The one who starts it is despicable.

The one who starts it is despicable.

Jin Minzhi was studying when he heard the servant come in to announce that Jin Xiaoxiao had arrived. He quickly put down his books, got up, and went to greet her, "Xiaoxiao, what happened?"

Jin Xiaoxiao grabbed his sleeve and pulled him towards the outer door. "Brother, quickly call all the experts you hired today. I need them."

"Xiaoxiao, don't worry. Shumo, go and invite them all over."

As night deepened, all the lights in the Jin family's house were turned off. Three dark figures silently slipped into the Jin family's house.

Jin Xiaoxiao sat on the courtyard wall of Old Madam Jin and patted the person sitting next to her.

Upon receiving instructions, Ji Yun jumped off the wall and drew his sword, slashing at Yue Xiao, who was in the middle of the three.

More than twenty men emerged from the darkness, drawing their bows and arrows, and surrounded the three men.

"Release the arrows!"

At a command, a rain of arrows was fired at the three men.

Yue Xiao discovered the ambush and tried to escape, but Ji Jun blocked his way with his sword.

Jin Xiaoxiao watched the battlefield below with bated breath. She hadn't originally planned to involve Ji Jun in the operation, but since Ji Jun had asked her for help for the first time, Jin Xiaoxiao decided to trust him.

Yue Xiao's moves were disrupted by the stray arrows, so although Ji Jun's martial arts were not as good as Yue Xiao's, he was able to fight him to a standstill.

Out of the corner of his eye, Yue Xiao saw that both of his subordinates had been hit by arrows. He grabbed one of his subordinates to shield him from the arrows and leaped to grab Jin Xiaoxiao.

Before he could touch her, Jin Xiaoxiao laughed and leaned back, avoiding his hand.

A large net was cast over Yue Xiao's head, and several people appeared on both sides, trapping him in the net.

Jin Minzhi caught Jin Xiaoxiao, and seeing her laughing and joking, Jin Minzhi couldn't maintain her serious expression. She patted Jin Xiaoxiao's head affectionately and said, "You."

Seeing that he couldn't break free, Yue Xiao whistled loudly.

He's going to call for help! Jin Xiaoxiao yelled, "Splash him!"

Shumo, who had been waiting for a long time, aimed at Yue Xiao's face and accurately splashed the filth from the chamber pot onto Yue Xiao's face.

Upon hearing Jin Xiaoxiao's voice, Ji Jun climbed over the wall and carried her back to the wall. Seeing Yue Xiao's disheveled appearance, Jin Xiaoxiao couldn't help but laugh out loud with schadenfreude.

"Haha, Ji Jun, today is truly a wonderful day!"

Ji Jun echoed her earnestly, "I will remember this. Today is a good day."

The people who had been shouting arrived quickly, and the people pulling the net quickly let go and scattered.

With a livid face, Yue Xiao tore off the net binding his body. He turned around and pointed at Jin Xiaoxiao with a sinister look, but a drop of yellow liquid on his nose fell into his open mouth.

Jin Xiaoxiao laughed even louder, clutching her stomach. "Ouch! I've only ever heard of dogs eating poop, I never knew people ate poop! I've really learned something new today."

Amidst Jin Xiaoxiao's mocking laughter, Yue Xiao fled in disarray.

Jin Minzhi pushed open the door and came out, gently scolding her, "Xiaoxiao, come down here right now. You're a young lady, don't be so rude in your words and actions."

"You're so old-fashioned. I think Xiaoxiao is just fine the way she is!"

Jin Xiaoxiao almost fell when she heard Old Madam Jin's voice, but fortunately Ji Jun caught her in time.

"grandmother!"

Grandma Jin stood at the courtyard gate, wearing a robe, looking up at her. "Hmm? Is Xiaoxiao reluctant to come down?"

Jin Xiaoxiao tugged at Ji Jun's sleeve, and Ji Jun hugged her tightly and leaped lightly, landing steadily.

Jin Xiaoxiao silently slid down from Ji Jun's arms, ran to the old lady Jin, and readily admitted her mistake, "Grandmother, it's my fault for waking you up."

