Chapter 138

Chapter 138

Yu Liuyun always thought that his wife acted on a whim yesterday.

What's past is past.

After all, the two had not seen each other for a long time, and it was normal for a wife to feel attached to her husband. Although he married her, he had never done certain things that a couple should do to her, simply because Yu Liuyun did not like her at all. If viewed from the perspective of a normal couple's relationship, he was indeed a little cold to her, so it was not so unbearable for her to come over occasionally.

Moreover, the two of them got along quite harmoniously yesterday, so Yu Liuyun didn't take this matter to heart.

Although she did kiss him secretly when he was least prepared, which did cause some ripples in his heart, he quickly ignored that slight change in emotion.

Now Yu Liuyun still doesn't have much feelings for his wife.

So when he came out of the practice room the next morning and saw his wife and the maid waiting in his study, his first reaction was not joy.

Instead, he frowned subconsciously, and even felt a little annoyed. Why did she come over again?

Is this person addicted?

What on earth did she want to do? Did she really want to stay with him for a long time and try to become a real couple with him?

Not to mention whether this is possible or not? Just saying that he doesn't like women like her is absolutely impossible, not to mention that he still has someone in his heart that he can't let go of... and her reckless approach will only make him feel very uncomfortable.

Yu Liuyun didn't know what to say for a moment. It was obvious that in the past, she would leave obediently whenever he gave her a hint, but now it was a little different. He didn't know if it was intentional or if she really didn't understand?

But every time she came to see him, she was so gentle and considerate, which made it impossible to refuse her kindness. After all, she was still his legitimate wife, wasn't she?

Nan Yan didn't care whether he could endure it or not. It didn't matter if he couldn't endure it. She just took this opportunity to take care of him. Now the title of his wife was still very useful.

And she, the leader's wife, was known to all the believers. As long as she didn't do anything detrimental to the Xuancang Sect, these people would take good care of her even for the sake of the former leader.

Because of this, Yu Liuyun has always been more respectful to her, a very cold kind of respect, which probably means just ignoring her and not seeing her, which saves a lot of trouble.

So early the next morning, Nan Yan brought a lot of food from the kitchen, packed them one by one in food boxes, and placed them carefully. After all, she didn't want to hit someone who smiled at her, and she didn't believe that Yu Liuyun could refuse her.

Yu Liuyun always gets up at the hour of Mao in the morning to practice martial arts. Although he has an extraordinary talent in martial arts, he puts in just as much effort as those mediocre people. He is both talented and hardworking. It is worthy of such a person that after the death of the previous leader, he was able to quickly suppress all the big and small demons and monsters in the Xuancang Sect with lightning speed, and then stand out from them and eventually become the leader as expected. This person does have such qualifications.

When Nan Yan arrived, Yu Liuyun was still in the inner room practicing his internal skills and had not come out. Nan Yan went into the room alone, carrying the food box. The maids were not allowed to enter the room from the outer door.

This man's study was somewhat different from the studies of the children of officials and aristocratic families that she had seen before. Although there were quite a few books, most of them were martial arts techniques from various schools, as well as some random books on military tactics. Spread out on the desk was a book on sword techniques that had been read countless times, and the pages seemed to be curled up.

Nan Yan walked over and looked around, and saw an exquisite small box made of sandalwood placed next to the bookshelf. She was a little curious, so she took the small box down.

When he opened it, he found that inside was a jade peach blossom hairpin carefully wrapped in a handkerchief. The jade was smooth and the workmanship was exquisite, but it was a pity that the hairpin had been broken into two pieces.

Nan Yan raised her eyebrows slightly, and understood in her heart that this was probably the engagement token that was stepped on and broken by the servants.

Seeing how carefully this person preserved it, I guess Yu Liuyun really loved his childhood fiancée. Even though it was broken into pieces, he still preserved it and refused to throw it away. It's a pity that such a beautiful hairpin has become like this.

Nan Yan asked the maid to bring a ball of red thread, then sat there and carefully tied up the broken part with the red thread in circles.

For some unknown reason, this man never sent the broken hairpin to be repaired. Perhaps he wanted to remind himself of the humiliation he had suffered and what the heroine had done to him?

