaze earlier and was eager to gain some points.

Yun Wei met his gaze, but asked meaningfully, "Isaac, have you heard of 'Holy Night'?"

This can be considered a test mixed with personal motives.

He suspected that Isaac's identity was not just that of the first Grand Master of the Knights; he suspected that the man was also connected to the Second Dynasty.

He spent the last few days intensively browsing indexes in the library and discovered that there were two main missing parts in the mainland's knowledge system: one was the history of the Glorious War and the Second Dynasty, and the other was the "Abyss".

Yun Wei wasn't surprised at all by the lack of records about the 'Abyss,' since the Abyss was inherently indescribable. However, the absence of historical records did raise Yun Wei's suspicions; it was such a typical plot device, brimming with the scent of conspiracy.

However, Isaac happened to know some information about both of them, which made Yun Wei suspect Isaac's true identity during the War of Glory.

His identity before being posthumously named the first Grand Master of the Knights.

After all, becoming a level 7 professional at the age of twenty requires not only talent, but also countless resources.

As for Isaac's motive for concealing it from him...

After nearly two months of getting to know each other, Yun Wei had no doubts about the other party's character, which must have been based on his own considerations.

To Yun Wei's surprise, Isaac nodded and said, "The last monarch of the First Dynasty was a notorious tyrant, and his name is still a taboo subject that cannot be mentioned even now."

"On the night he died suddenly, the First Dynasty was replaced by the Second Dynasty. And that night became known as the 'Holy Night'."

Everyone was surprised to hear this, but they all tacitly refrained from asking further questions. Only Richard smiled knowingly, revealing an expression that said, "I knew it."

Vivian sighed and shook her head, saying, "Although it seems like we've found our direction in the ocean, it doesn't feel easy at all. The destination feels like an island we can never reach."

The records left on the continent of Zhuyuan are still unclear, even regarding the history of the Second Dynasty. How can they possibly find out the history of the First Dynasty?

The group remained silent. Yun Wei clapped his hands and comforted them, "Alright, at least we still have a significant advantage over those who come later." If even they can't find any clues now, it will be even more difficult for future trainees to uncover the truth of the past.

Yun Wei had a vague feeling that it was a destiny for the five of them to come to Lunagal Academy.

This was a sudden realization that arose within him after witnessing that mysterious eternity in Isaac's spiritual sea.

“I am the one who steals destiny.”

He suddenly spoke, uttering these words, and even he himself was stunned afterward.

Did he see this quote somewhere?

He couldn't recall it at all for the time being. Yun Wei frowned. He felt like someone had said those words to him, but he had absolutely no memory of it at the moment.

Vivian's eyes lit up, and she exclaimed sincerely, "Did you write this poem yourself? It sounds incredibly elegant. Claude, you are truly talented!"

Yun Wei felt a little uneasy, so he just laughed it off and brushed it off.

...

After leaving "Nature's Gift," the other three returned to the academy to conduct their investigation. Yun Wei, needing to pick up the clothes she had ordered earlier from a clothing store at the other end of the street, said goodbye to them first.

And Isaac naturally stayed with him.

The shirt was made for Isaac on the first day after arriving in Moonflower City. The sun was shining brightly, and Yunwei, accompanied by Isaac, was sightseeing and shopping around like a tourist.

However, a week later, the initial joy of arriving in Moonflower City had vanished, replaced by a heavy heart.

Yun Wei couldn't help but sigh softly. He said to Isaac, "Let's talk tonight."

Isaac nodded slowly upon hearing this. He could tell that Yun Wei was feeling down, but he didn't know how to comfort him.

Yun Wei laughed and casually told a story, "It's nothing, Isaac. It's past three in the afternoon, which is when people are most prone to feeling down and lonely."

“There used to be a saying that humans lived in caves long ago and led a primitive life of hunting and fishing. If hunters did not return to their caves to reunite with their companions by sunset, they might be left alone in the wild and eventually be eaten by roaming wild animals.”

