Chapter 8 8L: Happy to hear

Ning Wenru is very excited today.

After many debugging, improvement and revision, he finally finished the patent application materials and successfully submitted them. Ning Wenru had a big thing on his mind, and his inspiration for writing was also flying. He had a lot of ideas, and the robot used for the competition was almost completed, so Ning Wenru was smiling happily on the way back to school.

But when Ning Wenru returned to the dormitory, he saw Pang Zaiyuan still sitting in front of his computer. When he heard that he was back, Pang Zaiyuan turned his head suddenly and looked at him with a very indescribable expression, one of shock and confusion, in short, a very strange expression.

Ning Wenru was puzzled when he saw Pang Zaiyuan like this, but he didn't try to understand and just asked, "Have we successfully registered for the elective course?"

Pang Zaiyuan nodded slightly, moved his hands, then made way, adjusted his expression back to normal, and said, "I have reported it. I have reported the wisdom of the Tao Te Ching that you wanted."

Ning Wenru was even happier: "That's good, double happiness! What about you? What did you report?"

Pang Zaiyuan sat across from Ning Wenru's desk and answered woodenly, "I applied for a job related to human resources management." Ning Wenru saw Pang Zaiyuan was silent for a while, and then heard him ask, "You look very happy today? What's the double happiness?"

Ning Wenru smiled and said, "Because the patent materials have been submitted, the robot is almost ready. It should be almost done when the teacher comes to take a look tomorrow. I have also signed up for the elective courses I want. If the patent application is successful, it will be a triple blessing."

Pang Zaiyuan hesitated for words, and finally said, "Congratulations."

Ning Wenru nodded and ignored Pang Zaiyuan's weird behavior. Time was running out, so he moved his computer to the bed and started typing, continuing to write the story about his laboratory and teacher. A shy smile appeared on his face from time to time, and he didn't notice that Pang Zaiyuan's expression had become even weirder.

After writing for a while, Ning Wenru suddenly heard Pang Zaiyuan ask, "You often stay overnight in the laboratory. Does your tutor also stay with you?"

Ning Wenru replied while typing: "No, the teacher is very busy, and it's basically me and my classmates who are staying up late."

After a while, I heard Pang Zaiyuan asking again: "Can you bear this every day?"

Ning Wenru paused, looked at Pang Zaiyuan strangely, and then replied, "It's normal. When I first entered school, I saw my senior brothers doing this all the time. Maybe it's because I'm young. When I do something I like, I'm always very energetic. I forget to sleep and eat while doing it."

Pang Zaiyuan's eyes became more and more strange and difficult to describe. He stared at Ning Wenru for a long time, and finally turned his face away and stopped looking at him.

Ning Wenru blinked and added, "Besides, I'll just stay up for a while. I won't stay up late after I finish making the robot for the competition. Do I look haggard now?"

Pang Zaiyuan said "No", then turned on the computer, as if he was looking at something, and had no intention of talking to Ning Wenru. Ning Wenru occasionally glanced at him and found that Pang Zaiyuan looked very surprised. After a while, he heard the sound of Pang Zaiyuan entering the bathroom.

It was not until noon that Ning Wenru finished typing this short essay and was about to go to the bathroom, but he found that Pang Zaiyuan was still in there, as if he had not come out all morning.

Could it be that he was dizzy? Ning Wenru put down his computer, knocked on the door, and asked, "Zaiyuan, it's been the whole morning, are you okay?"

Pang Zaiyuan's hoarse voice came from the bathroom: "It's okay."

"Really? Do you want to call a doctor?" Ning Wenru asked.

Ning Wenru seemed to hear a faint gasp, and then heard Pang Zaiyuan's answer: "It's okay."

Ning Wenru looked at his phone and insisted, "I was writing and forgot the time. It's been more than three hours! You seem to have been here all the time. Are you constipated? Are your legs okay? Do you want me to help you?"

"…It's really okay. It will be fine in a moment. Bring me some food."

"Well... okay, I'm going to the cafeteria. Call me if you have anything." Ning Wenru said.

"Hmm." Pang Zaiyuan responded briefly.

Ning Wenru pondered for a moment, and after hearing the short and weak voice, he guessed that Pang Zaiyuan might be constipated or suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. He went to buy some medicine first, then went to the cafeteria to buy porridge for Pang Zaiyuan before returning to the dormitory.

When Ning Wenru returned to the dormitory, Pang Zaiyuan had already come out of the bathroom. Ning Wenru observed Pang Zaiyuan carefully and saw that he looked fine, no different from usual, and did not look sick, so he felt relieved.

Putting the medicine and porridge he had just bought on the table, Ning Wenru said to Pang Zaiyuan, "This is for diarrhea, this is for constipation, and there are some emergency medicines. Take whichever you need. Or do you have a stomach disease? Although you look fine, if you really feel uncomfortable, why don't you go see a doctor? It's quite cheap to see a school doctor."

Pang Zaiyuan looked at Ning Wenru with a complicated look, pursed his lips, took a deep breath, and said, "It's okay. You—went out to buy medicine for me? So much?"

Ning Wenru replied, "Don't be so stubborn. Take the medicine when you need it. These medicines are for emergency use. The previous ones seem to be about to expire. I bought them now to be on the safe side. Anyone in the dormitory who needs them can use them."

"Oh," Pang Zaiyuan stared at Ning Wenru for a long time before saying, "I'm really fine. Isn't your robot not finished yet? Don't you have to go to the laboratory to listen to the teacher's instructions this afternoon? Where's your meal? Haven't you bought it yet? Go eat, don't worry about me."

After asking three questions in a row, Ning Wenru could tell that Pang Zaiyuan didn't want him to be there. But Ning Wenru was still worried, so he touched his forehead again to make sure he didn't have a fever, and to make sure Pang Zaiyuan wasn't being stubborn and didn't want to be helped. Ning Wenru didn't force it, and said, "Okay, I'm just worried that you've just arrived, and your former classmates have all graduated and left, so there's no one to take care of you here. If you have anything, call me and I'll come right over."

Pang Zaiyuan nodded, stared at the bowl of hot porridge that Ning Wenru packed for him for a long time, and finally raised his head to drink.
