Chapter 353 The Coward

Watching the pawns fall one after another, Valerie's lips curled into a smile. Having tasted power for the first time, she was unable to resist.

She looked at the jade ring on her hand, a cultural relic that became the perfect stepping stone for her to clear her name and rise to power.

Tristan's death was...perfectly timed.

Thinking of this, Valerie didn't even bother to pay attention to her subordinates' questions about the diving suit anymore; after all, it wouldn't be her who would die in the charge.

Her commands were decisive, tinged with a cruel satisfaction. In her view, all the anomalies had a rational explanation:

The one hiding in the RV and using a shield must be Xi Xi.

The shielding talisman comes at the cost of overdrawing the day's luck, which is extremely dangerous. It should never be used unless it is in an extremely urgent situation.

A madman who dares to run rampant even after losing his luck; Valerie has only ever seen one such person so far: Team Z's captain, Choi Quan.

But Cui Quan died in the end, didn't he? He even took the entire Z team with him.

Valerie firmly believed from the beginning that casting the shield was not a selfish act, that Tristan saw it as a bargaining chip, and that her luck had run out, which was why she inexplicably became the unlucky one chosen by hypnosis. She had no intention of sacrificing herself for Clinton.

The X11 RV is parked here, but Xi Xi has been hesitant to show herself, which is the best proof of that!

"Valerie, you're not the captain, you have no right to order people around!" A red-haired, white-haired man rushed forward and grabbed Valerie's arm. "You have absolutely no strategy... Look at what you've done! You should know that the most important order to give right now is to evacuate! Evacuate as soon as possible!"

Upon hearing this, Valerie gave him a disdainful look; she had the utmost contempt for cowardly men who only knew how to give orders to women.

She casually tugged at the rank badge on his chest, as if to say: You have no right to lecture me.

Clearly, the middle-aged man who could use hypnosis was X11's last trump card. Valerie thought to herself, if she could take down this key man, she could rush into the RV without any hesitation and trample on Xi Xi mercilessly.

As the pursuit route became more remote, the main force gradually drifted away from where the vehicles were parked, meaning that the long-range arrows inside the X11 RV could no longer pose a threat to Clinton's troops.

Valerie was initially worried that the RV would chase after them, but upon closer inspection, she discovered that the RV was actually driving itself, towing several Clinton submarines that were bound together with binding charms.

"You've run out of tricks." Valerie scoffed. What a childish tactic.

The observers and pilots who remained at Clinton were no ordinary people, and those submarines had been specially modified. Even if Xi Xi had many different kinds of arrows, she would never be able to penetrate their defenses. Not to mention that as long as they didn't die, the submarines would not become unclaimed vehicles.

What's the point of seizing a vehicle with an owner at this point?

Valerie, certain of her judgment and now with a leader in her heart, began to shout again.

Her judgment and the promised "generous reward" acted like a shot in the arm, instantly dispelling the team's last hesitation, and the squad's firepower suddenly became more concentrated and frenzied.

However, the middle-aged man was extremely agile, and with various mutated fish vying for attention and attacking mid-flight, the group was unable to concentrate on a targeted attack.

Sizzle! Buzz! Various ranged attacks rained down in front of them like a storm, killing instantly, seemingly within the next second!

Valerie's eyes gleamed with a fiery, almost manic light, while the middle-aged man suddenly stopped his swimming.

"Kill! Leave no survivors!" Valerie screamed excitedly, waving her arm to signal everyone to charge forward.

However, at this moment, an unexpected event occurred—

A deep, almost imperceptible tremor, yet seemingly affecting the very soul, spread out without warning throughout the deep sea.

It wasn't a sound, but more like a sigh from space itself. The seawater seemed to freeze for a moment, and the light distorted inexplicably, as if observing the world through a thick, heated, and swaying pane of glass.

Valerie felt a sudden lightness in her body, as if she had been gripped, pulled, and then... thrown by an invisible giant hand!

The light and shadows before her eyes spun, stretched, and tore apart wildly, and a tremendous sense of dizziness assaulted her consciousness like a tsunami.

One moment he was a middle-aged man, precarious and scrambling about, the next he was replaced by a blinding, despairing crimson!

Countless enormous red corals, resembling congealed blood, twist and coil, casting an ominous dark red hue on the light, as if the entire sea were immersed in a giant pool of blood.

"Ugh...!"

"My hands! My face! Ahhhhhh!"

"What's going on?! Where are we?! Something's burning me! Help!"

Before the intense dizziness had completely subsided, Valerie felt a sharp pain.

It wasn't a direct cut or impact, but rather like countless red-hot iron wires tightly wrapped around and embedded in her skin, sending sharp, intensifying burning sensations through the tough, special fibers of the advanced diving suit!

A piercing scream, so shrill it was inhuman, erupted simultaneously on the communication channel and in this eerie sea area!

Valerie whirled around. The nearest team member was a burly white cleanup worker. He was frantically tearing at the connection between his helmet and wetsuit, as if trying to scratch something.

But through his tattered helmet visor, Valerie could clearly see that the skin on his bearded face was turning red and swollen at a visible speed, and then, as if it had been splashed with strong acid, it began to dissolve and fester in large patches.