Grandma Jin took her hand and said, "It's not Xiaoxiao's fault. It's just that Grandma is old and doesn't need much sleep. Xiaoxiao's hands are all cold. Come inside with Grandma to warm them up."

Jin Xiaoxiao obediently followed the old lady. Before entering the house, she looked back at Jin Minzhi, who nodded to her.

Jin Xiaoxiao didn't understand the meaning behind her brother's nod, but fortunately she could see that his expression wasn't bad, so she felt slightly relieved.

Madam Jin placed the hand warmer into Jin Xiaoxiao's hands and then asked someone to cook sweet soup for her.

"Xiaoxiao, Grandma has lots of fun and delicious things here. Would you like to come play at Grandma's every day from now on?"

Jin Xiaoxiao touched the hand warmer in silence. She accepted Jin Minzhi because Jin Minzhi treated her sincerely.

As the matriarch of the Jin family, Jin Xiaoxiao dared not get close to Old Madam Jin. Moreover, Jin Xiaoxiao suspected that Old Madam Jin had noticed something unusual about her and wanted to observe her more closely.

Jin Xiaoxiao didn't answer, and the old lady Jin wasn't annoyed. She smiled, and the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes resembled blooming flowers. "If Xiaoxiao doesn't want to, then so be it. Grandmother won't force you."

A maid brought over some sweet soup, and Madam Jin said softly, "Eat quickly, you must be hungry after all that commotion late at night."

After saying that, he looked up and instructed the maid, "Go and send a bowl to Minzhi as well."

Jin Xiaoxiao accepted the sweet soup. "Thank you, Grandma."

Seeing her obediently scooping up the sweet soup to eat, Old Madam Jin's smile widened. "Xiaoxiao, do you think Grandmother should keep Aunt locked up?"

Jin Xiaoxiao's heart skipped a beat; her interview questions were about to begin!

Jin Xiaoxiao's innocent and naive persona has been shattered in front of Old Madam Jin; she can no longer get away with pretending to be innocent and foolish.

She put down the soup spoon and placed her hands properly on her knees. "Grandmother is keeping Aunt locked up for her own good, but Aunt has nothing to do, so she starts to overthink. I think Grandmother should arrange some things for Aunt to do, so that Aunt won't have time to overthink."

After hearing this, Old Madam Jin patted Jin Xiaoxiao's little head and said, "Heaven has not forsaken the Jin family!"

Jin Xiaoxiao was reserved around her, so the old lady Jin let her go after she finished the sweet soup.

The next day, Old Master Jin sent a large pile of things to Jin Xiaoxiao.

The second wife was quite shocked after taking inventory of the items. She pointed to a mahogany box and asked Master Jin, "Husband, these are all valuable pieces of jewelry. Why did Mother give them to Xiaoxiao?"

Master Jin sat leisurely in his armchair, sipping his tea. "It's fine to send it. My mother is just showing her concern with a smile. Madam, there's no need to be nervous."

Jin Xiaoxiao saw Old Madam Jin's head maid, Luoluo, out of the gate of Buquan Courtyard. Suddenly, Luoluo crouched down and whispered in Jin Xiaoxiao's ear, "Second Miss, the Old Madam said that if you need anything in the future, just go to the accounting office to withdraw money. The accountant has already been informed by the Old Madam."

Jin Xiaoxiao raised her eyebrows slightly. Considering her grandmother's remarks last night, she must have succeeded in the interview and caught the eye of Old Madam Jin.

She smiled sweetly at the pothos plant and said, "Thank you, sister, I understand."

As Green Ivy was about to leave after delivering her message, Jin Xiaoxiao suddenly took out her purse, grabbed a handful of melon seeds, and stuffed them into her hand.

"Sister, you must be tired from your trip. The weather is getting warmer, so I'll treat you to some ice cream."

Green Ivy did not refuse, saying, "Thank you for your consideration, Second Miss."

Seeing that she accepted it, Jin Xiaoxiao didn't hold back and asked her for information, "Sister, do you know when Aunt will be released from confinement?"

"The old lady instructed that the young lady should go out and check the accounts tomorrow."

"Great! I'm going to ask my aunt to take me out to play tomorrow."

Seeing that she had no further instructions, Green Ivy straightened up and said, "Second Miss, please wait. This servant will return now."