When Yu Liuyun finished practicing the inner skills and came out of the inner room in the backyard, he saw his gentle wife sitting on his main seat with her back to him. He didn't know what she was doing. Maybe she was reading a book? But she didn't know martial arts, so how could she understand?

Yu Liuyun didn't think too much about it. The moment he saw Nan Yan, his brows wrinkled unconsciously, and he asked without hesitation, "What are you doing here?"

Nan Yan turned around subconsciously when she heard the sound. She was still holding the broken hairpin in her hand, with one end wrapped around a red thread and the other end wrapped tightly around the hairpin. It seemed that the hairpin, which was originally broken into two pieces, was really entangled by her.

Seeing the person behind her, Nan Yan showed him a gentle and happy smile without any defense, and then called softly, "Husband, you are back."

However, as soon as she finished speaking, Yu Liuyun's expression changed instantly. He looked up and saw the jade hairpin wrapped in a handkerchief in her hand. He almost subconsciously rushed over and snatched it away. He stared at her with a cold face and asked, "Who told you to touch my things casually? I didn't ask you to come over. What are you doing here?"

These words were obviously spoken in a very impolite and serious tone.

Even the maid outside was frightened when she heard the leader's voice suddenly became high and cold, and she trembled all over and didn't even dare to raise her head.

Nan Yan seemed to be frightened by her husband's reaction. She had never seen him so emotional before and was stunned for a moment, as if she didn't understand why he was so angry.

The pair of watery black eyes stared at him blankly for a long time before she came to her senses. Then she raised the red string in her hand, looked at the hairpin in his hand, and explained uncomfortably, "Husband, you misunderstood me."

Her eyes were moist. "I didn't damage your hairpin. It was already broken into two pieces when I saw it. And when I saw you carefully wrapping it in a handkerchief, I knew it must be something very precious to you, so I thought of wrapping it up with red thread, so that it might still be usable."

Nan Yan pursed her lips, which were a little moist, "I didn't touch your things casually, husband, please don't be angry."

After saying this, Nan Yan's thick eyelashes drooped unconsciously and she turned her face away slightly. Perhaps it was the first time that she was treated in this way by him. There was a hint of sadness on her face, which made her feel a little depressed.

After listening to her explanation, Yu Liuyun realized that he had misunderstood her. But at that moment, he subconsciously failed to control his emotions, so he shouted at her a few times. Now thinking about it, it was indeed not her fault.

Besides, the hairpin was already broken, and even if it got damaged again, it would just have a few more cracks on top of the previous ones. He also knew that he had overreacted this time.

So he calmed down and relaxed his demeanor. Then he walked over and said, "Sorry, it's none of your business. I was just too impulsive."

"This is the only thing my mother left me before she died. It was accidentally broken by someone before, so I became so sensitive about it and don't want anyone to touch it again."

This explanation can be regarded as maintaining the dignity of both parties.

Nan Yan lowered her head and thought, what kind of relic? Didn't she know the details? It was clearly a family heirloom left by your mother to your daughter-in-law. Not only did the heroine refuse to accept it, but she also let the servants break it mercilessly. I'm afraid this is the crux of the hero's sensitivity and rejection.

But even thinking this way, after hearing Yu Liuyun's apology and explanation, Nan Yan's face immediately showed a somewhat annoyed and unnatural expression, and then stepped forward to hold his wrist, looking at him with apologetic eyes, "I'm sorry, I didn't know that it was a relic left by your mother for you. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have messed with your things."

"It's nothing. Don't worry about these little things."

Yu Liuyun brushed her fingers away without leaving a trace, then turned around and carefully wrapped the jade hairpin in a handkerchief before putting it back into the brocade box.

After doing all this, he seemed to have just come to his senses. He then turned to look at her and asked, "By the way, why did you come to see me today? Is there something else you want to talk to me about?"

According to Nan Yan's inner thoughts, the meaning of this subtitle is probably: If you have nothing to do, you'd better not bother me again. I'm very busy, and even if I'm not busy, I don't really want to see you, so just be a good and silent wife and go back to where you came from.

