Chapter 117 [VIP] Lifesaver (4)
Nan Yan naturally saw that this man was angry and hypocritical, but it did not prevent her from seizing the opportunity at all. She slowly moved closer, blinked twice, and then gently pressed her cheek against his chest. Hearing his obviously accelerated heartbeat, she suddenly pursed her lips and smiled softly,
"Jin Lili, I like you so much."
"I like you very much, I like you very much. Can you marry me as soon as possible? I want to see you the first thing when I wake up every day..."
She put her fingers on his shoulders and leaned her whole body in his arms. Her voice was soft when she said this, and she looked at him sincerely. Her eyes seemed to contain endless emotions, which was very different from her usual fooling around.
Nan Yan's eyelashes drooped slightly. Of course she did it on purpose.
Anyway, she had already stirred his mind. If she revealed her feelings a little more, it would completely disrupt the whole situation. She would not care about the rest.
When Jin Lili heard this, his body paused slightly. He tried hard to calm his inner turmoil, but the man in front of him suddenly said this, which made him silent.
Jin Lili took a deep breath, not knowing what he was thinking about. His expression gradually calmed down. He neither reached out to hug her as usual, nor did he push her away. Instead, he casually picked up the gauze on the table and wrapped it around her wound. Then he asked in a low voice,
"So what do you like about me?"
Speaking of this, the person in his arms became more energetic. She also got up from Jin Lili's arms, and then counted on her fingers, looking at him with a frown.
"A lot. You've been very kind to me, helping me out and smiling at me. Do you remember the first time we met? I was bullied at the banquet and I had no power to fight back. It was you who helped me out and later caught up with me and gave me some delicious cakes to cheer me up..."
Nan Yan was still talking tirelessly, with a gleam in her eyes, as if as long as she talked about this matter, she could talk about it for three days and three nights without getting bored.
But Jin Lili frowned subconsciously, but realized something and quickly restrained himself, then pretended to be indifferent and asked casually, "Yan Yan, you said something wrong, the first time we met was not at the banquet, but at the farm where you spent the summer."
Hearing this, Nan Yan's face turned pale for a moment, but soon returned to normal. She raised her head and glanced at Jin Lili, who had a faint smile on his face. As if she had just reacted, she smiled dryly at him and said, "Well... you are right. It was dark at that time. It was in that farm. We... met for the first time. But it has been a little too long. I almost forgot it."
Her voice suddenly became much softer and her fingers were twisting her collar, which was a subconscious movement she made when she was nervous, probably because she was afraid that he would notice something.
Jin Lili looked down at her and didn't expose her directly, but his heart gradually calmed down, and those strange and weird emotions just now disappeared completely.
Nan Yan hesitated for a while, and no one knew what she was thinking. Her eyes fell on his face again, she pursed her lips, and then asked unwillingly,
She said, "Jin Lili, if I hadn't saved you that night at the farm, or if it wasn't me who saved you, I'm just saying if, would you... still be so nice to me? Would you still like me?"
After saying this, she looked at his face seriously, not wanting to miss any expression on his face, and looking forward to the answer he would give.
After hearing this question, Jin Lili frowned slightly, lowered his head, and looked at Nan Yan's face. She looked a little nervous, with her lips slightly pursed. There were still some wet marks on her lips, which were left when she kissed him just now. Jin Lili did not answer her directly, but asked her this question, "If I hadn't helped you out at the banquet, coaxed you to be happy, and didn't show up in time to save you when you were frightened, would you still like me?"
Hearing this, Nan Yan was obviously stunned.
Then, a confused and dazed look appeared on her face, as if this question had stumped her and she didn't know how to answer for a moment.
Then, she heard the person next to her say to her very calmly, "If you hadn't saved me that night, there would be no Jin Lili in this world. It was because you saved me that I helped you with all those things later. If it wasn't you from the beginning, I would never have thought of getting close to you from the beginning to the end. Do you understand?"
After saying this, Jin Lili's emotions completely calmed down, and he became the silent Mr. Jin of the past again.
His meaning was very clear.
If it wasn't her, Li Nanyan, who saved him, then she wouldn't be the one he liked in the beginning.
This realization made Nan Yan unconsciously clench her fingers.
She pursed her lips and lowered her head without knowing when. Her eyes flickered slightly and her face looked a little unhappy. But she soon came to her senses and explained in a muffled voice, pretending not to care.
"I already said it was an if, why are you taking it so seriously? Did you forget? I always carry that jade pendant with me. Who else could it be if not me who saved you?"
Hearing this, Jin Lili paused slightly.
He lowered his head, and his ink-black eyes met hers. Looking at the other person's eyes without a trace of guilt, he felt a sense of mockery in his heart.
Did she not feel guilty at all for lying to him? Or was she sure that she would never find out the truth?
He looked at the person inconspicuously, calmed down his emotions, and then said calmly, "Well, you are right. Who else could it be besides you?"
After saying that, Jin Lili's smile slowly faded. He lowered his head to treat all the wounds on her hands, and then let go.
Nan Yan smiled softly as if nothing had happened, then she suddenly thought of something and changed the subject abruptly.
