Chapter 186 Lantern Festival (Part 1)

Since their last card game, the princess had missed Li Xingyun even more, but she couldn't show it. She was depressed all day, losing her appetite and unable to eat or drink. Tian Yu couldn't bear to see her like this, so she told the princess about the conversation between the Tang siblings and Li Xingyun that day. The princess was relieved and agreed to meet him on the Lantern Festival to watch the lanterns together. Li Xingyun naturally refused, but he couldn't resist Tian Yu's constant nagging. On the night of the Lantern Festival, he had no choice but to go out with them. When they arrived on the streets of the capital, Tian Yu specially rented a small boat and tricked the two of them onto it. Tian Yu kicked the boat away and ran off with Tang Yuan and Zhao Moyan. The princess hadn't even gotten her footing when she fell forward and landed on Li Xingyun's lap. The princess was very flustered and quickly got up and apologized. Li Xingyun stepped back without saying anything, but Xiao Wu, who was anxiously watching from the shore, shouted first: "Let go of my young master! Young master, wait for me, I'm coming to save you!"

“My princess didn’t eat your young master, why are you so anxious? Our princess is the one who suffered a loss!” said Xiao Cui, the princess’s personal maid.

"You! Humph! Young master, you wait, I'll find a way to get you ashore right now." Xiao Wu was so anxious on the shore that he kept stamping his feet as he watched the small boat drift further and further away.

"Alright, that's all for you. Go wait on the other side of the river. I've already told the boatman we'll dock when we get there," Tian Yu said.

"You! It's all your fault! If anything happens to my young master, I will definitely tell the master and madam."

"I always thought Green Willow was stupid enough, but now it seems you're no better." Tian Yu finished speaking and watched the small boat slowly drift away. Li Xingyun only glanced at Tian Yu, who waved frantically and shouted, "Brother! Cheer up!"

Li Xingyun glanced at the princess standing to the side, then at Tian Yu, and finally understood!

“Madam, how am I stupid? Don’t you always praise me for being clever and quick-witted?” Green Willow said to everyone, unconvinced.

"Green Willow, let's not disturb Madam and the Marquis. Let's go take a look over there," Qiuju said sensibly.

"No, I still need to serve the young master and his wife."

"You're so stupid, I don't believe you! Let's go! With the Marquis here, the Madam doesn't need you to serve her." Qiuju said, pulling Lvliu away.

The troublemakers finally left, leaving Xuan Yu and Tang Yuan to look around. Tang Yuan said, "Mommy, let's go take a look over there."

"Okay! Don't go too far, be careful!"

Xuan Yu nodded to Zhao Moyan in agreement, and then went to the street to see the lanterns with Tang Yuan. Tian Yu stood on the bridge watching them leave, waving happily at Tang Yuan and saying, "Look how happy they are!"

“Yes! Xuan Yu is rarely like this. He has changed a lot since he met you all,” Zhao Moyan said, standing by Tian Yu’s side the whole time.

"People always change!"

"And what about you? Will you change too?"

“Me? Of course I can change too,” Tian Yu said, pointing to herself with a smile.

"How will it change?"

"Hmm? How should I put it? As I experience more things, my views gradually change, or perhaps they will change over time! Why are you asking this?"

"Nothing much? I just wanted to know when you plan to move back to the Marquis's residence."

"I haven't decided yet. My promise to the princess has expired, but it hasn't expired yet, so I'll wait a little longer!"

“Okay! I’ll wait for you no matter how long it takes,” Zhao Moyan said earnestly.

Tian Yu hesitated, somewhat touched, and asked, "What would you do if I said I'm not the person you think I am?"

“You are you, Tangyuan’s mother, my wife! Who else could you be?” Zhao Moyan said.

Tian Yu whispered, "I'm not your Xiao Tian," but fireworks burst in the sky, drowning out her voice. Zhao Moyan seemed not to hear her and leaned closer to Tian Yu, asking in her ear, "What did you say?"

Tian Yu lost her courage and shook her head. The two looked up together to admire the fireworks, and then they walked hand in hand to the bustling street. This was the first time Tian Yu had come here to stroll through the night market at night. She dragged Zhao Moyan here and there, and Zhao Moyan accompanied her affectionately, thinking that it didn't matter who she was.

On the other small boat, the princess stood still. Li Xingyun said, "Does the princess intend to stand there forever?"

"Oh! Me!? I'm fine, I can just stand."

Don't you feel cold?

"It's not cold! It's not cold!" The princess sneezed as soon as she finished speaking, but still obediently went into the cabin. The cabin wasn't big, but it was just right for two people. The two sat facing each other like this. In order to ease the tense atmosphere, or rather, she was probably the only one who felt tense, the princess poured a cup of hot tea prepared on the small table next to her and handed it to Li Xingyun, saying, "Brother Xingyun, would you like some tea?"

"No need! You drink it!"

The princess's hand, which had been raised for a while, stiffened for a moment. She withdrew it with a look of disappointment. Before she could put it down properly, Li Xingyun impatiently reached out and took it back. He drank the tea in one gulp and returned the cup to the princess. The princess didn't react for a moment. Li Xingyun gestured to her with his eyes, and she quickly took the teacup and put it down properly.

“If the princess is bored, I will have the boatman dock.”

"Not boring! Not boring!"

"Was today's event something the princess and Tian Yu discussed together?"

"Yes or no!"

"Is it or not?"

"We had planned to come out together, but I didn't know she had rented a boat. I only found out when we arrived," the princess explained, wringing her handkerchief.

“But don’t blame Tian Yu, she did it for me.” She immediately added after saying that.

As the princess spoke, she secretly glanced at Li Xingyun's expression. Seeing that he had just frowned, she immediately explained, "If you don't like it, I'll have the boatman stop the boat and take you back."

"Never mind!" Li Xingyun sighed, and the princess cheered up again upon hearing this.