Nan Yan smiled slightly after hearing this, as if she didn't understand the implication in his tone at all. She stepped forward and gently pulled his sleeve, then explained softly, "I'm here to bring you some food. I know that my husband has to get up early every day to practice martial arts, and often doesn't have time to eat. After practicing martial arts, he still has to deal with big and small things in the sect, which must be very hard."

"So I specially asked the small kitchen to study some new dishes. They are all breakfasts made for you according to the tastes of Qingzhou City. Do you like it if you try it?"

After hearing Nan Yan's explanation filled with warmth and admiration, Yu Liuyun could no longer express the blame and frustration that had been stuck in his heart.

He still understood the principle of not hitting someone who smiles at him, not to mention that Zhou Nanyue had done nothing wrong. She just loved and admired him as her husband wholeheartedly.

But even so, Yu Liuyun still felt a little uncomfortable. The reason for his discomfort was her recent changes. There was always a strange feeling that things were starting to get out of control.

This made Yu Liuyun frown slightly, and he said directly, "Just let the servants do these things. Since you are my wife, you should pay attention to your status. You don't need to deal with these laborious things at all."

Nan Yan naturally understood what he meant, but she didn't get angry after hearing this. Instead, she took the man's hand and pulled him to a seat outside. Then she turned around and ordered them to take out the breakfast snacks in the food boxes one by one.

As she took it back, she smiled and said, "But it is natural for a wife to take care of her husband. What's wrong? Don't you like me doing this for you?"

The food box was still warm, and the congee and side dishes that had just been taken out were still steaming. There were also snacks such as willow leaf steamed dumplings, pan-fried buns, glutinous rice cakes, and noodle soup that were common in Qingzhou City in the past. People felt familiar with them just by looking at them, and then they felt nostalgic.

The ancestral home of the Yu family is in Songzhou, but his mother is also from Qingzhou City, so his mother would often make these snacks for him when he was a child.

However, he seemed to have never eaten these things again after the fall of the Yu family. During the days of exile, it was already very good to be able to fill his stomach with a hot meal. After coming to the Liucang Sect, he was busy improving his strength and dealing with miscellaneous matters every day, and he had no desire for these food.

Now, after suddenly hearing what she said, and seeing that what was placed on the table was exactly the same as what his mother had made when she was a child, even though Yu Liuyun felt that this person was redundant, he couldn't help being moved at this moment, and his expression softened unconsciously.

"No, it's not that I don't like it, I'm just worried that you'll get tired. Have you forgotten what the doctor said? You're not in good health and you can't overwork, otherwise you'll get sick easily."

Nan Yan thought, of course this man really wants someone to do these things for him, but that person shouldn't be her. If the heroine prepared these foods for him so gently and said a few soft words to him, I'm afraid this man would have softened his heart long ago and would probably eat two more bowls of rice per meal.

Hearing this, Nan Yan's eyes flashed with a smile again. She also sat down beside him and replied softly, "It's okay. I just spent a little time to guide them to learn those new dishes. I didn't do anything too strenuous. My husband doesn't need to worry about my health."

As she spoke, she took a piece of fried crispy glutinous rice cake and put it in his bowl, looking at him expectantly and cautiously, "Try it and see how it tastes. Is it the same as what you ate in Qingzhou before? If you like it, I'll let them learn other things later, okay?"

Yu Liuyun had no way to refuse her. They were husband and wife, and it was normal for a couple to do such things.

Even though he didn't like her approaching him, he couldn't say it directly. What's more, it would seem abnormal if he kept rejecting her approach.

So Yu Liuyun simply stopped talking and began to eat quietly. The food tasted really good, very much like what his mother cooked for him when he was a child. Nan Yan served him food from time to time, and they ate the meal in an exceptionally quiet and harmonious manner.

After the two of them finished their meal, the maids cleaned the table carefully, brewed a new cup of strong tea and placed it on the table, and finally withdrew respectfully.

Originally, Yu Liuyun thought that the two of them had finished their meal and their conversation, and that it was time for the man in front of him to leave. After all, he would have to start practicing swordsmanship again soon.