Ji Yun had just finished practicing martial arts and came to find Jin Xiaoxiao with Jin Minzhi.

Upon seeing them, Jin Xiaoxiao's smile became genuine. "Let's go inspect the shops."

Perfume and soap sales remained brisk, and Jin Xiaoxiao was very satisfied, deciding to treat herself to some shopping.

She turned and walked towards the stall on the right.

Just then, an old man with gray hair and patched clothes was being chased by three fierce-looking men. He lost his footing and fell towards Jin Xiaoxiao.

"Xiaoxiao, be careful."

Hearing Jin Minzhi's urgent call, Jin Xiaoxiao subconsciously turned around, and the old man's thin face appeared larger and larger in her pupils.

Jin Minzhi ran quickly toward Jin Xiaoxiao, but Ji Jun arrived at Jin Xiaoxiao's side even faster.

Ji Jun crouched down and slid between the old man and Jin Xiaoxiao, stood up straight, and stretched out his arms to support the old man's shoulders, stabilizing his body.

A strand of Ji Jun's hair brushed against Jin Xiaoxiao's cheek, and she blinked gently.

When Jin Minzhi saw that Ji Yun had blocked the old man, her heart, which had stopped abruptly, returned to normal.

After confirming that Jin Xiaoxiao was unharmed, Jin Minzhi grabbed the old man's arm and pulled him up.

"father!"

Jin Xiaoxiao looked in the direction of the shouts and saw a beautiful young woman being blocked by a burly bully with a fierce face.

The bully stared at her face with ill intent. "Little beauty, your father broke my jade pendant. If you don't want your father to go to jail, come home with me."

She tried several directions but still couldn't get around the bully. She glared at the bully blocking her way and shouted, "Get out of my way!"

The bully stared greedily at the girl and waved his hand, ordering, "Grab the old man!"

Upon receiving the order, one of the three servants pushed Jin Minzhi aside, while the other two dragged the old man to their master's side.

Jin Minzhi took two steps back to steady herself. Seeing Jin Xiaoxiao's stern face, Jin Minzhi shook her head to indicate that she was alright.

The old man's eyes reddened as he defended himself, "I didn't break that jade of yours. I didn't even touch your clothes."

The bully seemed not to hear, still staring intently at the girl. "Beauty, come home with me, and I'll buy you gold and silver jewelry worth ten thousand taels, as well as fine silks and satins. Besides, I won't hold your father accountable for breaking the jade pendant; I'll reward him with a thousand taels of silver. How about that?"

The girl lowered her eyes and remained silent, seemingly moved.

The old man's lips trembled, "Ginkgo!"

Yue Xiao had arranged to meet someone on the second floor of the teahouse to discuss business. After finishing his conversation, he sat for a while and took in the whole scene. The position he was sitting in happened to be diagonally above Jin Xiaoxiao.

"Ha, the blood of the lowly flows in their veins, they despise the poor and love the rich."

Jin Xiaoxiao looked up and met Yue Xiao's arrogant and disdainful gaze, her brows furrowing.

Yue Xiao withdrew his gaze and toyed with the white porcelain teacup. "It seems you don't agree."

"Is the 'lowly people' that Young Master Yue is referring to the common folk?"

"So what if it is?"

"But I remember that our Great Qi's founding emperor was also born in the dawn. According to Young Master Yue, the founding emperor is equivalent to a commoner!" Jin Xiaoxiao deliberately raised her voice, "Young Master Yue, how dare you slander the founding emperor! This is a great disrespect to the founding emperor!"

The teacup shattered into pieces, and fresh blood mixed with tea flowed from Yue Xiao's palm.

Yue Xiao brushed aside the servant who was bandaging his wounds, his eyes filled with murderous intent as he glared at Jin Xiaoxiao. "Kid, this is the third time you've provoked me."

Jin Xiaoxiao looked him straight in the eye, "Young Master Yue, the one who starts the fight is despicable."

"Kid, very good! Very good!" Yue Xiao said through gritted teeth before disappearing from the teahouse.

"Father! No!"

The piercing cries and the screams of the crowd made Jin Xiaoxiao tremble.
