Zhao Sibao had just entered and hadn't even had a chance to ask a question when Zhao Moyan's voice came from outside requesting an audience.
The Emperor waved his hand, and the nearby eunuch immediately understood and went to relay the message. Zhao Moyan came in and saw Tian Yu, who was soaking wet. He took off his coat and put it on Tian Yu, gave her a reassuring look, and then knelt down to pay his respects to the Emperor.
"You've come at the right time. Someone has reported that Tian Yu and the Crown Prince of Chen have a secret affair. Is that true?" the Emperor asked.
"Absolutely not! Tian Yu has been raising her child alone all her life. How could she possibly know the Crown Prince of Chen? Your Majesty, please investigate thoroughly!"
"In that case, do you know this person, Tian Yu?" the Emperor asked.
Tian Yu looked at Zhao Sibao and said, "I know him, he's Zhao Sibao from Lao Zhao Village."
"Is that Zhao Sibao the Tian Yu you know?"
Zhao Sibao knelt on the ground, trembling, and said, "Yes! She is Xiaotian, the mother of Tangyuan from Lao Zhao Village. Oh! No! Her name is Tianyu now."
"What's the meaning?"
"Don't be afraid, Zhao Sibao. Tell him everything you know. The Emperor won't blame you," Li Linfeng reassured him.
"Yes! This is what happened. Xiao Tian was the wife that the Marquis of Zhenbei married, but not long after, the Marquis of Zhenbei went to the battlefield. Xiao Tian was left with only Tangyuan, and life was incredibly hard for her. One day in early spring, she fell into the river. Everyone thought she was dead, but the next day she was perfectly fine, and she had completely changed. Before, Xiao Tian was illiterate and dull, never interacting with others, but she changed after she woke up from the fall into the river..."
Zhao Sibao embellished the story of what Tian Yu had done in Lao Zhao Village, making Tian Yu roll her eyes. Was she really that powerful? Was she really that omnipotent?
After Zhao Sibao finished speaking, Li Linfeng and several other officials offered their opinions one after another:
"Your Majesty, this Tian Yu is not the Marquis's first wife! She is very likely a spy sent by the Chen Kingdom. Marquis, you must not be deceived."
"Yes! Hearing this, it's quite possible that Tian Yu's identity is highly suspicious. Your Majesty, please investigate thoroughly!"
“Tian Yu’s identity is indeed suspicious, but how could our Marquis not have noticed anything?”
"Are you here to tell stories?" Prince Wu asked the group of ministers, then clasped his hands and said to the Emperor, "Father! Your subject feels that there is something fishy about this matter. I beg Your Majesty to investigate thoroughly and give Mr. Tian and Marquis Zhenbei justice."
“Your Majesty, Tian Yu is indeed my wife, and I swear on my life that I am true to this,” Zhao Moyan said.
The Emperor, expressionless, took a sip of tea and said calmly, "Tian Yu, do you have anything else to explain?"
"No!"
"So what they said is true?" the Emperor asked.
"How can rumors be considered true or false?"
"So you admit it."
"I admit it! But there are a few things I don't admit, and I want to ask them about them."
"What is it? Ask away!" the Emperor said, waving his hand.
Tian Yu stood up, turned around, took off her clothes and handed them to Zhao Moyan, then looked at Zhao Sibao and said with a smile, "Sibao, are you itching for a beating? You dare to lie in front of the Emperor, impressive! How come you lost money gambling again? Still no money to go to the brothel? They were going to give you extra silver, but you've made me sound so amazing. Am I a god? Or a monster?! Why don't you say I can turn soil into delicacies and stones into gold!"
“Everyone in Lao Zhao Village knows that things that nobody would normally eat can become delicacies when you get them. And you were so poor before, but you built a house and bought a lot of nice furniture in less than six months. Where did you get so much money? Everyone can see that!” Zhao Sibao said, shrinking back.
"I can cook and earn money to support my family, why do you have to interfere? You can't even take care of your own wife and children, and you still have the nerve to come to the capital. It's because there are too many scumbags like you that we women are forced to show our faces in public. What were you doing when I fell into the river and was about to die? Standing by and watching! Watching the show! I survived a great ordeal and came to my senses, and I'm working hard to improve myself. How is that wrong? Why don't you just say I'm a monster or a fox spirit, or you should just say I'm a reincarnated deity, wouldn't that be better!" After Tian Yu finished speaking, she stepped forward and started punching and kicking Zhao Sibao. If Zhao Moyan hadn't pulled him back and several ministers hadn't spoken up to stop him, who knows how long the beating would have gone on. Zhao Sibao didn't dare to fight back and lay on the ground groaning.
"Your Majesty, please forgive me! I lost control for a moment. You don't know that Zhao Sibao's father died in battle, leaving him as the only son in the family. He was spoiled rotten by his mother, and poor wife and children. He's lazy, good-for-nothing, and a scoundrel who harasses respectable women. He's always stealing chickens and dogs. He's no good at all! Stop crying! You still have the nerve to cry! I've already shown mercy for your mother and wife's sake." Tian Yu shouted at Zhao Sibao again.
Everyone else was startled, but the Emperor became interested and waited to see how Tian Yu would continue. After Tian Yu finished shouting, she continued, "You're not a decent person anymore, you've completely disgraced Old Zhao Village. Do you think your mother and the others know you've come to the capital?"
"I know! I know!" Zhao Sibao nodded frantically, terrified. Tian Yu leaned close to Zhao Sibao and whispered in his ear, "If you want to live, shut your mouth!"
Zhao Sibao was completely stunned and dared not speak. Tian Yu stood up, looked at everyone, and continued, "Your Majesty! Even if I am wrong, please do not blame the people of Lao Zhao Village. They are all good citizens of Wu Kingdom. The young men have all joined the army, leaving only the elderly, women, and children. Please do not make things difficult for them, and please ask the ministers to let them go. If you have any problems, come at me. Do not harm others. If Your Majesty's people are harmed, burning my house is fine, but do not burn other people's houses. This has nothing to do with them!"
"Burn down the house!?" the Emperor asked in surprise.