As a result, when he turned to look at Nan Yan, she was also looking at him. Her eyes were as calm and gentle as usual, and the warmth in her eyes seemed to be overflowing.

He understood her feelings, but understanding is one thing and reason is another. That look still made him very unhappy.

In the past, whenever he showed such an impatient look, his wife would obediently leave even if she was reluctant to leave. But now, no one knows what is going on?

Yu Liuyun frowned unconsciously, with a hint of impatience between his brows. He was just wondering whether he should give her a reminder and let her leave directly.

Before he could even open his mouth, the man opposite him suddenly pointed at his collar and said, "Husband, here..."

Yu Liuyun was a little confused, he looked down, and didn't find anything wrong with him, so he asked again, "What's wrong? Is there something wrong?"

Nan Yan couldn't help laughing when she saw him like that. There was a hint of tenderness in her smile. Then she walked towards him and gently fiddled with the collar of his shirt. "My husband is so careless. Didn't you even notice that your clothes were torn?"

"You are a leader after all. If you go out wearing a robe with a thread cut, aren't you afraid that your subordinates will provoke you and say you are poor and mean?"

She poked his chest softly with her finger, then turned over the crack and pointed it out to him. Only then did Yu Liuyun react, but he still felt no emotion in his heart.

This was normal for him, as it was always the case for people who practiced martial arts. They would not apply force evenly between moves and would tear their clothes accidentally, so it was not a big deal.

He was just about to say that it was okay, don't worry about it, and if everything was fine you could go back.

As a result, his wife didn't give him a chance to speak.

She gently pressed his shoulders with her fingers, and as if she didn't notice his resistance, she reached out and took off his outer robe, turned around and took out a crescent-white robe from the cabinet and handed it to him, then said gently,

"Can I help my husband sew it? My father used to be like this. When he was fighting with others, his clothes would often be torn. Every time mother saw it, she would carefully sew up the torn clothes for him piece by piece."

Obviously, what she said reminded Lu Liuyun of the way his parents got along with each other. He raised his eyelids slightly and his gaze fell on his wife who was straightening his clothes in front of him.

Seeing her standing on tiptoe, her soft white fingers slowly raised above him, and then adjusted the cuffs on his collar and his hair, every movement was so delicate and gentle.

Yu Liuyun looked at her quietly for a moment. When he saw the admiration and trepidation in her eyes, he was silent for a long while. Then he said calmly, "Forget it. It's up to you. Just do whatever you want."

In the end, he couldn't give her what she wanted. In that case, accommodating her more in other places could be considered a form of compensation.

Nan Yan then held the robe in her arms, a sincere smile appeared in her eyes, and she tentatively said, "My husband is practicing sword in the yard, can I sit under the tree over there? I promise I won't disturb you."

Yu Liuyun subconsciously wanted to refuse, but seeing her asking again and again, he felt that it was a bit too much. He wondered if she was testing his bottom line little by little?

This made Yu Liuyun frown unconsciously, but when he lowered his head to meet those eyes full of tenderness, he thought about the breakfast she had just brought him, and that she would have to mend his robe for him later. He owed her so many things at once, and it was impossible to refuse at this moment.

Then he exhaled a breath of foul air, turned around and said coldly, "It's up to you, you can watch if you want, but remember to stay away, otherwise I will accidentally hurt you when practicing sword."

Hearing this, Nan Yan naturally nodded in agreement. She pursed her lips slightly and smiled softly at the person, still looking calm and gentle.

Yu Liuyun's gaze paused for a moment, and seeing this he ignored the man and directly picked up a sharp sword hanging on the wall, turned around and walked out.

Very good, things did not go as she expected and progressed smoothly. Well, she just didn't believe that warm water couldn't kill the frog.

The courtyard where Yu Liuyun lives now is the main courtyard built by successive leaders. Her father also lived in this courtyard in the past, but after her mother passed away, he refused to live there anymore and asked people to renovate the courtyard very well, keeping every blade of grass and every tree intact.

In the yard, right opposite the place where he practiced sword, there happened to be a bamboo and rattan rocking swing, which was used by his mother to rest in her spare time.

Nan Yan asked the maid to bring the small bamboo basket she used to do needlework and embroidery, and then sat on the bamboo swing not far away, facing the place where Yu Liuyun practiced sword.