"Oh, I suddenly remembered that the fish in the kitchen should have been cooked. I'll bring it over now. Please wait for me..."
Without waiting for his rebuttal, she turned around and walked quickly towards the small kitchen. Her steps seemed a little hurried, as if she was not used to the strange atmosphere in the house.
Only when the person behind her could no longer see her back did she slow down her pace.
Nan Yan curled her lips. She had seen many people who were hard on the outside but soft on the inside. This man's words were quite ruthless, but she didn't know if he really meant it in his heart.
Anyway, after some contact, she obviously discovered that the powerful Lord Jin did have some feelings for her, which was very interesting.
Nan Yan, thinking this, just happened to walk into the kitchen, poured the fish soup that was still cooking in the pot directly into the cup, then adjusted her expression, and then carried the food box back in the direction she came from.
As soon as she entered the room, she immediately and happily called Jin Li, who was sitting on a chair beside her, to come over. Then she took out a porcelain bowl and carefully poured him a bowl of fish soup. The fish soup was still steaming, and Nan Yan looked at him expectantly.
"Would you like to try it? It's been cooked for a long time, so it should taste... okay."
Nan Yan looked very expectant. She stretched her head to look at the fish soup in the bowl and sighed inwardly. She thought, after drinking this messy fish scale soup, she would have to go to the hospital, right?
"Although the style looks a bit bad, it should taste good. Jin Lili, please try it first."
"I heard that fish soup is good for the brain. Lord Jin must have a headache dealing with official duties every day. Can I pour you a bowl?"
Nan Yan said this and immediately served him a small bowl attentively.
Jin Lili looked at the bowl of what could be called fish soup that was passed to him, and his expression changed slightly. He didn't know whether the man in front of him was teasing him or was sincere?
As for Nan Yan, she was of course teasing him sincerely.
Jin Lili had a headache for a moment, and finally couldn't help but knocked her on the head, scolding her in a light voice,
"Stop making trouble. If I really drink this bowl of soup, I will be too weak to be replenished. I will probably kick my legs and go to heaven to see God when I go to sleep tonight! Forget it, quickly change your clothes. I will take you out for dinner."
In the end, Jin Li couldn't help but push the bowl of fish soup back. What a mess! Why should he ruin his stomach like this?
Nan Yan was initially disappointed when she saw that he refused to speak, but when she heard what he said next, her eyes lit up and she nodded in response.
Then she changed her clothes with the help of the maid.
Long before the two got engaged, Jin Lili asked the servants in the mansion to buy some clothes and accessories for Miss Li, which happened to be used today.
It was just past the You hour and the sky was gradually getting dark. The Yanyun City at night presented a different kind of magnificent scene.
The Le Dynasty had abolished the curfew system long ago, and Yanyun City was the imperial city, under the feet of the emperor, which made the city even more bustling and prosperous at night. Sometimes even the princesses and princes in the court could not help but dress up and come out to watch and play.
There are still many street vendors who have not yet closed their stalls. Some of them have just started to sell their wares while their stalls are still open. At night, they sell food and snacks, lanterns and decorations. The painted boats in the moat light up their lights in the dark, making the place much busier than during the day.
At night, countless people are bustling about on this street, accompanied by the sounds of laughter coming from the attics. This is the most prosperous scene.
Suddenly, a clear and pleasant sound came from the crowd.
"Jin Lili, hurry up, come here quickly. Look at this doll. It looks like this when it's not talking to you."
Nan Yan had just walked to the temple gate, and before she could even sigh, Jin Lili, who appeared out of nowhere, grabbed her wrist and scolded her, "Where have you been? Didn't I tell you to wait for me to find you if you can't find me? Did you listen to me? Don't you know there are a lot of kidnappers at night? If you don't pay attention, you'll be knocked unconscious and kidnapped. If you dare to run around again in the future, don't even think about me taking you out again!"
Jin Li flicked his sleeves. This time he was really angry. He was angry that she was running around everywhere, and he was even more angry that she didn't even bring a maid with her.
He was looking for her the whole night, and the more he looked, the more anxious he became. It turned out that this person was quite leisurely and strolled to the Yue Lao Temple at some point in time.
He still had a smile on his face, with a candied haws in his left hand and a piece of crispy cake in his right hand, eating them with great pleasure. He did not look anxious or worried at all, and had no idea that he was almost angry to death.
Nan Yan blinked twice, probably because she didn't expect him to be so angry. She immediately pulled his sleeves and coaxed him skillfully, "I'm sorry, I know I was wrong. I don't know why I couldn't see you when I turned around. Later, I thought there were so many fun things on this street, and I could look for you while eating and playing. I'm sorry, I will definitely follow you next time. Don't be angry, okay?"
She snorted twice as she spoke, poked his chest with her finger, and looked a little aggrieved and resentful, "You still blame me, I was so anxious when I couldn't find you, this candied haws doesn't taste good anymore, do you want to try a bite?"
Jin Lili was really mad at her. She didn't even enjoy the food. Did she think he was blind? He saw that she was clearly enjoying the food. She was so happy that she didn't want to leave.
