Chapter 26 Wen Yao was caught red-handed
"Fu Lizhi, don't drink it! It's been spiked!"
A scream seemed to pour a handful of ice water over the noisy private room, instantly freezing the atmosphere.
No one present knew what was going on, their eyes darting between Zhao Xinting, who was shouting, and Fu Lizhi, who was holding a cup.
Zhao Xinting was both excited and nervous. People always pay more attention to their enemies and their sweethearts than to strangers.
This kind of attention is almost a conditioned reflex and is difficult to control.
When Zhao Guang was dancing, everyone's attention was focused on him, except for Zhao Xinting, who kept staring at Wen Yao for no apparent reason.
This observation actually led her to discover something.
In the dim light, Zhao Xinting only saw Wen Yao furtively take out a medicine packet and pour it into the drink.
At first, she didn't understand what was going on, but she felt something was wrong and subconsciously took out her phone to record a video.
It wasn't until later that she saw with her own eyes that Wen Yao gave the drugged drink to Fu Lizhi!
Zhao Xinting should have stopped Fu Lizhi from drinking it immediately, but she worried that if Fu Lizhi didn't drink any, Wen Yao's crime would be too minor and the evidence insufficient.
Zhao Xinting practically ran to Fu Lizhi, her eyes fixed on the drink, as if afraid that Wen Yao's "evidence" would be destroyed.
Fu Lizhi's smile faded slightly, and his well-defined fingers gripped the glass in his hand tightly.
He was already 80% convinced because the drink tasted very wrong; it was supposed to be sweet and sour grape juice, but it had a strange astringent taste.
The drink was handed to him by Wen Yao. Fu Lizhi didn't think his sister-in-law would harm him; he was afraid she had been plotted against by someone else.
"Why do you say that, Miss Zhao?" Fu Lizhi decided to suppress the matter for Wen Yao. "Who would be so bold as to drug me?"
He only took a sip, so it shouldn't be a big problem. No one would be stupid enough to poison someone at a party like this. It's more important to calm things down first.
After this incident, Zhao Yang, the organizer of the gathering, naturally wouldn't stay put. His handsome face turned cold, putting a lot of pressure on others.
"Xinting, how do you know someone drugged you? Were you drunk?"
Zhao Xinting is from a collateral branch of the Zhao family, and usually calls him cousin. However, this cousin has never been a very bright person. She is reckless and impulsive, and is easily targeted by others.
"I wasn't drunk, I saw it with my own eyes!" Sensing that the two were trying to downplay the matter, Zhao Xinting was both anxious and resentful.
She pointed at Wen Yao, her short hair slightly disheveled, her earrings swaying as she breathed heavily. "Wen Yao put something in the cup, I saw it clearly!"
She took a deep breath, preparing to say that she had filmed the video, but was interrupted by Fu Yan.
Fu Yan's eyes were filled with disbelief. "Zhao Xinting, are you crazy? I know you don't like my second sister-in-law, but that doesn't mean you have to throw such mud at me!"
What reason would Wen Yao have to drug her eldest brother? It couldn't possibly be because her second brother was fighting for the family fortune; that would be ridiculous.
People around were whispering among themselves, their opinions divided.
"The Fu family appears to have a good relationship, but who can say for sure about families like ours? They might be fighting over the family fortune behind the scenes."
"No way, Fu Jinzhi is now in charge of the Fu family. They are already beneficiaries, so there's no need for them to take such a risk by poisoning someone."
"Hey, hey, hey, have you forgotten that Zhao Xinting has been targeting Wen Yao? It could very well be a slander!"
"Speaking of which, Zhao Xinting and An Ruoruo used to be very close..."
...
Hearing Fu Yan's accusations and the intermittent voices around her, Zhao Xinting was secretly pleased. It would be better for her if things got out of hand, since she had evidence.
After a brief moment of surprise, Wen Yao quickly regained her composure. She gently pushed Fu Yan, who was blocking her way, aside and faced Zhao Xinting directly.
There's no reason for anyone to stand in her way when she does what she's doing.
Wen Yao's bright eyes were open and honest, and her voice was calm and unhurried, "A misunderstanding has actually caused you to make such a big fuss."
"Ha, is it really a misunderstanding?" Zhao Xinting sneered, shaking her phone with an arrogant expression. "Then let's project it onto the big screen and let everyone see the truth."
No one stopped her as Zhao Xinting walked toward the audio-visual equipment through the gaps in the crowd that automatically parted.
It connected to my phone in less than a minute and started playing videos.
Zhao Xinting's iPhone has a great video recording function; even in dim lighting, she can clearly see that the person in the video is indeed Wen Yao.
The video, which is less than three minutes long, clearly shows Wen Yao opening her bag, taking something out, tearing open the bag, and pouring it into a drink.
Everyone was focused on the screen, and Wen Yao was also watching with great interest.
Zhao Xinting's candid photos have a touch of arthouse cinema.
The dim lighting in the scene made Wen Yao's skin appear as smooth and white as a pearl, and the dress had a beautiful drape, fluttering like a black butterfly with her subtle movements.
In this situation, Wen Yao had an inappropriate thought: She really suits the big screen, maybe she should go into the entertainment industry and show off her beauty?
Zhao Xinting's sarcastic remarks interrupted her imagination, "It can't have come to this point. You're still going to say that it was a misunderstanding that you didn't drug her, right?"
"This isn't medication; I was just preparing health supplements," Wen Yao said helplessly, spreading her hands.
"The misunderstanding I was referring to was that the cup with the medicine should have been mine, but I accidentally handed it to my older brother."
Zhao Xinting became increasingly excited. She knew that Fu Lizhi would protect Wen Yao, and no matter what lame excuse Wen Yao gave, he would cooperate.
However, she has another compelling piece of evidence!
This time, we'll definitely crush Wen Yao!
Zhao Xinting walked up to Wen Yao, her face full of malice, her voice barely concealing her excitement: "Since you say it's a health product, do you dare to take it out and let us see it?"
"Don't tell me you can't find the bag; I just saw you stuff the packaging bag into your bag."
"Wouldn't everything become clear once it's brought to light?"
She drew everyone's attention to the bag in Wen Yao's hand, her gaze firm and confident.
If it wasn't some kind of low-quality drug, why would Wen Yao put the packaging bag in her bag? She could have just thrown it in the trash!
However, Wen Yao was only focused on her task, so she casually stuffed the package into her bag.
Wen Yao curled her lips into a smile, her eyes full of amusement. She deliberately raised her voice, making it soft and gentle: "If it really is a health product, how will Miss Zhao compensate me?"
"Ha." Zhao Xinting had already concluded that Wen Yao was just bluffing. She said decisively, "If it's health supplements, then I'll kneel down and apologize to you in public."
“Okay.” Wen Yao smiled and handed the bag to her directly. “It’s not fair for me to do it myself, so let Miss Zhao search it under everyone’s supervision.”
As soon as the bag landed in Zhao Xinting's hands, she had a bad feeling. Why did Wen Yao give it to her so readily?
Zhao Xinting bit her lip and opened the bag's clasp with a large movement.
The small bag wasn't filled with much; it only contained small items that women usually carry when going out.
Cell phone, cushion foundation, lipstick, tissues...
There's also a strikingly different gold and red interwoven packaging bag that stands out immediately.
The six large characters above are very eye-catching:
Donkey-hide gelatin blood-tonifying granules.