She held the needle and thread in her hand, and tiptoed one foot on the stone block in front of her to maintain balance, while the other foot occasionally stepped on the tiptoes. She was wearing a pair of exquisite crescent-shaped white embroidered shoes.

The shoes were embellished with a few pearls, and the skirt was also moon white, a silk gauze skirt that covered from the knees to the toes.

The hem of her skirt danced in the wind, and her toes were lightly raised. As the wind blew around her, her whole body swayed gently along with the swing, as if she had swayed into people's hearts.

People who practice martial arts have pretty good eyesight. Even from such a distance, he could still see the soft curve at the corner of her mouth.

But she herself seemed to be unaware of it, staring intently at the robe in her hands, sewing every stitch carefully.

This made it impossible for Yu Liuyun to calm down.

He didn't know what was going on. Maybe it was because no one dared to watch him when he practiced sword in the past, but now there was suddenly someone else. Even though this person was his legally married wife, he felt a little irritated for no reason.

Maybe it wasn't irritability, but a certain feeling of uncontrollable chaos that made him very uncomfortable.

This kind of confusion was fully reflected in his swordsmanship at the moment. He had made several mistakes in his moves and even took several wrong steps. Even his breathing became a little unstable.

This also made Yu Liuyun even more irritated.

He turned around, sword energy waving, and as if to vent his anger, he raised the long sword and chopped hard at the crabapple tree beside him. At that moment, the flower petals flew and swirled along with the sword energy, all falling from the sky, splashing down and landing on her.

The pink and white weeping crabapple flowers slowly fell from the tree, swirling around and landing on her smooth black hair, her fair cheeks, and her plain and elegant skirt.

Nan Yan seemed to have just realized that flower petals were raining down on her head. She raised her eyes in surprise, her eyes were watery, and she saw that her husband had stopped moving at some point, holding a long sword in his hand, and was looking at her quietly.

She was a little stunned, and then smiled at him tenderly without any defense. This smile was as gentle as water, and her eyes seemed to reflect a clear spring, as if filled with endless affection.

"Husband..."

She called him husband, and his figure was the only thing reflected in her eyes. Such a gentle and beautiful woman belonged to him, completely and totally.

No matter how cold-hearted Yu Liuyun was, he couldn't help but feel dazed when he thought of this. He unconsciously tightened his grip on the sword.

Yu Liuyun took a deep breath, not knowing whether it was because the moment when the crabapple blossoms fell was so beautiful that he was a little distracted for a moment, or because the scene when the person under the tree smiled at him was so stunning that it was unforgettable.

Looking at his wife like this, Yu Liuyun didn't know why, but the irritation in his heart suddenly calmed down.

His breath became steady, and his expression became the same as before, but when you looked closely, you could see that his eyes were indeed much gentler than before.

In short, Yu Liuyun's heart did feel a little strange because of that person's constant approach.

From then on, Nan Yan would come to Yu Liuyun's yard every morning and evening to eat with him. They would sometimes chat together. When they talked about martial arts techniques, Yu Liuyun seemed quite interested and would explain to her some steps that were difficult for ordinary people to understand. Nan Yan would then hold her chin and listen carefully. Even though she didn't understand anything, she pretended to be very patient.

Sometimes Nan Yan would watch him practice swordplay. When his forehead was sweating from practicing, she would naturally take out a handkerchief from her arms and walk up to him to wipe the sweat off his cheeks.

The scent on the handkerchief was the same as her body, which made people calm down unconsciously.

After spending some time together, all the maids in the sect knew about the affection that the leader's wife had for the leader.

Because the leader did not refuse, all the maids and servants felt that the couple was extremely loving.

And Yu Liuyun also went from being repulsive and uncomfortable at the beginning to getting used to it later. The two of them had been living together for more than half a month, and Yu Liuyun was indeed not as distant and cold towards Nan Yan as he was at the beginning. Sometimes he might not even realize that he cared more about this quiet and considerate wife.

However, Yu Liuyun still did not give up on Lin Pianran. To him, that woman might have become an obsession.

