Chapter 155 Empty-headed

With the markers, Xi Xi no longer needed to run around making marks, which saved her a lot of trouble.

She lay down on her upper bunk and closed her eyes to ponder.

The only certainty is that this sewer location is so special that there must be some hidden missions involved.

However, the terrain inside the sewers is rugged and uneven, with varying widths, making it impossible for vehicles to travel, which would greatly reduce efficiency.

The sewage ditch remained unchanged, but it was filled with scattered trash, making it difficult for Xi Xi's amphibious vehicle to navigate. Therefore, walking was the only option…

Xi Xi gradually fell asleep while thinking, until she was woken up at 4:20 a.m. by Chu Zhiqin, who was on night watch. Chu Zhiqin yawned and fell into a deep sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Looking at the Ola and the little white duck still standing in front of the central control screen, Xi Xi poured herself a glass of cold water and forced it down.

After a long day of sound sleep, Aura and the little white duck were finally back to their most energetic state from the night before. They were in high spirits. Xi Xi went over to take a look and saw that their mother had prepared some dried fish for them as a midnight snack. They were living a very comfortable life.

She peeked out from behind a corner of the curtain. The surroundings were pitch black, even colder and damper than inside the tunnel, and a thin layer of fog had formed on the car window.

She reached out and wiped the condensation off the windowpane, then peered out. Apart from the occasional sound of running water from the drain, everything around her was quiet.

The parking spot happened to be a relatively wide bend in the sewer, where the road conditions on both sides were clearly visible.

Just as Xi Xi was trying her best to peer into the darkness, Aura and the little white duck suddenly cried out in unison.

What's going on?! Xi Xi rushed to the central control screen, but the pixel map was still gray, seemingly no different from before.

"Mommy, oh my god, I think there was something just now!" Aura screamed, whispering to the little white duck beside her, "The second time! I saw it for the second time, meow!"

The little white duck quacked twice impatiently and suddenly picked up the corner of Xi Xi's clothes.

"Isn't it too late for you to chase after them now?" Aura said with a rare serious expression.

Xi Xi, who had only a vague understanding before, suddenly had a flash of inspiration. That's right, how come she didn't think of that? There's another way!

Xi Xi quickly took off the synesthetic necklace from Aura's neck and hung it around the little white duck's neck, then whispered, "Little white duck, go and fly around the area and see what's around!"

After saying that, Xi Xi pressed the window button and released the little white duck. The little white duck flapped its wings, circled once, and then flew straight towards the direction the water was flowing.

Aura meowed anxiously beside her, but without the synesthetic necklace, Xi Xi couldn't hear its thoughts.

She had no time to pay attention to Aura, so she stuffed a small dried fish into Aura's mouth to shut the little cat's foul mouth.

Xi Xi focused all her mental energy on the synesthetic ring in her hand, and in a moment, the vision of the little white duck flying appeared before her eyes.

At first, Xi Xi felt a little dizzy, but she quickly got used to the speed of the little white duck.

I was surrounded by intense darkness, with only slivers of light seeping through the narrow crevices in the rock wall and through the bioluminescent spores of the plants.

Water droplets dripped continuously from the dark, damp walls, making a "drip-drip" sound that echoed in the empty pipes, creating a sense of eeriness and loneliness, yet also a sense of normalcy.

As the little white duck flew swiftly, Xi Xi's field of vision shifted accordingly, and she could even smell the faint scents around her.

The walls of the sewer were covered with a thick layer of moss, and mold and black spots were spreading rampantly.

An indescribable musty smell wafted over, mixed with the stench emanating from the sewage flowing below, creating the unique ambiance of this underground world.

The sewage rushed rapidly through the narrow and winding pipes, like a wild horse, emitting a deafening, low roar.

Various kinds of waste and garbage rush through the turbulent water, leaving behind clearly visible ripples in their wake. These ripples collide and merge with each other before eventually disappearing.

However, what Xi Xi found very strange was that, just like before, the little white duck seemed to have no thoughts at all.

Compared to Aura's usual endless and rambling thoughts, Xi Xi didn't hear a single word of her inner thoughts from the little white duck this time.

Could it really be a silly bird with an empty head?! Xi Xi couldn't help but be a little distracted.

Unaware of its owner's thoughts, the little white duck simply flew forward quietly, its wings fluttering gently. Occasionally, it would slow down slightly when it encountered a fork in the road in the sewer, as if contemplating which path to choose to continue.

"Ignore these forks in the road and fly in the direction the water is flowing!" Xi Xi silently recited the order to the little white duck. "If there are any turns or unusual terrain, you can fly slower."

The little white duck, which had been flying leisurely, trembled, seemingly startled by Xi Xi's sudden voice.

"Don't be afraid, it's me," Xi Xi whispered to herself, reassuringly. "I'll make you a special meal when you get back!"

After hearing these words, the little white duck seemed to gradually recover from its fright.

It first cautiously looked back, tilting its head as if it had many questions. Then, as if it had been injected with chicken blood, it excitedly flapped its wings, and its speed was obviously much faster than before.

As the little white duck struggled to fly forward, it also cautiously glanced around at its surroundings out of the corner of its eye.

Occasionally, it will also flexibly adjust its flight altitude to cleverly avoid the icy water droplets dripping from the top.

However, at that moment, through the little white duck's perspective, Xi Xi discovered a very peculiar object not far ahead.

The object looked strangely shaped and exuded a mysterious aura. Upon seeing it, Xi Xi involuntarily frowned.

Deep within the dark, deep waterway, a colossal stone statue stands silently in the water.

This stone statue is several meters tall, as if it grew out of the depths of the earth, giving people a sense of solemnity and awe.

It appears to be meticulously carved from incredibly hard rock, and after the passage of time, its surface has been eroded and mottled, yet it remains completely intact.

The statue's face is indistinct, and judging from its outline, it seems somewhat similar to the water monster in the instance, but it is completely different.

The similarity is that it also has many slender tentacles, but compared to the others, this statue appears much thinner.

Upon closer inspection, Xi Xi discovered that each tentacle seemed to be intricately carved with extremely fine patterns, which intertwined with the moss, covering most of its original appearance.

Sewage from the sewers was flowing rapidly around the stone statue.
