Chapter 71 The Bad Woman Who Steals Men (1/2)

Pei Xiqing had just arrived and hadn't even knocked when there was a sudden sound of something hitting the door.

She and Long Yan looked at each other.

Long Yan said: "It's a human."

Using her elbow, she smashed the window open, stepped on it, pointed at the old man inside who was hitting someone with a kettle, and said, "Put it down!"

Pei Xiqing also looked out the window.

Grandma Wang was kicked against the door by an old man. She was lying on the ground in a twisted posture, with blood all over her forehead. She had fainted a long time ago.

"Who the hell are you?! I'm teaching this damn old woman a lesson and telling you to mind your own business. Otherwise, I'll beat you up too!"

Long Yan fired, and a bullet went straight through the old man's palm as he continued to commit the crime.

Seeing the old man wailing with his hands covered, she sneered.

"Who the hell do you think your father is?"

After sending the unconscious old lady to a nearby hospital, Pei Xiqing took care of her by her bedside for the entire morning. Only after hearing the doctor say she was out of danger did she nod and say, "Thank you."

"Let the old lady stay in the hospital for the next few days. She'll probably need to stay for about a week. Are you a family member of the patient?"

"I'm not. This grandma has... no family members."

"Her family members are dead?"

"I guess so."

"Then come and handle the paperwork for her. Someone will be here to take care of her. Once her treatment is complete, we'll transfer her to a nursing home. You can be assured of the conditions there; she'll have plenty of care and attention."

"Is it really possible?"

"Okay, but you'd better ask the person's opinion. If he doesn't want to, then there's nothing we can do."

As soon as the doctor finished speaking, the old lady on the hospital bed opened her eyes, held Pei Xiqing's hand and said, "Good boy... Grandma, please go and handle the formalities. Grandma doesn't want to leave you anymore."

Pei Xiqing nodded: "Okay."

Grandma Wang held her hand again, her voice so low that she had to lean in close to hear it.

She said, "You kid... I didn't expect to see you again. You better be careful with that man who came with you to buy vegetables for grandma last time. He's not a good person... Grandma, cough cough cough... Grandma is afraid that you'll be cheated and suffer the same way as me!"

See her crying.

Pei Xiqing hurried to comfort him.

Although he didn't know why she was so hostile towards Duan Xiaolin, he could only calm down his emotions for now.

She completed the formalities for the old lady and made sure that her family would not come after her before she handed her over to the hospital staff.

This was the place recommended by Duan Xiaolin, and he must have made arrangements in advance. There were strict cordons and various patrol personnel all around, but she could come and go freely, and even take photos and check in at the iconic churches behind the hospital.

Long Yan was already asleep. She was walking alone on the path in the woods and before she knew it, she had arrived in front of the church.

There is a monument outside the church.

There are words engraved on it.

It records the third base's gradual growth from its initial establishment to its current strength in the last year of the war, as well as the promotions and transfers of various leaders and the casualties of several famous and massive battles against zombies in the last year of the war.

The church houses many relics of martyrs.

Everyone passing by was dressed in gorgeous clothes, and some even brought their pets. Perhaps they were the families of the officers that Xia Jingyu had mentioned a few days ago.

She followed the crowd inside, took the candle and cross handed to her by the waiter, and slowly walked into the lobby.

The architectural style inside is really worth checking out. It looks like a vampire castle at night, and also like a tower of salvation for all living beings.

The church was tall and spacious inside. Pei Xiqing walked around alone, stopping here and there, and saw many representative things of the late Qing Dynasty. There was even a museum inside, which was full of weapons that had been replaced over the years and the earliest serum samples.

On the attic next door, there were many aristocratic women in gorgeous clothes sitting together drinking tea and chatting. She didn't pay attention at first, and was immersed in taking pictures and checking in, when suddenly she heard someone shouting.

"Little lover?"

Pei Xi realized it belatedly and was stunned.

Meeting Xia Jingyu's smiling eyes.

She was slightly stunned, "Why...are you here?"

"Those are the families of many officers at the base. This is a great place for the ladies of the base to chat and play. I came here to get close to them and gather some information. What are you doing here? Are you...taking secret photos or stealing secrets?"

Pei Xiqing explained: "Just taking pictures."

"Oh~ I thought you were here to steal the base's secrets." Xia Jingyu crossed her arms and suddenly chuckled: "It was just a joke, don't take it seriously."

"OK."

Xia Jingyu asked again: "Are you here alone?"

"yes."
