Chapter 134 Abandoned Train

When Chu Zhiqin arrived, Xi Xi had already managed to get the kitten Aura into the last carriage.

Xi Xi took the hiking backpack from Chu Zhiqin and slung it on her back. Only then did she notice the half-asleep little white duck perched on Chu Zhiqin's shoulder.

It's all because there's no light in this tunnel day and night; the little guy's biological clock is all messed up. His little eyes are blinking as he examines everything inside the abandoned train.

Although Chu Zhiqin had already included the small RV in her vehicle talisman, she was still worried about carrying it with her, so she handed the talisman to Xi Xi and put it into the golden lucky bag.

Inside the train carriage, it was dark and deep, and only with the azure light emitted by Xi Xi could one barely see the surrounding scenery.

The air was filled with a unique smell, a mixture of rust, mildew, and old dust, which was not pleasant and made the two of them involuntarily frown.

Xi Xi's eyes were sharp and alert, after all, every unusual terrain in the game must have its reason for existence.

She was convinced that there must be something inside the train, and even if she didn't find anything of value, she could at least scavenge some useful items to take with her.

The seats inside the carriage were already in a terrible state, and the seat cushions were crooked and twisted.

Vines and weeds grew tenaciously from the cracks, spreading wildly as if asserting their dominance over the abandoned train.

Xi Xi carefully navigated around these natural "obstacles" to avoid tripping, and quickly scanned her surroundings before starting to search diligently.

The leather bags on the luggage rack have become very worn and are covered with the marks of time; some parts are even peeling.

But when Xi Xi unzipped the complicated inner and outer zippers, she found that the clothes inside were still intact.

Aside from the musty smell, the fabric still had a soft, luxurious feel, even better than the material of the clothes she was wearing.

It just so happened that she and her mother were both extremely short of clothes, and the only men's clothes they had were given to Granny You in the underground ruins dungeon.

So, regardless of whether the size and style of these clothes were suitable, Xi Xi stuffed them all into the golden lucky bag without saying a word.

Putting everything else aside, even if they can't be worn, they can still be used as rags. Maybe Xi's mom can even alter them and make some little clothes for Aura and Little White Duck to wear.

In contrast, Xi's mother, wearing a headlamp, searched carefully for a long time but still didn't find anything of particular value.

She found only a few batteries and some items that were so rotten they were unrecognizable.

However, putting aside the supplies, the boxes used to pack them look quite nice.

Although old-fashioned suitcases may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, they are exceptionally sturdy. Most importantly, they can be moved with ease, no matter how much you drag them.

So, Xi's mother had a brilliant idea and decided to use the suitcase as a portable storage basket.

This way, she could more easily drag it around to scavenge for all sorts of supplies.

Meanwhile, Xi Xi wasn't idle either. She swiftly drew a sickle from her waist, unfurled its blade, and forcefully pried open the rusty locks.

With a crisp sound, the tightly closed box was finally opened.

In an instant, all sorts of items poured out from inside like a tidal wave.

Among them were some loose utility knives, which had become rusty due to being left idle for a long time;

There are also several old watches, the hands on the dial have long since stopped turning, and the straps have faded to a dull color;

In addition, there are a few yellowed old photos, but their specific appearances are really hard to discern.

Surprisingly, some sparkling jewelry was also hidden among them.

These jewels and ornaments have not been weathered and still shine brightly.

Although they had no practical use in the current survival situation, their dazzling light was so beautiful that Xi Xi could not resist the instinctive human desire for gold. After a sigh, she put them all into her pocket.

Then, Xi Xi walked to the end of the connecting area between the carriages.

Suddenly, Aura in front of her seemed to be greatly frightened. She bristled, arched her back, and jumped up, muttering to herself, "You scared me to death, meow! It was just a mirror!"

Hearing this, Xi Xi looked at the kitten with shining eyes with amusement.

She walked up and pushed open the bathroom door. Apart from the full-length mirror, a foul odor immediately hit her.

Xi Xi looked around and, after confirming that there was nothing unusual, frowned, closed the door, and continued walking towards the carriage ahead.

The penultimate carriage appears to be a dining car, a place where passengers used to enjoy meals, but now it presents a desolate and dilapidated scene.

The empty dining table was covered in dust, and broken and worn-out tableware was scattered everywhere. The former prosperity was long gone.

Xi Xi stepped over the filth on the floor and searched carefully through the ruins. She found some forgotten recipes and menus.

The menus were yellowed and brittle; they broke in two as soon as Xi Xi picked them up and fell to the ground. She had to bend down to look at them, but found that the writing on them was already blurred and illegible.

Fortunately, she found some old but well-preserved plates and wine glasses in the cupboard.

To her surprise, after much effort, she finally managed to pry open a reinforced cabinet and unexpectedly discovered several large bottles of unopened brandy inside!

[Item Description: This is a well-preserved, high-proof distilled spirit that is safe to drink.]

Upon hearing the item notification, Xi Xi felt relieved and carefully placed the bottles of brandy into the lucky bag.

As for the old tableware, she didn't lack any, but that didn't stop her from taking all of them.

Xi Xi grabbed a tablecloth from the surrounding table, wiped it casually, and then hung the old tableware in the trading hall.

Although it's quite old, it still retains its functionality. It can still be monetized, so it would be a real shame to miss out; after all, every little bit helps.

Xi Xi continued searching without any sign of disgust, focusing intently on finding anything useful in this chaotic space.

Suddenly, her gaze was drawn to the coal stove in the corner, which had once been used for heating, as if by a magnet.

Although the coal stove was already cold and devoid of any warmth, some coal ash still remained inside the furnace.

Xi Xi excitedly rummaged through the coal chunks of varying sizes around the stove, since these coal chunks were much more useful than the dead wood.

Immediately afterwards, Xi Xi took the unused tablecloths and napkins from the cabinet, and even picked out a relatively clean open vase to fill with all the coal.

After doing all this, Xi Xi stood up, clapped her dark hands, and continued walking towards the front carriage.

And so, Xi Xi continued her search, and before she knew it, she had arrived at the train's power section.

What comes into view is the water car at the very end of the power compartment. This was once the heart of the steam locomotive, but now it is a silent and desolate place...
