Chapter 249 Suicide by Love?

After repeated attempts to persuade her failed, under Wu Yaohui's orders, palace maids wrapped Tian Yu in a quilt, and several people carried her through a side gate to a carriage. The princes, princesses, and Li Xingyun could only watch helplessly as Tian Yu was forcibly taken back to the palace. Meanwhile, at the front gate of the Marquis's residence, Zhao Moyan's body was being carried out of its coffin. The procession was swaying and staggering, but Tian Yu remained unconscious, with palace maids and imperial physicians anxiously watching over her, fearing something might happen.

In her dream, Tian Yu returned to the modern world. She was sitting on a bus heading back to her hometown, traveling along a winding mountain road. The scenery before her was breathtaking. A gentle breeze was blowing, and she was about to arrive at the orphanage. The bus stopped, and Tian Yu saw the long-lost orphanage.

The imperial physicians had exhausted all methods, but they couldn't wake Tian Yu. Wu Yaohui came every day, each time scolding the servants, but Tian Yu remained unconscious. Wu Yaohui had no choice but to have the nanny bring the child to Tian Yu's side in the hope of waking her up, but it was still ineffective. Tian Yu remained in a coma for almost half a month without any progress, and everyone was at a loss. The emperor was so angry that he punished the entire Imperial Hospital, but it was still to no avail.

Everyone believed Tian Yu would never wake up again. When Li Yong and the others learned of this, they thought it was because Tian Yu missed Zhao Moyan too much and therefore refused to awaken. The literati and scholars of the capital also expressed their regret; was the goddess of the Wu Kingdom about to perish? Tian Yu's poems once again became highly sought-after items, and her two published novels were also snapped up at high prices. Suddenly, the legend surrounding Tian Yu split into two camps: one believed it was because the royal family forced her to separate from the Marquis, while the other believed it was Tian Yu's retribution—she wanted to climb the social ladder, become empress, and betray her vow to the Marquis, so she deserved this fate!

The outskirts of Qinyuan and Tianzhuang were immersed in grief. Although they dared not ask and did not know the reason, they were willing to believe whatever Tian Yu did. Green Willow cried all day long, and tears would flow involuntarily whenever she thought of Tian Yu and the Marquis. Autumn Chrysanthemum was even busier, busy with the tasks assigned by Tian Yu, working non-stop, checking the accounts, and reminding herself that her mistress had instructed her not to make any mistakes, to manage the business well, and that they were still waiting for young master Tangyuan to return!

When the Li family, who lived far away in the mountain city, heard about Tian Yu's situation, Li Yun was about to set off for the capital that very night, but Li Xingyun sent a letter telling them not to come.

On the fifth day of Tian Yu's coma, a maid in Prince Wu's mansion gave birth to a baby girl. Because she was born to a maid, she was not taken seriously and no one cared.

That evening, Wu Yaohui, drunk, came to Tianyu Palace, dismissed the palace maids, sat down in front of Tianyu's bed, and said with a smile, "Do you really want to leave?"

"Fine! I'll grant your wish, but your two sons will have to suffer for you. Don't blame me for being ruthless."

Looking at Tian Yu lying motionless on the bed, he reached out and touched her face, saying, "If you don't wake up soon, I'm going to lose my patience." As he spoke, he reached out and grabbed the neck of the child next to Tian Yu. The little guy, who was sleeping soundly, burst into tears when he was grabbed like that. When Wu Yaohui saw the little guy crying, he started laughing and said, "I'll send him down to join his father right now. You don't know, do you? Why did Zhao Moyan die? If it weren't for him, you should be mine, belonging only to me."

Tian Yu was playing with the children at the orphanage in her sleep when suddenly she heard a little boy crying. She searched everywhere but couldn't find him. Anxious, she followed the sound to an abandoned house in the orphanage, feeling the sound was coming from there. She pushed open the door; it was pitch black inside. Then, images of her car accident flashed through her mind, followed by various other images: "Mommy, my name is Tangyuan. From now on, Tian Yu will call me Liulang, Li Xingyun, Prince Wu." Tian Yu felt a sharp pain in her head; everything she didn't want to remember flooded her mind. Then, a voice whispered in her ear: "I'll send him down to join his father. Don't you want to know why Zhao Moyan died?" Tian Yu woke up instantly, opening her eyes in disbelief. She saw Wu Yaohui standing by her bedside. Wu Yaohui also saw Tian Yu, released his grip on the child, and smiled, saying, "It's been almost a month. You're finally awake!"

Tian Yu glanced at him, then at the child beside her, and reached out to touch the child's face. But Wu Yaohui snatched the child away. Tian Yu withdrew her hand, closed her eyes, and said in a hoarse voice, "I want to drink water!"

Wu Yaohui summoned a palace maid to serve Tian Yu. Tian Yu reached out to hug the child, but the nanny had already taken the child away. Wu Yaohui smiled and said, "Don't worry, as long as you behave, he will be fine."

What do you want?

"No rush! Your Majesty, please recover your health first. There is plenty of time in the future."

After a night's rest, Tian Yu was finally able to get out of bed and walk the next day, but she still couldn't go out. Tian Yu asked many times if she could see her child, but the nanny stopped her, saying that she could not see her child without the emperor's permission.

From then on, Tian Yu was completely under house arrest. Apart from the imperial physician coming to check on her every day, no other outsiders were allowed to enter. Another half month passed, and Tian Yu's health finally improved a lot, but she was still haggard and extremely thin. The changes in her body after giving birth were very obvious, but Tian Yu did not want to change any of this. She wanted to maintain it, so in a very short period of time she gained fifteen pounds and became as fat as when she was pregnant. The fat around her waist was like a swimming ring, but she did not care at all. She just hoped to be as ugly as possible.

That day, Tian Yu finally evaded everyone's surveillance and climbed the city wall alone where she had once seen Zhao Moyan off. She had been in a coma for a month, and even now, more than a month after waking up, she still couldn't believe that Zhao Moyan was gone. His subordinates were either dismissed and exiled or stripped of their official positions and sent back to their hometowns. Li Yong voluntarily handed over his military power and returned to Old Zhao Village. Even the Third Prince planned to return to his fiefdom. The Wu Prince also made a request, but Wu Yaohui disagreed and kept him under house arrest in his mansion. Li Xingyun was also transferred back to the Imperial Hospital, but his movements were restricted.

Tian Yu didn't know why Wu Yaohui was doing all this. He had placed everyone under house arrest, eliminated dissidents, and the entire capital was filled with fear and unease. Looking down from the city wall, she really wanted to be like the lovelorn women in TV dramas and jump off to end it all.

"What!? Does the Empress intend to commit suicide for love?" Emperor Wu Yaohui said angrily when he heard that Tian Yu had gone missing and searched the entire palace, only to find her standing here.

Tian Yu didn't reply. If she could, she really wanted to jump down and end it all. Seeing her staring silently at the city wall, Wu Yaohui stepped forward, grabbed Tian Yu's wrist, and threatened loudly, "If you dare to jump down, I will make your son pay with his life and kill everyone you care about, including Li Xingyun and Ling'er!"

"The princess is your sister!"

"So what?! If you die, I'll make them all go to join you!"

Tian Yu suddenly laughed, then cried again. She shook off the emperor's hand, not even glancing at him, and went down the city wall. The cold wind blew her clothes. She didn't even have the right to die. How bad and pathetic was her life as a transmigrator!
