The Crown Prince angrily pushed Tian Yu away, wiped his hands, and left the room. After the palace gates closed again, Tian Yu continued eating her noodles, but tears streamed down her face. She thought the Crown Prince must be lying to her; Li Xingyun had told her that Zhao Moyan was fine that day. Yes, the Crown Prince must have said that to annoy her. But no matter how much she told herself this, she still felt terrible. She couldn't eat anymore; only the continuous flow of tears blurred her vision.
"Your Highness! Your Highness! What's wrong?" Rong'er, who was waiting outside, opened the door and saw Tian Yu crying. She quickly came in and asked.
"Rong'er!" Tian Yu hugged Rong'er and continued to cry.
"Princess Consort, don't cry. The Crown Prince has always been like this. It's good that he came. Things will get better slowly."
Tian Yu wiped away her tears, thinking to herself, "What does this silly girl know? I thought she was just sad about the Crown Prince leaving."
Looking at the festive decorations in the room, Tian Yu couldn't sleep. She dismissed Rong'er and sat alone by the bed, thinking about the time Zhao Moyan took her boating on the lake, the time Zhao Moyan spent the Lantern Festival with her, and the wonderful days when the three of them wrote and read together.
For the first time, Tian Yu hoped that there were gods. She knelt down, closed her eyes, put her hands together, and said, "If there really are gods, please, please bless Zhao Moyan so that he can return safely. I don't want anything, I just want him and Tangyuan to be safe and healthy. I am willing to exchange my life for it. Please."
Meanwhile, outside the capital, Prince Wu was fighting with Zhao Moyan. Several of Prince Wu's guards had already been taken down by Zhao Moyan, and Prince Wu was clearly no match for him. If he hadn't been injured, he would probably be lying on the ground by now. Prince Wu struggled to fend off Zhao Moyan's attacks and shouted, "Calm down! It's too late now. Even if you take Tian Yu away now, what good will it do? Have you thought about the consequences?" Prince Wu had arranged for people to stop Zhao Moyan from entering the city, but it seemed that he couldn't stop him now.
"I'll ask you one more time, whose child is it?"
"You've already received the message, why ask again!"
"Get out of the way! I want her to tell me herself!"
"Zhao Moyan, I will not let you pass today. You cannot take Tian Yu with you. Go back now before anyone finds out."
"I told you, all I want to know is whose child it is!"
"Alright, since you don't believe me, you can ask him. You should believe what he says!" Prince Wu threw down his sword, looked at the approaching carriage, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Zhao Moyan also put down his sword and looked at Li Xingyun, who was getting off the carriage. Li Xingyun leaned against the carriage and looked at Zhao Moyan. Zhao Moyan asked with difficulty, "Whose child is it?"
Li Xingyun looked at him calmly and said, "The child belongs to the Crown Prince; she conceived the child after entering the palace."
Zhao Moyan stared at Li Xingyun for a long time, then spat out a mouthful of blood, the sword slipped from his hand, and he fainted. Prince Wu supported Zhao Moyan, very worried.
After checking on him, Li Xingyun said, "He's not in any danger, he's just too tired and has suffered a heart attack from anger." He then took out a medicine bottle and fed Zhao Moyan a pill.
“He traveled a month’s journey in half a month, how could he not be tired? You should go back first, and don’t let anyone find out. I’ll handle things here.”
"Give him this medicine three times a day."
The next day, just as dawn broke, palace maids began to enter and tidy Tian Yu's appearance. The Crown Prince was already waiting outside. Upon seeing Tian Yu emerge, he took her hand and led her to pay her respects to the Emperor and the Imperial Concubine. He was completely different from his angry demeanor the night before. Tian Yu knelt and bowed according to the etiquette taught by the maids. The Emperor was very pleased, and the Imperial Concubine Li quickly stepped forward to help Tian Yu up, smiling and saying, "I didn't realize that the Crown Princess, with just a little dressing up, would be such a beauty!"
"Yes, she's always so casual when I see her, but today is definitely different," the Emperor said, glancing at Tian Yu a few more times.
Tian Yu smiled, unsure how to answer. The Crown Prince spoke first, saying, "When Father Emperor spoke, I always thought the Crown Princess was very casual. Who knew that with her dressed up like this, I almost didn't recognize her."
At this moment, Prince Wu and the other two princes also arrived. The princess and the seventh prince had only recently returned from mourning at the imperial mausoleum. They were quite surprised to see Tian Yu in such magnificent attire.
They all bowed to Tian Yu, and Tian Yu returned the bow. For the first time, Prince Wu called out, "Crown Princess!"
Tian Yu looked up at him, unsure of what to say. Suddenly, the Seventh Prince pulled Tian Yu aside and said, "Now that you're my sister-in-law, what should I call Tangyuan-gege?"
Tian Yu was taken aback for a moment, and Prince Wu quickly reminded her in a low voice, "Little Seven!"
The princess also covered the seventh prince's mouth and said, "Crown Princess, the seventh prince is ignorant, he shouldn't talk nonsense."
Under Prince Wu's gaze, the Seventh Prince pursed his lips, shrank to the princess's side, and stopped talking. Everyone then calmed down, and the Emperor said with a smile, "We're in a good mood today, so let's all stay and have a meal together later."
The Crown Prince and Tian Yu sat together. The Crown Prince's attitude today was completely different from last night. He kept smiling at Tian Yu and putting food on her plate. Tian Yu knew he was putting on a show for others, but she could only accept it with a smile. During the meal, the Crown Prince said, "Fifth Brother left early yesterday, so today Your Majesty must offer you a proper toast."
"Your Majesty, you are too kind. I had to leave early yesterday due to some business at the manor. I should be the one toasting you with this cup of wine."
Seeing their brotherly and respectful manner, Tian Yu finally finished lunch. All she wanted to do was leave this suffocating place as soon as possible. The Crown Prince had just left the palace gate when he immediately let go of Tian Yu's hand, wiped his hands with a look of disgust, and left with the words, "I have something to do. Go back by yourself," before striding away.
Tian Yu also wiped her hand that he had held with a look of disgust, then turned around and saw Prince Wu who was about to come out. She waited for a moment, then walked with Prince Wu and asked, "Is the Marquis injured?"