"Therefore, it is natural to feel lonely and depressed at this time, as it is our instinct to protect us."

Isaac, however, had never heard of such a story. He thought it must be a tale from Yun's homeland, a strange continent that Yun had never been willing to elaborate on.

Thinking about this, he suddenly felt depressed.

It seems there's some truth to this story. His gaze remained fixed on Yun Wei beside him.

The two were passing by the grocery store when Yun Wei suddenly brightened up, turned to him, and said, "Wait a minute, Isaac, I'm going to buy something."

It turned out that Yun Wei saw the good quality, tanned leather and the rough paper newly made in Alchemy City on the shelf, which suddenly gave him a flash of inspiration. He wanted to memorize the Tao Te Ching and give it to Xie Mulang.

Recent events have made him less confident in his memory. A bad pen is better than a good memory; he'd better memorize what he can as soon as possible.

...

Red Moon City has been reduced to a desolate wasteland.

Deep beneath the sacred mountain, if one were to descend along that bottomless abyss for hundreds of millions of kilometers, one would cross the 'wall' breached when the Continent of Primordial Chaos was invaded, and arrive at another vast and boundless place.

It was like another universe, except that all the stars had become dim and lifeless, as if their energy had been drained. Because all the stars had stopped shining, there was no light in this world.

At the heart of this universe, where chaos and suffering reign, lies a magnificent bed. Four sharp bedposts are riddled with countless skulls of bizarre creatures.

A sinister-looking man sat reclining on the bed, his eyes alluring, his right hand caressing a head with wide-open, angry eyes. He twisted his slender waist with boneless suppleness, and a series of eerie moans poured out from his slightly closed red lips.

In the void beneath the bed, a subordinate hidden in a cloak was kneeling, his exposed tentacles now hanging obediently on the ground, as if terrified.

After a long while, the head, with its eyes wide open in death, turned into a pale skull under the man's palm on the bed.

"Fahris." The person on the bed seemed to only then notice the servant crawling below, and spoke without any concern. The voice was eerie and strange, neither like a man nor a woman, but simply sharp and piercing.

"My lord." Upon hearing the summons, the kneeling servant quickly responded, revealing the octopus head hidden in his cloak.

"How is the situation on the Zhuyuan Continent?" the person on the bed asked casually, his sharp fingernails seemingly innocently scraping against the gaps in his skull, producing a piercing and terrifying sound.

“My Lord, everything is fine and progressing according to plan, but—” Fahris hesitated.

"Just?" The person on the bed lifted their eyelids, and their clear black and white eyeballs shifted wildly at a frequency of over 100 hertz, until finally the pupils were reduced to a tiny black dot the size of a grain of rice.

“But… Target number one is acting strangely,” Fahris said, breaking out in a cold sweat. “It seems the target has been captured by a Grand Magus and taken to his bedroom for some kind of experimentation, preventing our mental erosion from continuing…”

As everyone knows, you can never beat a magician in your bedroom.

"Oh?" The person on the bed thought about it casually for a moment, then grinned with disgust. "It's him. It doesn't matter. He's become a filthy, lowly, bloodthirsty monster. He can't cause any trouble. You can continue to advance your other targets."

"Yes." Fahris nodded repeatedly, feeling as if he had been granted a pardon.

"Is there anything else to report?" the person on the bed asked coldly, extremely impatient.

"..." Fahris recalled the necromancer with strange mental power he had met in the dungeon, and the other party's calm and pale face appeared in front of him.

If word gets out, the Lord will surely demand an explanation as to why he went to the Holy Mountain dungeon...

He's just a level three necromancer; let's not cause any more trouble.

His peripheral vision caught a glimpse of the sharp fingernails on the person on the bed, and a chill ran down his spine. He quickly replied, "My lord, there is nothing more to report."

"Then you may leave." The person on the bed waved his hand dismissively.

He held the white bone he cherished in his palm and stuck out his scarlet tongue into the hollow of his eye socket.