He didn't know what kind of feelings he had towards her, did he hate her? Or did he care about her?

Maybe it was a bit of both. On the one hand, he hated her for breaking her promise and treating him so cruelly. On the other hand, he missed their past relationship.

He knew since he was fourteen that the bright and pretty girl would become his wife when she grew up, and he was full of curiosity about her from the first time she came to the Yu family.

Clearly, when she was at Yu's house, she would throw herself into his arms affectionately and coquettishly call him her fiancé brother. Clearly, she had promised to be his wife and would never leave him for the rest of her life. But the next moment, she abandoned him without hesitation and threw herself into the arms of another man, spitting and insulting him like a beggar.

How could Yu Liuyun be willing to accept this?

How could he let her go?

Didn't she refuse to bow her head? Then he would lock her up until she died, until the day she humbly knelt on the ground begging for mercy and admitting her fault, he would make her regret it.

And during the time that Lin Pianran was imprisoned, she indeed did not seek death again, because she found out that her fiancé, who used to like her, care about her, and would not let her get hurt, actually strangled her neck mercilessly, and he really wanted to kill her?

This also made Lin Pianran suddenly wake up. No, this cannot go on any longer. The tricks she used before can no longer be used.

She had to leave this damn place as soon as possible, otherwise she might really be killed by that stinky beggar.

Thinking of this, Lin Pianran couldn't help feeling regretful and sad. The thing she regretted most in her life was sparing his life.

I originally thought that such a person could only be a beggar for the rest of his life, but I never thought that he would have a chance to turn his life around.

But even if he turned over, it could not cover up the fact that he was a devil. In order to survive, he actually joined the hostile force such as Xuancang Sect and lived without dignity.

Lin Pianran would never compromise out of fear.

She was the high and mighty eldest daughter of the Lin family. She had her own dignity and pride. At worst, he would just kill her with a knife. Anyway, she would never kowtow to a beggar and admit her mistakes in her life. That would be more painful than taking her life.

Her marriage was broken off, but so what?

With his status, does he really want her to suffer with him for the rest of her life?

If he really loved her, he should have more self-awareness and just find a woman in the countryside to marry and have children, and live his life to the end. It would be best if he never appeared in front of her again in his life. This would be the best result for both of them.

But he was so ignorant that he came to the Lin Mansion with that broken hairpin to ask her to marry him. What could she do? Would she really marry him? How could this be possible? How could she accept it?

Besides, the engagement was just a joke made when they were young. She used to like that high-spirited and caring little brother very much, but he has changed. He himself has changed, so shouldn't he allow her to change as well?

So it was natural for him to let those servants kick him out. Is there anything wrong with this result?

If there was any mistake, it was he who made it first. He was ignorant of right and wrong, had wild ideas, and wanted to tie her down for the rest of her life.

Besides, she already has someone she really likes. Xiu Yan is her fiancé, and that young man named Ruyu from a prominent family is the one she really likes.

But why didn’t Xiu Yan come to save her?

Thinking of this, Lin Pianran felt a little anxious and worried, especially when looking at this dark underground palace without sunlight. She also felt a little afraid in her heart. What if that bastard really imprisoned her for the rest of her life?

When she thought about the result, she suddenly felt that life was worse than death. She really wanted to go out and leave this damn place.

Lin Pianran clenched her fingers and suddenly thought of another outcome. Didn't Yu Liuyun want her to admit her mistake anyway?

So if she just pretended to apologize to him and admitted her mistake, would he be merciful and let her go?

Thinking about it this way, Lin Pianran felt that it was very likely. He wanted her to admit her mistake, so she should just apologize. Anyway, he didn't know whether she was sincere or not. As long as she really apologized, what reason did he have to imprison himself?

Thinking of this, Lin Pianran hurriedly shouted outside again, shouting until the guard's ears hurt. Finally, he had to report the matter.

So, Yu Liuyun, who had not left the underground palace for almost half a month, suddenly received a message from Lin Pianran the next morning. The woman said she wanted to see him.

When hearing the news, Yu Liuyun suddenly had an indescribable complex feeling in his heart. It was not joy or excitement, but a bit weird.

