Tian Yu and Pei Yuling saw Mr. Wen and Tangyuan together in the courtyard. Tangyuan saw Tian Yu and happily shouted, "Mother! Mother!"
"Mr. Wen, Tangyuan, what are you doing here? Where did Mr. Fang go?"
"Mr. Fang had to leave early and said he would come again tomorrow."
"Mother, who is this old man? Why did he give me this?" Tangyuan picked up the jade pendant around her neck and showed it to Tianyu.
Upon seeing that it was a piece of pure white mutton fat jade, Tian Yu quickly took it off Tang Yuan's neck and handed it to Wen Liang, saying, "Mr. Wen, we cannot accept such a valuable item. Please take it back."
"Sir, what is this?" Pei Yuling looked at the jade pendant in surprise and was speechless.
“Since the item has already been sent out, why bring it back?” Wen Liang refused to take it and returned it.
"Tian Yu, please accept this. It's a token of our master's goodwill," Pei Yuling said with a smile.
"This!? I wonder what Mr. Wen means?"
"You don't know this?! Our master wants to take him as his disciple. Everyone knows that Mr. Wen only keeps this jade pendant for his last disciple."
"This!? We absolutely cannot accept it."
"Mother, does he mean he wants to be my husband?" Tangyuan asked.
"What!? You don't want to?" Wen Liang asked Tang Yuan with a smile.
“I’m willing! But then you’ll have to stay with us,” Tangyuan said.
Why aren't you coming with me?
"I won't go with you. I will never leave my mother."
"Mr. Wen, you've seen for yourself that my son is ignorant and doesn't know any better. Please take it back!"
"Ha! Ha! Ha! It's alright, I'll just wait. You'll come with me sooner or later."
Zhao Moyan knew about this but did not object, only saying that he had no problem with it as long as Tian Yu and Tangyuan were willing. Tangyuan was overjoyed to see Chen Chong, and even Maorong was very happy, licking and sniffing Chen Chong.
After everyone sat down, the dishes began to be served. Chen Chong looked at the table full of food and said happily, "I haven't eaten such delicious food in a long time. Just by smelling it, I know it must be very tasty."
That was the first time Pei Yuling realized that Chen Chong had such a large appetite, and Zhao Moyan could eat so much too. They practically finished all the dishes on the table. The only two left were dishes that Pei Yuling had made under Tian Yu's guidance, but no one touched them. The two of them ate bowl after bowl as if they were sulking, until the kitchen announced that there was no more food.
As they were leaving, Wen Liang was still trying to coax Tang Yuan to come with him, but Tang Yuan insisted that she wouldn't go no matter how good the offer was. Chen Chong looked at Tian Yu as if he wanted to say something, but then swallowed his words. He gave Tian Yu a deep look before getting into the car and leaving. Pei Yuling, on the other hand, gave Tian Yu a big hug, which shocked everyone else present. Tian Yu, however, didn't seem to mind and warmly returned the hug.
As soon as they left, Tian Yu put away her smile and took Tang Yuan back to the courtyard. Zhao Moyan followed behind without saying a word or moving. Because Tang Yuan was there, Tian Yu suppressed her anger and turned her back to him. Zhao Moyan was also in no hurry to sit down with Tang Yuan to read and check his homework.
"Father, I've been wanting to ask you, did you fight with Uncle Chen?"
"No! I bumped into it by accident," Zhao Moyan said, touching the wound on the corner of his mouth.
"Uncle Chen said the same thing. What a coincidence that you two are injured in the same place."
Hearing their conversation, Tian Yu became even angrier. They were such grown men, yet they were still fighting. Angrily, she put down her teacup and went to the yard to dig up the soil, banging it against the ground as if it were Zhao Moyan.
“If you keep hitting it, you’ll knock all the soil away,” Zhao Moyan said, standing behind her.
Tian Yu didn't want to see him, so she squatted there and turned around to continue. Zhao Moyan smiled and simply squatted down with her, knocking down clods of dirt. When Tian Yu saw him approaching, she would move to a different spot, but Zhao Moyan wouldn't give up and would continue following. Tian Yu would turn around again, and Zhao Moyan would follow again. They squatted down all over this patch of ground in the courtyard. A passing servant chuckled and said, "What are the Marquis and his wife doing?"
"Can't you see that the Marquis is just trying to coax his wife?"
"What exactly do you want?" Tian Yu angrily threw down the shovel and stormed back into the house.
Zhao Moyan rubbed his nose, thinking to himself, "He's usually never angry, so why is he angry now? How can I coax him? Who can help him?" He sighed, threw down the shovel, and strode after Tian Yu.
Seeing that he had followed her again, Tian Yu went back inside and, finding Tang Yuan not there, quickly closed the door. Zhao Moyan, quick as a flash, reached his hand inside, and as expected, his hand got caught. Normally, he never complained of pain, but suddenly cried out, "It hurts! It hurts so much! My hand hurts so much!"
Tian Yu couldn't bear it, but Zhao Moyan wouldn't let go of the door. Frustrated, Tian Yu slammed the door open and said angrily, "I already told you I don't want to see you, don't follow me!"
Zhao Moyan shook his hand, came in, closed the door again, stood behind Tian Yu, reached out and hugged Tian Yu, saying, "Did you hear my conversation with Li Linfeng and Prince Wu that night at the banquet?"
Tian Yu panicked for a moment, unsure whether he had found out or guessed. Tian Yu was also unaware that Zhao Moyan, in order to find out why she was angry, had questioned all the guards from the previous night, only to learn that Tian Yu had visited the side hall.
“I don’t know what you heard, but I want to tell you that my feelings for you are genuine. It’s not because you are Mr. Tian, nor because you are Tangyuan’s mother, but simply because you are Tian Yu, the Tian Yu I know. No matter what others say, in my heart you are you. As for what you said about you not being Xiao Tian, although I was somewhat surprised, I had some idea of what was going on, but I didn’t expect it to be like this. I’m very sorry for Xiao Tian’s death, but I had no choice at the time. My own future was uncertain, so how could I delay her?”
"But you ultimately betrayed her. Now, for the sake of revenge, won't you betray me again?!"
