Chapter 47 Desert Canyon

Without saying a word, Xi Xi used the night vision talisman.

In an instant, the talisman, like a light, glowing butterfly, drifted gracefully into the deep night sky.

As the talisman ascended into the air and ignited, countless sparks scattered and burst forth, like dazzling stars adorning the night sky, illuminating this pitch-black world.

In an instant, the pitch-black night seemed to have been torn open, and bright light poured down, not as bright as daytime, but comparable to the afterglow of dusk.

With the sudden light, the scene before Xi Xi's eyes became clear, especially the winding, deep, and unfathomable canyon, which was now displayed before her without reservation.

Xi Xi turned off her headlamp and turned her gaze back into the depths of the canyon.

The black hole that was once unfathomable now seems much closer.

According to the pixel map, the treasure chest appears to be hidden in the crevice of this canyon.

Whether or not to expend the effort to obtain this treasure chest became a difficult decision facing Xi Xi.

If you go through all that trouble only to get a regular beginner treasure chest, it seems like a bad deal.

Thinking about it this way, Xi Xi couldn't help but frown slightly, falling into hesitation.

However, she did not stop, continuing to walk slowly along the edge of the canyon, carefully searching for a path.

When Xi Xi arrived at the location marked by the treasure chest, she carefully observed it and found that the ground was indeed barren and empty, so she was quite certain that the treasure chest must be hidden deep underground.

She sighed, turned and walked back. Every now and then, a few small stones would be kicked off by her unintentionally, rolling down the steep rock wall into the bottom of the canyon with a dull echo.

Suddenly, with a "plop," a pebble fell down, but this time the sound seemed somewhat unusual.

Xi Xi was slightly taken aback, a hint of doubt rising in her heart. She quickly looked down at the deep, dark bottom of the canyon.

It wasn't clear to the naked eye, but Xi Xi turned on the light screen camera without hesitation.

She stared intently, and saw what appeared to be a layer of faint water ripples gently floating deep within the canyon.

Xi Xi paused for a moment, then casually tossed another pebble in.

Sure enough, the pebble created ripples as soon as it hit the water, which spread outwards in concentric circles.

Even Xi Xi was shocked for a moment. She never expected that there would be a water source hidden beneath this seemingly dry and desolate canyon!

In an instant, countless thoughts flooded his mind. Xi Xi felt that if this water source was drinkable, it would undoubtedly be a huge business opportunity.

Her heart began to race. After a brief moment of thought and deliberation, she finally made up her mind to risk everything and find out for herself.

According to the pixel map, Xi Xi first found the canyon area closest to the treasure chest, then compared the steepness of the sandstone and found the most suitable place to climb.

To avoid getting them wet, Xi Xi took out a stack of talismans from her pocket and put them into the waterproof layer of her backpack for safekeeping.

Then, she used the same trick again, putting the light, feathery gloves over her shoes like shoe covers.

After making these preparations, Xi Xi took a deep breath, gripped the rock wall tightly with both hands, stepped on the protruding parts of the rocks, and slowly descended to the bottom of the canyon step by step.

To prevent her feet from slipping, Xi Xi carefully tested the ground with each step to avoid shifting her weight incorrectly.

With plenty of energy tonight, these climbs were effortless for Xi Xi.

Before long, Xi Xi successfully reached the bottom of the valley. The moment her feet stepped into the canyon water, Xi Xi felt a bone-chilling cold suddenly strike her, as if thousands of ice needles were piercing her bone marrow at the same time.

The already chilly night air, combined with the damp atmosphere unique to the valley, made her shiver involuntarily.

The canyon was much deeper than she had expected. As she stepped in, the water level rose and soon reached her waist, completely soaking her lower body.

Fortunately, I was wearing light feather gloves, which prevented the soles of my shoes from leaking.

Despite having night vision, the light at the bottom of the canyon was still unusually dim, and she could only barely make out the outlines of the surrounding scenery.

Xi Xi endured the biting cold and reached out to turn on her headlamp again.

She frowned as the searchlight beam shone down.

The pool of water in the canyon before us looked like a stagnant pool, lifeless and filled with a lot of mud and sand, making it extremely murky.

Xi Xi scooped up some water with her hands, and sure enough, the familiar system notification sound came to her ears.

[Item Hint: Stagnant, murky water (not potable)]

She shook her head helplessly, then poured out all the water she was holding.

However, adhering to the principle of "since we're already here," Xi Xi did not back down and resolutely waded through the water towards the location of the treasure chest.

The biting cold penetrated Xi Xi's thick clothes, reaching straight to her bone marrow.

The stagnant water in the canyon was so cold it seemed to freeze time. Every inch of skin trembled under the icy onslaught, leaving behind numbness and indescribable pain.

"We're almost there..." Xi Xi comforted herself, gritting her teeth as she resisted the resistance of the water.

Whether it was thanks to the fragment of Thoth's feather she had obtained before, or the 6-point increase in her constitution, Xi Xi felt that her adaptability and endurance had increased considerably.

Thinking this, Xi Xi turned sideways and stepped over one narrow canyon crevice after another.

Along the way, she saw many mosses and shrubs growing in the sandstone, tenaciously rooted and drawing water from the soil, which strengthened her resolve.

However, Xi Xi did not expect that the next corner would be a dead end, with an enormous rock forming an insurmountable wall that completely blocked the way ahead.

"This is impossible!" Xi Xi exclaimed in disbelief as she looked at the map. The map clearly showed the treasure chest was just ahead, and there was only one path to take. How could it not work?

She pondered for a long time, a dark cloud hanging over her brow. Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind: Could it be that there is a passage hidden in this water?

Once the idea surfaced, it quickly took over her entire mind like wildfire.

Despite lingering doubts, there seemed to be no other option at the moment.

Xi Xi took a deep breath, gritted her teeth, held her breath, and then plunged into the murky water.