Because he found that he had been too close to Nan Yan during this period of time, and he had not visited the woman imprisoned in the underground palace for a long time.

Yu Liuyun thought to himself, maybe it was because he was too busy recently that he forgot, or maybe it was because every meeting was not pleasant, which made him feel a little resistant for a while, so he subconsciously didn't want to see her.

In short, when receiving this news, Yu Liuyun would naturally not ignore it. He went directly to the underground palace. After meeting the man, as expected, after being locked up for ten days or half a month, this person's arrogance had indeed disappeared for the most part.

After the two talked,

Yu Liuyun quickly understood what she meant, and the coldness in his eyes instantly intensified. Did this woman really think that he was stupid and couldn't see the hypocrisy in her eyes?

Do you really think he will believe the nonsense she says?

As expected, this meeting ended in a bad mood again. From the very beginning, Yu Liuyun mocked and ruthlessly exposed her false words of begging for forgiveness and admitting mistakes.

Lin Pianran tried to argue at first, but after saying nice things for a long time, she finally realized that the person standing in front of her still looked indifferent.

Lin Pianran finally couldn't help it and started cursing again, calling him a lunatic and a bastard, and that he would get his comeuppance sooner or later. No one in this world would care about him or like him, and that he would never get true love from his sweetheart in his entire life.

"Yu Liuyun, what are you going to do? Even if I bullied you in the past, you have locked me up for so long now. Shouldn't the grudge between us be offset?"

Yu Liuyun sneered, "Offset? You want to offset the grudge between us? Well, then I will remind you, don't forget your identity. Back then, your Lin family begged our Yu family to marry you. Now you must honestly fulfill your promise to me."

Sure enough, Lin Pianran was stunned when she heard this, and started crying and shouting again, slapping the iron frame and scolding him, calling him an idiot and talking nonsense, and she would never agree to it in her life!

She's already said that she doesn't like him anymore, so why is she still clinging to the past engagement?

Hearing those merciless insults, Yu Liuyun's eyes gradually became cold and dark. He tried hard to suppress the anger in his heart. Finally, he sneered and turned away.

But after being scolded by that stupid woman once again, Yu Liuyun was still furious.

In the end, he simply went straight to those subordinates in the church who had always been restless and gave them a severe scolding, and only then did he vent out all the anger in his heart.

However, when he returned to the yard, he found that his wife, who would usually wait for him in the house, was not there today.

Only a maid came over with a food box. When she saw him, she lowered her head and respectfully laid the food out.

Yu Liuyun was confused and felt a little strange, so he subconsciously asked, "Where is the Madam? Why didn't she come today?"

The maid said hesitantly, "Madam said she was busy and couldn't come today. She also asked the master to eat on time."

Yu Liuyun felt a little annoyed but didn't say anything. If she didn't come, then she didn't come. In the past, he felt more comfortable alone when she didn't come. He didn't know when he developed this habit.

Yu Liuyun practiced swordsmanship in the yard for the whole morning. The more he practiced, the more he felt a tightness and discomfort in his chest. He didn't know if it was because he was very angry with that crazy woman in the morning, but he felt a little out of shape the whole day.

It was not until dinner time that the maid came over with the food box. Yu Liuyun did not move, but subconsciously glanced behind her. When he saw no one, his brows wrinkled unconsciously.

After the maid had laid out the food, Yu Liuyun looked at the various dishes and couldn't help but asked, "Where's Madam? Isn't she coming for dinner? What on earth made you so busy today that you haven't finished your work all day yet?"

The maid was stunned for a moment, then lowered her head obediently, hesitating for a long time but unable to explain anything.

Seeing her like this, Yu Liuyun couldn't suppress the anger that had accumulated in his heart for a day. He glanced at the servant standing beside him coldly and said, "Speak, why are you lowering your head? I'm not going to kill you."

The maid was so frightened by these words that her face turned pale. She then quickly confessed, "Master, please spare my life. My husband is sick. She has been feeling unwell since this morning and has been lying in bed resting. That's why she didn't come today..."

Upon hearing this, Yu Liuyun's expression changed instantly.

The chopsticks in his hand were broken accidentally.
