Now it was Chu Zhiqin's turn to be stunned, and a blank expression appeared on her face.
You see, the most complex casual games she usually plays are nothing more than Dou Dizhu and Mahjong. She was completely baffled by the intricate rules and settings of this survival game instance.
She lowered her head slightly, brought her close to Xi Xi's ear, and asked in a low voice, as if this would prevent the game system from hearing: "Then... then can I give you all the things I've collected?"
After saying that, she looked at Xi Xi with a nervous expression, afraid of getting a negative answer and having no choice but to fight each other.
Xi Xi looked at her mother with amusement and gave a brief explanation of the standard team formation procedures for game dungeons.
Chu Zhiqin was relieved. She cleared her throat and said "Yes" clearly to the game prompt.
A burst of light particles flashed, and a white bracelet appeared on the left wrists of both Xi Xi and Chu Zhiqin.
[Item Notice: Dungeon Party Identification Bracelet. Adventurers wearing the same bracelet cannot deal actual damage to each other.]
He even has teammates protecting him! How thoughtful!
Xi Xi happily fiddled with the white bracelet on her wrist.
The bracelet is made of an exceptionally light material. You can hardly feel any weight when you wear it on your wrist. It's as soft as a feather falling on your skin, and you can hardly notice it when you put it in your sleeve.
She recalled the item clues with a hint of curiosity, then leaned closer to Chu Zhiqin and said, "Mom, why don't you try slapping me?"
This was the first time Chu Zhiqin had ever heard someone make such a request... She gave her daughter a reproachful look, somewhat bewildered, and then ignored Xi Xi, continuing to diligently search for supplies.
Xi Xi was really concerned about the extent of protection that "cannot cause actual harm to each other" meant, but since her mother was unwilling to cooperate, she had no choice but to give up.
So the two of them began to search the abandoned train thoroughly, inside and out.
Xi Xi nimbly flipped over the driver's cab and nimbly climbed onto the top of the carriage.
Holding tools she had taken from the coal car, she began to dismantle the train's whistle and steam whistle, breaking them down into metal fragments one by one.
Just as she arrived at the sandbox to dismantle the large smoke pipe and smoke removal plate, Aura, who was standing by keeping watch, suddenly meowed.
Through Aura's telepathic message, Xi Xi immediately crawled onto the car roof, flipping over to avoid the sudden danger. Looking back, Xi Xi realized that a huge red-eyed rat had darted out of the superheater pipe.
It is several times larger than an ordinary mouse, even larger than an adult cow cat named Aura, and its fur is dark in color, unlike the giant gerbil that Xi Xi had encountered in the desert.
The cave rat monster's eyes were like two burning coals, emitting a vicious red light.
Its forepaws are as sharp as knives, and its hind limbs are strong and powerful, clearly the product of some strange force that has twisted and mutated it.
Xi Xi's gaze sharpened, and her right hand swiftly drew the multi-bladed scythe from her waist like lightning.
However, the front of the train was not flat, making it very difficult to stand. If Xi Xi was not careful, she would stumble and the rat would slip through her.
Undeterred, the giant cave rat pounced on Xi Xi with astonishing speed.
Its sharp claws instantly seized Xi Xi's hair, attempting to drag her into the dark, overheated pipes.
At the critical moment, Xi Xi made an elegant turn and, using the force of the rat monster's drag, suddenly swung her sword at it.
Aura leaped up from the bottom and bit the mouse's tail.
With a sharp "swoosh," the rat monster's claws severed several strands of Xi Xi's hair, splattering blood and filling the air with a pungent, fishy stench.
Without pausing for a moment, Xi Xi seized the opportunity, her sickle drawing a sharp arc in the air, slashing fiercely at her target with a whooshing sound.
Unfortunately, the cave rat monster was too agile. It twisted its body at an astonishing speed and struggled to break free from Aura's mouth.
Nevertheless, Aura managed to bite off the rat monster's tail.
The giant rat, severely injured, cried out in agony, letting out a piercing scream. It leaped off the roof of the train like lightning.
Using its size advantage, the rat monster quickly darted into the gaps between the piles of rubble beside the railway and disappeared into the darkness in the blink of an eye.
Aura meowed and jumped off the train, chasing after the rat monster in the direction it had fled.
Xi Xi also wanted to press her advantage. She followed closely behind, picked up her sickle, switched to water blade mode, and swung it towards the direction of the rubble.
But apart from a series of rustling sounds and the lingering smell of blood in the air, where was the rat?
Seeing this, Xi Xi quickly opened the light screen map. She saw that the red dot on the light screen map had already quietly moved away, and soon passed the adjacent highway tunnel, and finally disappeared at the end of the map.
"You little brat, don't let me see you again!" Aura thought to herself, quite indignantly, as she scratched at the railway rubble with her two paws.
"I was careless..." Xi Xi didn't have time to pay attention to Aura. Instead, she regretfully tidied her hair, which had been cut off.
The rubber band seemed to have come off at some point, and Xi Xi searched around in the dark without success, so she had to give up.
The rat's remaining tail still emitted a foul stench. She suppressed the nausea and vomiting, gathered the remains together, and set them on fire.
While the ecological distribution within the tunnel is not yet well understood, Xi Xi knew that creatures that spend a long time in darkness would have a more acute sense of smell and hearing.
The smell of blood is too strong and might attract some monsters with a keen sense of smell, so it's best to burn it as soon as possible.
As Xi Xi continued forward, she placed the light screen map beside her and examined it out of the corner of her eye.
She quickly disassembled the brake shoes, pistons, boiler, and air pump at the front of the vehicle, breaking down everything that could be disassembled into metal fragments.
Soon after, Xi Xi finally reunited with her mother. After learning that her daughter had just been attacked by a cave rat monster, Chu Zhiqin couldn't help but feel worried.
"Greedy, you're so greedy..." Chu Zhiqin, dragging her suitcase, looked both frightened and helpless. She glanced at Xi Xi's slightly unruly hair, patted her chest, and said, "Thank goodness, I'm not hurt..."
But her daughter not only didn't stop, she even crawled under the train and started dismantling its exterior...
"Hiss, how can this be called greed..." Xi Xi wiped the sweat from her forehead after tearing off a large piece of the train car body, and stuffed the metal fragments she had obtained into the lucky bag at her waist. "This is called making the most of resources!"
"Have you found any other fragments of the diary?" Seeing her mother's worried face, Xi Xi stepped forward, patted her shoulder, and changed the subject.
