Chapter 4 His Sight (1/2)

The passage of time was like a death warrant. In the blink of an eye, forty minutes had passed.

There wasn't much time left as they said.

Pei Xiqing opened the door and got out of the car. His head was buzzing and his face gradually turned pale.

Can't die here.

She wanted to go further, but she hadn't taken more than a few steps.

A sheathed dagger was thrown.

I don’t know who lost it.

Only Duan Xiaolin was standing not far away. His tall and superior figure made him look steady and calm. He was talking to the man beside him. He glanced in her direction and saw her somewhat shaky figure coming towards him, then he crushed his cigarette casually.

Pei Xiqing looked up: "Captain."

Duan Xiaolin looked at her.

She is fragile, yet her eyes are full of charm.

"You should be the captain of this team, right? Thank you for bringing me here and not abandoning me halfway. I feel like I'm about to be infected, so I'll leave on my own and not disturb you." She returned the dagger to him, "This is back to you."

"It's not mine." Duan Xiaolin said.

"Whose is that?"

Ling Lang: "My, my, use the dagger to dig out the dead flesh in the wound, maybe it will be effective."

"You should have told me earlier. It's probably too late now."

"As long as you haven't been infected yet, there's still a chance," he said half-truthfully.

The woman next to her folded her arms and said, "It does make sense, but everyone who has tried it has been in so much pain."

"He died of pain," she added.

"But my dear, you're really impressive that you've managed to hold on until now. A typical psychic would develop fever, excruciating pain, scratching their ears and cheeks, and even start biting people within two hours, and be fully infected within 12 hours. You've been around for so long, and you're still conscious. You're definitely something special."

Pei Xiqing opened his lips, seemed to think for a moment, and then blurted out, "I'm not going to become a zombie king, am I?"

The woman laughed. "We haven't encountered the Zombie King yet, but it seems it needs to eat a certain number of zombies before it appears. Why don't you try it now?"

Pei Xiqing pursed her lips, "That's not necessary."

She pulled out the dagger, which gleamed coldly and was extremely sharp.

But before she could do anything, Duan Xiaolin pulled the dagger out of her hand and threw it to Ling Lang without even looking at it.

There was no emotion on his face, and his voice was a little cold: "Just kidding."

Ling Lang felt a little uncomfortable and immediately put away the dagger. "I'm sorry for lying to you. Digging out dead flesh will only increase the pain. You deserve a serum in your current condition."

Pei Xiqing refused immediately, "I prefer being a zombie."

?

Ling Lang looked at her as if she were a ghost.

Weird.

"Even if the serum could save you, it's too late. We don't have any serum with us. The nearest city with it is probably at the Fifth Base, several kilometers away." The woman explained, "If we send it to you now, it won't be in time either."

"Then I... don't have much time."

"Be prepared."

"Yeah." Pei Xiqing really didn't care. If she couldn't hold on, it would be fine. Even if she could, it would be worse than turning into a zombie. She really couldn't run.

She silently made up her mind that even if she died, she would hold on until she had a tour of the end of the world before dying.

It wouldn't be a wasted trip. Maybe I could get some inspiration for my own apocalyptic film.

Maybe she could continue filming, but the chances of her surviving being thrown from such a height are probably low.

A dozen minutes later, the others were studying the map, seemingly discussing their next route. She squatted beside the car and took a sip of the water the woman handed her. "Thank you."

Long Yan said: "If you can bear it, we can send you to the base for treatment, but you may become a test subject."

"Then I...m better off dead."

Long Yan laughed: "You really have no ambition."

"The fact that I've survived until now is already my greatest ambition." She raised her lips and smiled weakly.

As an unimportant cannon fodder female supporting role, she has been surviving in a situation where she is doomed to die for almost 24 hours.

"That's right, you don't have any special powers yet, come on."
