Chapter 123: The End of the World (2/2)

She walked and admired the scenery.

I remember seeing the history of this world in the church when I was in the Third Base.

Before the apocalypse five years ago, this place was a fairly developed world, several years more developed than the modern world she lived in. Many of the architectural styles and customs were somewhat European. For example, churches could be seen almost everywhere. In every small city, no matter how small, churches would account for 50% of the population.

For example, if she stayed here longer, she would have seen at least ten churches along the way.

There is also a church in Taohualin.

She strolled around slowly, and when she realized what was happening, she was already checking in at the church.

If we look into these churches, we will find that they are actually used for commemoration and do not have any particularly profound religious concepts.

Some are to commemorate some people, some are to record some events or developments, scientific and technological progress and inventions.

These record markers have been washed away by the apocalypse, and most of them are left with only broken walls and ruins. In the darkness of the apocalypse, they struggle to express the last of human civilization.

The sunlight gradually turned blood red.

Pei Xiqing narrowed his eyes.

The high temperatures are coming again.

She raised her head and took a photo of the building in front of her, which looked like an ancient tomb or castle illuminated by the red light, to record its most mysterious and shocking moment.

Pei Xiqing had never felt this way before, feeling the vastness of the world and the loneliness at the end of the world.

She sat behind the window, avoiding the scorching heat outside, and carefully read the words on the inscription in the church. When she looked up again, night had fallen and the entire city was once again shrouded in black smoke from severe pollution.

This kind of air pressure makes it hard to breathe.

Pei Xiqing packed up her things and left the church.

I'm not going back tonight.

I plan to look forward.

Because she was on the fifth floor of the church, which was the very top, she saw lights and the smell of people about two meters ahead.

In the wilderness of the apocalypse, there are usually wild teams or teams of superpowers out on missions. When she saw that place, the more she looked at it, the less it looked like it, so she planned to go over and find out more about the specific situation.

I'm just sitting around anyway.

How much harm can a zombie like her suffer?

Pei Xiqing zipped up his black jacket and put on a mask, completely covering up his exposed skin to ensure that no part of his body was exposed. Then, wearing the saber he had picked up, he slowly approached the place where the fire was.

At first she only planned to inquire about the situation from a distance, but as soon as she arrived, she saw several cars parked in front of the house with lights on.

Several groups of people came down from upstairs and walked into the house.

Standing at the door were a man and a woman, both wearing aprons, constantly greeting people: "Hey! Brother Chen is here! We have great wine and delicious food here today, please come in!"

Doomsday restaurant?

Not very reliable.

Pei Xiqing turned around and prepared to leave.

But it was seen by the sharp-eyed proprietress.

She trotted over, grabbed Pei Xi's arm, and looked her up and down: "Oh my God!"

The other person stared at Pei Xiqing's exposed eyes for a few seconds, with a hint of surprise in his eyes, and then said enthusiastically: "Girl! You are on your way too, right? Which superpower team are you from? Come on, come on, you're tired from traveling, you must eat something. Let's go to my sister-in-law's shop to eat something."

Pei Xiqing asked, "Opening a restaurant in the wilderness during the apocalypse, aren't you afraid of zombies?"

"Oh, there's nothing to be afraid of. Our restaurant is reinforced with iron plates inside and out. If the zombies come, we'll just close the doors and windows. Not even a fly can fly in!"

As she spoke, Mrs. Wang pulled her towards the restaurant.

Pei Xiqing became interested after hearing her say that. She asked with a half-smile, "Sister-in-law, you are so skilled and bold. Is this a cannibal restaurant?"
