When Tian Yu woke up the next day, Zhao Moyan was already reading and writing with Tangyuan. Tian Yu rubbed her eyes and asked what time it was. Tangyuan smiled and said that lunch would be ready soon. Tian Yu was stunned. How could she have slept for so long? Thinking of what happened last night, Tian Yu didn't dare to look at Zhao Moyan and asked with evasive eyes, "When are we going back?"
"It's still raining outside, so we can't go back yet. I'll take you back once the rain stops," Zhao Moyan said with a smile, noticing Tian Yu's embarrassed expression.
Tian Yu listened carefully and realized it was still raining outside. Tang Yuan said happily, "If it keeps raining, will Mother stay with us forever?"
Zhao Moyan nodded in agreement, and Tian Yu, speechless, quickly said, "The rain will stop sooner or later."
"It's going to keep raining," Tangyuan said with a smile.
Tian Yu thought she couldn't argue with the child, so she touched her belly and tried to get out of bed. There was a pair of boots on the floor, which looked like Zhao Moyan's. Tian Yu gestured to them but could only put them on. They were huge! Really huge, like a small boat. Luckily, she had stuffed things in the front and put on thick insoles, so she could barely walk. Tangyuan and Zhao Moyan, who were at the table, were amused by Tian Yu's appearance.
Tian Yu found herself ridiculous and laughed along. Stretching, she went to the door and saw it was still raining heavily outside. Zhao Moyan offered to find her something to eat, but Tian Yu stopped him. There were some pastries on the table, and Tian Yu ate a little to stave off hunger. Zhao Moyan continued reading and writing with Tangyuan, occasionally glancing at Tian Yu. Tian Yu, bored, also stole glances at them, quickly looking away when their eyes met. Zhao Moyan didn't speak, just smiled. Tian Yu even wondered if he was the one who had lost control of his emotions last night; how had this person suddenly become so gentle and refined?
Thinking she could relax for a while, Tian Yu was soon forced to sit down and practice calligraphy with him. Tian Yu really didn't want to practice, but Zhao Moyan held Tian Yu's hand and taught her so earnestly. The two were so close that Tian Yu had no mind to practice calligraphy. Tang Yuan, on the other hand, was very happy. He was thinking that it was better for him that they could be together!
At noon, Li Yong and two soldiers brought over the food. Tian Yu, finally relieved, quickly said, "Mr. Zhao! May I rest for a bit?"
"Okay!" Zhao Moyan released Tian Yu and tapped her on the head.
Li Yong saw Tian Yu and said with a smile, "Sister-in-law is awake! You've worked hard, it's time to eat."
Tian Yu was completely confused by what he said, thinking that she hadn't done anything hard and what hardship she had endured. But Li Yong kept grinning foolishly and said to Tangyuan, "You're going to have a younger brother or sister soon."
Tian Yu then understood what he meant. Looking at herself, she realized he had misunderstood. Tian Yu patiently explained, "Nothing happened between Zhao Moyan and me. Can you please stop making wild guesses and don't corrupt Tangyuan?"
"I understand, don't worry, sister-in-law." Li Yong said with a smile, clearly not believing it at all.
Tian Yu glared at Zhao Moyan, demanding an explanation. Zhao Moyan coughed twice to clear his throat and said to Li Yong, "Alright, Li Yong, it's not what you think. Let's eat!"
"What, brother?! My lord, you haven't won over your sister-in-law yet with such a good opportunity?! You're going to drive me crazy!" Li Yong shouted anxiously.
"Li Yong!"
"Dazhuang!"
Tian Yu and Zhao Moyan shouted together. They looked at each other and Tian Yu took a deep breath and said, word by word, "Li Yong, how many times do I have to explain to you before you understand that your older brother and I are NOT going to be together!"
Zhao Moyan remained silent. Tangyuan, displeased, looked up at Tian Yu and said, "Why is it impossible, Mother? Doesn't Mother like Father?"
Tian Yu realized that Tang Yuan was still there, and turned to Tang Yuan with a smile, saying, "No, of course Mommy likes Daddy and Tang Yuan too, but liking someone doesn't necessarily mean you have to be together. Sometimes, for everyone's sake, we can choose to live separately, which may be happier that way."
“No! If you like each other, you should be together. Did you hear that, Father? Mother said she likes you, but why doesn’t she want to be with you? Father, do you not like Mother?” Tangyuan asked Zhao Moyan again.
"Of course Father loves Mother too, we'll be together," Zhao Moyan said to Tangyuan, but his eyes were on Tian Yu.
Tian Yu didn't want to explain anymore. She felt that the more she explained, the worse it got, so she decided to just shut up and eat.
In Tian Yu's silence, they finally finished their lunch quietly. After lunch, the rain was still falling. Li Yong wanted to take Tangyuan to play in other tents. Seeing his smile, Tian Yu naturally disagreed, but Tangyuan wanted to go, so she had to let him go. However, after they left, only Zhao Moyan and Tian Yu were left in the tent. Tian Yu was lying on the table, feeling very bored. Zhao Moyan put down the book in his hand and suggested, "Want to play chess?"
“Ah! Chess? I don’t know how to play chess,” Tian Yu said.
"It's okay, I'll teach you!"
Thinking that there was nothing else to do, and that it would be even more troublesome if Zhao Moyan forced her to practice calligraphy again, Tian Yu nodded and smiled, saying, "Then I'll trouble you, Mr. Zhao!"
After Zhao Moyan's patient explanation, the two officially started playing chess. However, after several rounds, Tian Yu kept cheating, but she didn't win a single game. Seeing that she was about to lose again, Tian Yu simply messed up the chessboard and said angrily, "I'm not playing anymore! I'm not playing anymore! You always win."
"I'll let you win next time," Zhao Moyan said with a smile as he picked up the chess piece.
"No, even if we win, it'll be because you threw the game. I don't want to play anymore."
"Alright then! There are books over there you can take a look," Zhao Moyan suggested again.
Tian Yu glanced at the bookshelf behind Zhao Moyan's desk, then immediately got up and casually browsed through it. The books were mostly military texts or poems and songs. Tian Yu didn't want to look at them and was about to give up when she picked one up and opened it. Suddenly, another book fell out. Tian Yu bent down to pick it up and saw that the page read "The First Marquis's Love History." She then grinned mischievously and held up the book to Zhao Moyan, who was tidying up a chessboard, saying, "Your Excellency has quite the refined taste, enjoying reading these kinds of books."
