Chapter 172 The Eye of Purification

Xi Xi went to the fish king's protruding back again and flipped it over.

She walked to the fish head and tentatively placed the fish eyeball, which emitted a faint green light, into the empty eye socket.

Just as the fish's eyeball touched its eye socket, a dazzling green light flashed, followed by a sticky sound.

Fresh flesh and blood regrowed from the fish's eye sockets at a visible speed, spreading rapidly and tightly enveloping the eyeballs like a soft protective film.

In the blink of an eye, the fish's eyes were completely restored to their original state, as if they had never been damaged at all.

Just as Xi Xi was still immersed in the shock of the amazing scene before her eyes, she suddenly heard her mother's exclamation from not far away.

She snapped out of her daze and hurriedly turned to look around. Only then did Xi Xi realize with astonishment that the black sewage in the drain was undergoing a startling transformation.

The sewage, which was originally murky and smelly, gradually began to become clear and transparent!

The filth that was constantly churning and surging in the water vanished into nothingness under the green light.

As time went by, the damp, musty smell in the air gradually dissipated, replaced by a fresh and pleasant earthy scent and a faint fragrance of flowers and grass.

The sewer system has been completely renovated, resembling a beautiful stream hidden underground, flowing gently and making a clear, pleasant sound.

The surrounding environment seemed to have undergone a complete baptism and purification, and even the dark and deep tunnel seemed to have become much brighter.

Xi Xi couldn't help but look at the black goldfish king in front of her with some surprise.

This guy is jet black and rough-looking, with gold-plated fins, giving him the appearance of a sewer boss.

However, it was not an evil boss at all, but a "good" fish that was responsible for purifying the water source.

Just then, the enormous black and gold creature suddenly thrashed its huge tail violently, as if it had finally awakened from the excruciating pain of the electric shock after a life-or-death struggle.

"Should we put it back in the water?" Chu Zhiqin asked softly, looking puzzled.

Xi Xi stared intently at the fish's wide-open eyes and slightly agape mouth, equally puzzled.

For some reason, a strange intuition told her that the fish seemed to want to say something to them... So, without saying a word, Xi Xi brought over Aura.

As soon as Aura heard about "fish," she was wide awake!

The black and white cat, who had been peacefully napping in the carriage, suddenly perked up. It opened its sleepy eyes, straightened up with a start, and happily followed Xi Xi off the train.

However, when Aura saw the enormous steel fish with its hideous face and enormous size, its steps came to an abrupt halt as if it had been frozen in place.

"Farewell." Aura walked away with elegant steps, without looking back.

Xi Xi had no choice but to chase after it. She nimbly grabbed the black and white cat by the scruff of its neck and pulled it back. Then, gritting her teeth, she whispered in its ear, "Translation complete, reward awaits..."

Aura then reluctantly approached the fish's mouth.

"Hmm, hmm...you go ahead." Aura raised her paw and placed it on the fish's head, meowing as she communicated with Xi Xi telepathically.

Sallyman and Xi's mother were filled with incomprehension. They couldn't hear Aura's thoughts, only the little black and white cat meowing. Xi Xi seemed like a heartless contractor forcing the poor kitten to work.

"Will this... will this work?" Xi's mother looked at Xi with some doubt.

Xi Xi then realized that she hadn't mentioned the synesthetic chain ring to Ms. Chu, so she made a "don't worry" expression to reassure her mother.

"...Feeling nauseous? Stomach ache?" Aura approached the fish's mouth with some doubt and sniffed. Then her expression hardened, and without saying a word, she began to frantically paw at the ground with her two front paws.

This time, not only Xi Xi, but Chu Zhiqin also understood that kittens only bury their poop in the ground when they smell an unpleasant odor.

"There's something in the fish's mouth?" Sallyman understood the cow cat's actions. Cats and dogs have a keen sense of smell and can easily detect details that humans might miss.

Thinking this, she stepped forward, wanting to find out what was going on. She saw that the mouth of the big fish was a dark hole, as if it were bottomless.

However, at this moment, Xi Xi walked to the cow cat with a slightly puzzled look on her face. She first carefully examined the little guy, and then reached into her golden lucky bag.

Before long, Xi Xi took out the moss-covered key from it.

Xi Xi hung the moss-covered key on the fishhook, then, holding the hook, she slowly approached the fish's mouth.

Strangely enough, the black and gold fish king, which had been quiet and still, seemed to suddenly smell the unique scent emanating from the moss on the key. In an instant, it opened its blood-red maw and swallowed the entire key without hesitation.

In the brief instant after the key was swallowed, the fishing line seemed to be pulled tightly and instantly became taut.

Xi Xi immediately felt a strong suction force coming from her hand. She subconsciously gripped the fishing rod tightly and leaned back.

Then came a fierce, rapid tug. Xi Xi gritted her teeth and used all her strength to resist the force. Finally, she managed to pull a sac that emitted a pungent odor out of the fish's belly.

"Ugh—" Aura couldn't take it anymore and scurried up onto the roof of the car.

The black and gold fish king then flipped over like a carp and instantly disappeared into the underground river.

The three looked at each other, bewildered. What had they accomplished?

In an instant, the once quiet, peaceful, and crystal-clear water suddenly became turbulent.

Suddenly, the enormous fish king leaped high into the air from the river, its massive body creating countless sparkling water droplets, like a grand water feast unfolding in the sky.

These water droplets fell in a flurry, forming a beautiful and spectacular water curtain.

At the same time, it was as if an invisible hand had opened the valve on the sewer river, and the water level began to slowly drop.

As the water flow gradually decreases, the riverbed can be observed through the remaining water.

A deafening clattering sound filled the tunnel, echoing as stones collided and shifted. Then, silence returned.

Chu Zhiqin asked with a slightly puzzled tone, "That sound just now... it sounded like it was coming from the stone statue?"

As soon as she finished speaking, the three of them turned around at the same time, their eyes falling on the bend in the sewer. The next second, a game notification sound rang out.
