The onlookers were curious, wondering if this was a martial arts exchange, but since Mr. Wen had said so, no one dared to object. Even when the two were exhausted and collapsed on the ground, their eyes still locked on each other, they continued their fierce fight. The spectators had gradually left. Pei Yuling walked up to them angrily and said, "Have you two gone mad for a woman?"
She had only briefly met her in the main hall today. When she bowed to her, Tian Yu simply bowed in return without looking at her. At that time, she thought this woman was quite ordinary, not as amazing as the legends suggested, and so timid that she didn't even dare to look at people. But when she saw the two of them, she wondered if something was wrong. If what she saw was really as she thought, did these two people have a problem with their judgment, especially Zhao Moyan? She had taken the initiative to show him affection, but he had never been moved. It seemed that she would have to have a good meeting with Tian Yu when she had the chance.
Zhao Moyan glanced at Pei Yuling, smiled and said, "She's the one you should care about. Tian Yu, you have me!" After saying that, he stood up, wiped the bloodstains from the corner of his mouth and left.
"Don't forget you haven't remarried yet! Also, there's something you might be interested in, and it's already been sent to your residence!" Chen Chong said, lying motionless on the ground.
Upon hearing their conversation, Pei Yuling looked at Chen Chong. Chen Chong looked away, stood up, dusted himself off, and walked past Pei Yuling. Pei Yuling turned to watch his departing figure, and slowly lowered her outstretched hand.
Upon hearing Zhao Moyan's voice, Tian Yu, who had been staring blankly at the bronze mirror, hurriedly got up and blew out the candle. Zhao Moyan saw the candle suddenly go out and lowered his outstretched hand. Qiu Ju said, "My lord, you are injured."
Zhao Moyan waved his hand, and Qiuju stopped asking questions.
"Madam?!" Zhao Moyan said, but didn't know how to ask.
“My lord, ever since the lady returned, she has kept herself locked in her room and won’t let us in to serve her,” said Green Willow.
"Alright, you can go now if there's nothing else."
The two hesitated whether to leave, but seeing Zhao Moyan's unpleasant expression, they left anyway.
"Tian Yu! I know you're not asleep, can I come in?"
"No! Don't come in! I don't want to see you." Tian Yu blew out the candle, squatted down, hugged herself, and cried.
Hearing her voice from outside the door, Zhao Moyan was very worried, but he still didn't push the door open to go in. He just said, "I'll be right outside. Call me if you need anything."
Tian Yu didn't want him to act this way. Why treat her like this if he didn't truly love her? Just for her talent and tangyuan (sweet rice balls)? The more Tian Yu thought about it, the more distressed she became, and she cried bitterly. In the dark night, Tian Yu cried heartbrokenly in the room. Zhao Moyan, standing outside the door, felt lost and didn't know how to comfort her. He remembered the last time he saw Tian Yu cry was when they encountered danger outside the city. She cried so bitterly then, the first time a woman cried and told him how much it hurt. His heart melted then; nothing else mattered as long as she was safe and healthy—power and status were so insignificant. Now, hearing her cry so bitterly again, Zhao Moyan hated himself for not protecting her. When he returned, he heard that Li Weiwei and the others had bullied her; he would help her get revenge.
Zhao Moyan stood outside the door all night. As dawn approached, Tian Yu had already fallen asleep from exhaustion, her cheeks still wet with tears as she lay by the bedside. Zhao Moyan called out to her a few times to make sure she was asleep before pushing the door open. Seeing the sleeping Tian Yu, he picked her up, put her on the bed, covered her with a blanket, wiped away her tears, and then quietly left.
