Chapter 5
The Korean restaurant was quite crowded at night. Shen Siyu had already taken a seat and was looking down at her phone. When she saw Ling Peng, she immediately smiled and waved.
While waiting for the food, Ling Peng's cell phone rang. He picked up the call and heard the noisy sounds in the dormitory.
Wang Hai: "Brother Peng! I don't mean to interrupt your date, but that method you just described is amazing! I've solved a few more! I have to praise you!"
Chen Xiang: "Brother Hai's treat! Plenty of spicy noodles!"
Li Siwen: "Okay."
Ling Peng's mouth corners curled up unconsciously, and he quickly replied, "Awesome," and hung up the phone.
"What's wrong? Why are you so happy?" Shen Siyu asked curiously.
"Nothing, roommate, I'm just doing my homework." Ling Peng turned off the phone screen.
Shen Siyu smiled and naturally brought the topic back to the fashion news she had just read: "Look at this new autumn and winter style. Isn't this bag beautiful? I think it matches the coat you wore last time."
Ling Peng had no idea what bags were, so he could only nod: "Yeah, it's okay."
She didn't seem to really expect him to express any opinions, and soon she began to talk enthusiastically about the party their school was going to hold next week. She was one of the hosts and was choosing a dress.
After dinner, Chen Siyu suggested a walk by the lake. The campus was quiet on the autumn night, the streetlights casting a golden glow on the lake. She held his arm, humming a popular tune, occasionally pointing to a couple cuddling in the distance and whispering a few words.
Ling Peng walked quietly. He could smell the faint fragrance of the girl's hair and feel the gazes of those around him—Chen Siyu was the center of attention wherever she went. He matched her pace, listened to her words, and occasionally responded.
Walking to the shadow of the bushes below the girls' dormitory, Shen Siyu stopped and helped him straighten his collar, which was not actually messy. Her eyes were gentle: "Go upstairs and rest early, don't stay up late drawing again."
"Yeah, you too." Ling Peng nodded, his eyes falling on her face which was coated with a soft light from the street lamp.
Around them, people were returning to the dorms, the sounds of laughter and goodbyes echoing. Shen Siyu didn't let go of his hand immediately. Her fingers rested lightly on his collar, her eyes gazing at him with a sweet anticipation. She stood slightly on tiptoe, her voice soft and gentle, like a feather scratching the tip of her heart: "So... what about the goodnight kiss?"
Ling Peng looked at her bright face so close to him, her smiling eyes gazing at him, and something in his heart moved. He no longer hesitated, lowered his head, and accurately captured those two soft red lips.
This kiss was deeper and more passionate than any before. He put his arm around her waist and could feel her startle slightly before she leaned gently towards him. A sweet, fruity scent lingered between her lips, perhaps from the drink she'd just had. He could smell the pleasant aroma of her hair and feel the subtle shiver of her gentle response. The clamor of the surroundings seemed to fade away, leaving only the warmth of their breath and their racing hearts.
After a moment, he finally let her go. Shen Siyu's cheeks flushed, her eyes flickering with a hint of shyness and a touch of joy. She gently pounded his chest, her voice tinged with resentment yet more intimate: "Hate... so many people." But the upturned corners of her mouth betrayed her good mood.
"What are you afraid of?" Ling Peng also smiled, his fingers caressing the soft fabric around her waist. A sense of satisfaction that comes from possessing beautiful things naturally arose. "Come on up, I'll text you when I get back."
"I know! Good night!" Shen Siyu waved, turned around and walked into the dormitory building with light steps, her back showing joy.
Ling Peng stood there, watching her go up the stairs until she was out of sight, then turned and walked towards the boys' dormitory. The softness and sweetness of her lips still lingered, causing the corners of his mouth to curl upward unconsciously.
Back in Dormitory 307, the noise was still there. Wang Hai was arguing with Chen Xiang about game strategies, while Li Siwen was reading with headphones on. Seeing him come back, Wang Hai immediately called out, "Old Four, are you back from your date with your senior? How was the Korean food? Was it good?"
"Not bad." Ling Peng hung up his coat.
"That's all right? Stop being so cocky." Chen Xiang teased, "Senior Siyu is the dream girl of so many boys in our building."
Ling Peng smiled but didn't respond. He sat back at his desk, turned on the lamp and computer screen, and the complex parts diagram came to life again. He put on headphones to block out the noise behind him, picked up a drawing pen, and his expression quickly became focused.
The moonlight outside the window was just right. His college life was like the blueprint before him, with clear lines and distinct sections: studies, basketball, brotherhood, romance… Every part was filled to the brim, looking standard and excellent.
