Hidden behind the branches and leaves, she watched nervously as the tentacle continued to glide freely through the air.
The tentacle, like a nimble giant python, drew several strange arcs in the air before slowly retracting back into the water.
Xi Xi's heart began to race, but she quickly calmed down and began to think of a solution.
She wondered to herself: What kind of mysterious creature is this? She had never heard of such a strange being before!
Filled with fear and doubt, she carefully crouched down and quietly moved slowly to the side, then quickly climbed up a tree that wasn't too tall.
As she crouched among the tree branches, she spotted a bird's nest hidden among the leaves. On a sudden impulse, she pulled out a small bird's egg and smashed it hard into the center of the water.
As the bird eggs entered the water, ripples instantly spread across the once calm surface. In the blink of an eye, the terrifying tentacles burst forth from the water once more, leaping high into the air with astonishing speed!
At the same time, a huge wave crashed onto the shore of the pond, and then an unusually large monster slowly rose from the water.
This monster's body was both as flexible and supple as an octopus, and as heavy and imposing as an elephant. Its grotesque and twisted body was terrifying, covered with a wet, sticky skin covered with countless disgusting bumps, as if countless tiny life forms were wriggling on it, revealing endless ferocity and murderous intent.
"Goodness, thank goodness I didn't drink this spring water..." Xi Xi silently criticized the game's item recognition function. This water monster's bathwater could actually be indicated as drinkable?
That's so unethical!
With a dark cloud hanging over her brow, Xi Xi held her breath and stared at the enormous object not far away.
Three thick, powerful tentacles extended from the water monster's body, each one exceptionally strong and capable of effortlessly generating gusts of wind.
These tentacles resemble elephant trunks on the surface, but their undersides are covered with hard suckers, as if a mere touch could tear a person to shreds. They also extend, contract, and twist from time to time, seemingly searching for the right moment to launch a fatal attack.
It seems impossible to confront them head-on. If you can't win, then run!
As Xi Xi was thinking about how to retreat and escape, something caught her hair. She groaned in pain and swung her hand, hitting something alive. Out of the corner of her eye, she realized that it was a small bird struggling to tug at her hair.
Xi Xi then realized that, without her noticing, the number of birds in the sky had been increasing.
"No way..." Xi Xi suddenly felt something was wrong. She had only taken one bird egg, but there were still several left.
Xi Xi felt a pang of guilt. She peered through the gaps in the leaves and saw that one of the birds seemed to possess extraordinary insight. Its sharp gaze instantly spotted Xi Xi's hiding place.
The man and the bird, unwittingly, locked eyes. In an instant, the bird's black eyes turned red, and it circled the flock a few times, as if conveying some kind of signal.
Immediately afterwards, a huge flock of dark birds with bright red eyes swooped down like a dark cloud towards where Xi Xi was hiding.
"What the hell? Just one look and it turns into a hostile creature?" Xi Xi felt no remorse at all, and was even a little annoyed.
Without the slightest hesitation, she instantly drew the gleaming purple scythe from her waist, and with a swift swing of her arm, unleashed a frenzied attack in all directions.
Sharp streaks of light flashed through the air, carrying boundless killing intent, and branches, leaves, and feathers fell. A mournful cry instantly echoed from the flock of birds.
The loud cry pierced her eardrums, and Xi Xi's heart sank. A sixth sense arose, and she thought to herself, "This is bad." With lightning speed, she grabbed a thick vine with one hand, jumped down, swung in the air in a crescent moon shape, and then decisively let go, curled up into a ball, and rolled rapidly into the grass on the side.
Just as she rolled away, a loud "bang" was heard, and the monster's extended giant tentacles mercilessly crashed down, ruthlessly destroying the tree she had just been standing on.
The once lush and vibrant greenery was instantly flattened. Branches and leaves were broken, a scene of utter chaos, and even plumes of smoke were rising from it.
A burnt smell spread out, and Xi Xi's heart tightened. She immediately turned to look at the pond, and just as she expected, the small fish in the pond had been washed ashore. They were weakly flapping their fins and their bellies were white.
"This water monster can generate electricity!" Xi Xi was shocked and immediately got up and ran away from the pond.
Soaked to the bone, Xi Xi felt quite heavy. Barefoot, she kept looking back. As she walked quickly, sharp pebbles pricked the soles of her feet, but she paid no heed. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the birds that had been electrocuted by the tentacles, their feathers falling off like snowflakes, a pitiful sight.
The increasingly shrill cries echoed in my ears, rising and falling, sending chills down my spine.
However, the water monster seems to have inadvertently diverted the birds' hatred from her.
Xi Xi stopped in her tracks. She looked back and saw the flock of ducks returning from foraging on the bank fleeing in panic along the stream. She saw butterflies still fluttering among the flowers, unafraid of danger. But for some reason, the water monster was oblivious to everything else, repeatedly whipping in one area, as if the louder the birds cried, the harder the whipping of its tentacles would strike.
Could this water monster detect threats by sound? Xi Xi couldn't help but wonder.
In her haste, Xi Xi glanced at the pond. As the water monster moved, splashes of water rose and fell, creating whirlpools.
