About an hour ago, everything was normal. Cheng Xu's family had replaced the charcoal in their stove and were frantically trying to stop Aura from burning its fur while it was warming itself by the fire.
As a result, the angry Ola suddenly did something big, forcing Cheng Xu to take on the role of temporary cat caretaker. He carried the bag and the rest of the trash, enduring the chill as he got out of the car.
However, at that moment, two modified snowmobiles formed a pincer movement, their welded ice plows gleaming coldly as they shoveled snow from the road, sending it flying everywhere—his RV was now surrounded.
Not only that, three motorcycles drove up from the front one after another, leaving half-meter-long white marks on the ice, which frightened Cheng Xu so much that he hid behind the electrical meter box next to the street lamp.
"Danger!" He sent a message to the team list with trembling hands, trying to warn his parents. But before the message reached them, a metallic tearing sound came from the rear of the car.
The entire vehicle was hooked to the chassis by the snowmobile's steel cable, and the chain winch made a teeth-grinding creaking sound as it turned.
Even from a distance, Cheng Xu could clearly hear the cargo falling from the RV and the sizzling of embers hitting the windows.
A somewhat familiar voice came from the window of the enemy vehicle, sounding smug: "Brother Cheng, we won't stand on ceremony and will take your vehicle!"
The other party raised his hand and swung an axe, splitting open the car door, and shards of glass rained down on the ice.
After the group swaggered into the car, Cheng Xu slowly moved into the darkness, avoiding the direct sunlight from the streetlights.
Several burly men rushed in first, and Aura, who was curled up next to the overturned stove, suddenly bristled and jumped up onto the top of the storage cabinet.
"Heh, there's a little bastard here. Looks like they're living quite well," Miyano said, stepping into the carriage in snow boots and looking around.
And following behind him was none other than Xi Zhantao, who was all smiles and eager to please!
“Mr. Miyano, I told you I was right. My son has excellent eyesight. He saw this RV when he was out on a mission with the supply team during the day and knew it wasn’t far from us!”
Miyano ignored the old man behind him. How could a mere low-ranking member know better than he, the leader of the reconnaissance team, what kind of vehicles were around the organization?
He just happened to need an excuse to seize the supplies for his own use, and this idea just happened to be brought up by Xi Yunchen and his son.
"Keep an eye on those two." Gong Ye stared contemptuously at Cheng's parents, who were being pinned to the ground by the burly team members, and then gave Xi Zhantao the order, "Go and take inventory of the supplies, but don't make a sound."
How could he not know the father and son's eagerness to make a name for themselves? However, he also had his own considerations. If the plan to transfer the supplies was exposed, he needed a scapegoat as a backup plan, and Rui Xiaomin and these brainless people were the perfect candidates.
Upon hearing the words "don't make a fuss," Xi Zhantao's eyes lit up and he immediately perked up. In TV dramas, this kind of slang usually means that there will be a big windfall after the spoils are divided. It seems that he can have a more comfortable time after tonight!
Thinking this, he happily took the axe assigned by the organization and smashed open the locker, but Aura suddenly jumped down and scratched his face with her claws.
Suppressing the pain, Xi Zhantao viciously grabbed the cat by the scruff of its neck. Such plump cat meat must taste delicious; he licked his chapped lips and, amidst Aura's piercing screams, raised his axe.
"Without orders from above, capture them alive and bring them back." Gong Ye coldly glanced at Xi Zhantao.
Xi Zhantao then realized that the organization's leader was rumored to have a special skill called "Anti-Evil," which could "take lives with evil." He couldn't act rashly.
He looked at the black cat in his hand with some regret, and for some reason, he felt that the black cat looked somewhat familiar.
"The Yamato Guard, I've heard so much about you! Please see if you're missing anything, I'll give you everything I can..." Cheng's father, who was prostrate on the ground, suddenly spoke up, interrupting Xi Zhantao's train of thought.
With the disparity in strength between the two sides, Cheng's father could only remain still and listen to the conversation between the bandits. After hearing the Japanese language and Xi Zhantao's familiar voice, he was able to guess the origins of the bandits.
He knew that everything had its priorities, and problems that could be solved with money shouldn't be wasted on words. However, he never expected that the other party would completely ignore his negotiations, kick him hard in the back, and push him to the ground again.
When Cheng's father's knee hit the ice, it made a dull thud like a ripe watermelon hitting the ground. His palm, braced against the frozen diesel fuel, was crushed by a tattered sneaker.
He trembled with pain, groaned, and glanced up, only to find that the man was missing a finger—it was Xi Xi's cousin, Xi Yunchen.
Cheng's father, his back hunched, plunged his fingers, frozen black and purple, into the snowdrift.
"Didn't you old man used to be so good at lecturing Xi Xi and her slutty mother and daughter? Why are you speechless now? Come on, bark like a dog!" Xi Yunchen sneered and stomped hard on Cheng's father's shoulder blade.
Suddenly, Cheng's father coughed violently, curled up like a shrimp and deliberately rubbed against Xi Yunchen's feet, his right hand secretly reaching for his waist.
Just as Xi Yunchen bent down to grab his hair, Cheng's father suddenly pulled out a steel blade.
The sharp steel knife gleamed with a cold, eerie blue light, its blade plunging viciously towards Xi Yunchen's heart.
Unfortunately, the sudden swing of the iron chain wrapped around Cheng's father's wrist, causing the steel knife to veer off course and inadvertently cut a shallow gash on Xi Yunchen's upper arm.
The next second, Cheng's father was trampled hard into the snow, and a few unintelligible words of Japanese language rang out above him.
"Keep an eye on him, and that woman too." Gong Ye got out of the car, holding a stack of talismans in his hand, which he had just snatched from Cheng Ma and were still warm. "Give me a thorough search."
