Chapter 19: The Family Finally Separated

Xiao Jingchuan and his wife smiled at each other, his eyes filled with anticipation for their future life.

Three days later!

With several respected elders and Deng Chengen as witnesses, Granny Yang officially divided the family property.

Although there were some setbacks along the way, it went relatively smoothly overall.

Shen Yunsheng and his wife got their wish and acquired five acres of land in Baihua Mountain. The second wife got fertile fields and vegetable gardens. The sorghum from the mountain land went to the eldest wife, while the rice from the fields went to the second wife.

As for the houses, they were divided fairly: the east wing went to the eldest son's wife, the west wing to the second son's wife, and the main house to Granny Yang.

Fearing that the eldest son's family would be a burden to her, Granny Yang noted in the family division document that she would live with the second son's family from now on, and the eldest son's family would only need to give her five taels of silver every year.

At first, Shen Yunsheng tried to persuade her father-in-law to give less money, but her father-in-law felt that Granny Yang had a hard life, so he agreed to give her five taels.

Each household should have one set of kitchen cookware.

Because there was no extra kitchen, Granny Yang had her two sons share the kitchen.

In fact, Shen Yunsheng did not want to share a kitchen with the second wife at all. She planned to set up a small kitchen at the entrance of the east wing, far away from the second wife's house.

Just as Shen Yunsheng and her sister-in-law moved the cookware back to the bedroom, Granny Yang walked towards them.

“Jingchuan’s family, you’ve already received what you were entitled to. Don’t go around saying I’m biased anymore.”

"Don't worry, now that we've separated, I don't care who you favor."

Shen Yunsheng had already decided that once she had saved enough money, she would move out of the Xiao family compound. She couldn't be bothered to look at the old poisonous woman's face.

Granny Yang glanced at Shen Yunsheng, then smiled and instructed, "Jingchuan's wife, you and Wanqing go cook. We'll have a farewell dinner."
