Chapter 50 I Can Accept It (1/2)

When the prepared meal was served, Pei Xiqing couldn't wait to taste it.

Duan Xiaolin's craftsmanship was much better than she had imagined.

It can definitely stand the test of her modern stomach.

She looked at the man while she ate.

Duan Xiaolin took a porcelain soup spoon and placed it in her bowl. He poured her half a bowl of soup and asked with his head down, "Is it not to your liking?"

"No."

The dishes he cooked were neither very light nor very flavorful. They were the kind of home-cooked dishes that she loved to eat when she was in school.

Pei Xiqing took a sip of the soup and said, "I like it very much."

She paused before continuing, "When I was busy before, I wanted to eat this kind of food. When I was a child studying, I also wanted to eat this kind of food. I didn't expect to eat it here."

She wanted to lament about her miserable life as a minor actor after college and her life as a slave after graduation, but when she looked up and saw the man staring at her silently, she immediately felt something was wrong: "I shouldn't have told you about my past, right?"

She remembered that there was no such thing.

He probably only knew some of her past events in S1. He probably had no idea about the original owner's past.

The man nodded: "No, I only know that you left S1, and the specific reason is still related to another man."

It's really like shooting oneself in the foot.

I feel guilty when talking about Pei Xiqing.

She couldn't explain to anyone that she was not the same person, and the things she did were not her intention.

I'm afraid no one will believe it if I tell them.

Pei Xiqing took a big mouthful of rice and swallowed it before saying, "Well...it's like this, but I want to tell you something."

After much hesitation, she still wanted to give the man a shot of prevention.

Don't let anything happen, he will feel that she cheated on him.

"You talk, I'm listening." He pulled out a chair and sat down next to her.

Pei Xiqing pondered for a moment: "When I was in S1, it wasn't just because I was involved with a man that I was kicked out. Even before joining S1, I had some 'grudges' with quite a few people."

After saying that, she took the initiative to look at the man's expression.

Duan Xiaolin's expression was still the same as usual, calm and composed. She seemed to want to see other expressions in his eyes, but the man just smiled and said, "Well, I know."

"You know?!"

She opened her mouth slightly.

"I can barely guess a little," he said. "It's more difficult for girls to survive in the end of the world than for men."

As he spoke, he steadily picked up some food for her and said, "It's common to be forced to do things against your will."

It seemed like he knew a lot of things without her having to tell him.

Pei Xiqing breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, I didn't lie to him and I was able to get away with it.

He continued, "I know this is your personal privacy. If you don't tell me, I won't ask any more questions."

"Thank you." Pei Xiqing said softly, "I didn't tell you before because I didn't dare to trust others."

"Do you believe it now?"

"I trust you a little bit now."

The man chuckled.

Pei Xiqing: "Don't laugh, I'm serious."

"Yeah, very good."

"It's rare to trust someone in my life."

"It seems I still have to work harder."

As he spoke, he looked towards Pei Xiqing, his eyes seemed to contain some strong possessiveness hidden beneath the calmness.

Pei Xiqing's eyelashes flickered, and her frantic heartbeat could not calm down because of him.

"I'm telling you this just to let you know that, in order to survive, I'll do whatever it takes, using everyone around me. I'm not some... ignorant person, and certainly not as pure and innocent as you imagine."

There is nothing shameful about this.

Dare to face your own desires and ambitions as an ordinary human being, work hard to get what you want, and if you can't get it, find another way.
