Chapter 1 My name is Joey Brown

"Bang bang bang..."

The urgent knocking caused the already fragile wooden house to shake violently.

"Who is it? I'm busy right now!"

A young man's voice came from inside the wooden house, sounding somewhat impatient.

"Joey, it's me. I've found a great job and I was thinking of asking you to come with me!"

A gruff voice rang out from outside the door.

"The bearded man?"

The young man inside muttered something, and then the sound of him getting up could be heard.

"Could you please stop calling me Big Beard? I've been wanting you to call me by my name, Sam Blackstone. You can try calling me that first!"

The gruff voice continued.

"Okay, Bearded Man!"

"Thank you!"

"You're welcome, Big Beard!"

As the wooden floorboards creaked underfoot, the wooden door was opened.

An ordinary-looking human youth poked his head out and grinned at a Blackstone dwarf standing at the door.

"Thank you very much, Joey!"

After speaking, the unusually robust dwarf prepared to push the door open and enter.

"Wait a moment, there's a lady inside getting dressed, it's not appropriate for you to come in now!"

The human youth named Joey blocked the door and gave an apologetic smile.

"I'm sorry to bother you!"

The bearded man quickly apologized.

"It's not really a disturbance. I've only just climbed to the top with both hands, and I haven't even had a chance to take a good look at the scenery yet!"

Joey was still somewhat unsatisfied, but by then he had lost interest.

"Is it the same person from yesterday?"

The bearded man quickly took a few steps back and asked in a low voice.

"You mean Freya?"

"I don't know her name, she's the one who likes to wear a pink headscarf!"

"That's Frizzy! But the person in the house now isn't her; it's Fran, her sister!"

"My God, Joey, I really admire you! You change lovers so fast!"

"Hey, hey, hey, you can't say that! How can you call it changing lovers? I still love Frizzy, I've given her my true feelings!"

"Ah? My Joey, you really are the person I swore to follow for the rest of my life. There are so many things I can learn from you!"

"Then you can learn at your own pace!"

After saying this, Joey began to ponder it in his heart.

"I'm a transmigrator, after all. I've already embarrassed my fellow transmigrators enough by ending up like this. If I can't even pick up a few girls, then I've really wasted my time transmigrating!"

"Fortunately, this other world isn't at its T0 level yet, and the fairies haven't become an overabundance. Otherwise, even if I, a penniless human farmer, were willing to invest my feelings, probably very few would be willing to pay attention to me!"

"Joey!"

A gentle female voice came from inside the house.

"What's wrong, darling?"

Joey gave the bearded man a look and then closed the door again.

"Help me tie the rope behind my back, I can't quite reach it!"

"Okay, coming right away!"

A few minutes later, the loose wooden floorboards creaked again.

The wooden door opened again, and a very fair-skinned girl walked out of the house.

"Then I'm leaving!"

The girl looked back at Joey, who was still at the door, and said reluctantly.

"Okay, I'll come see you again tonight when I'm free!"

Joey's eyes were filled with love as he looked at the girl with tenderness.

Two blushes appeared on the girl's face. She glanced at the bearded man beside her, clearly displeased by his sudden visit.

She stopped talking, lifted her skirt, and jogged away.

"Big Beard, come in!"

Seeing that the girl had walked away, Joey immediately called the bearded man into the house.

The bearded man didn't linger any longer and went straight into the house, but the wooden floorboards under his feet creaked even louder, bearing a weight they shouldn't have to.

There was only a bed made of wooden planks in the room, and not even a stool. However, the bed was quite large, and it could probably sleep four or five people without any problem.

"Big Beard, don't be shy, just sit on the bed. I'll ask the landlord for a few more chairs another day, even though I've asked him several times already, and he hasn't given me a single one!"

"However, I believe that sincerity can move even the most obstructed mind, and he will eventually be moved by my sincerity!"

After Joey finished speaking, he lay back down on the bed, patted the empty seat next to him, and gestured for the bearded man to sit down.

The bearded man stepped over and was about to sit down when he smelled a strong scent of hormones.

"Uh... never mind, I'll just stand here, it won't take much time anyway!"

The bearded man looked a little embarrassed, and remembering the way the girl had looked at him earlier, he scratched his head and retreated.

"Then so be it!"

Joey didn't try to persuade him any further. He just lay on the bed with his legs dangling, waiting for the bearded man to speak.

"They need to build a bridge over the river behind the mountain, and they're hiring right now. It's two silver coins a day. Here's the application form, I brought it with me!"

After the bearded man finished speaking, he handed over a rolled-up registration form.

"Two silver coins a day, not bad!"

"Two coins a day, that's 60 coins a month. The rent is 20 silver coins a month, so I'll still have 40 left over. Life seems to have hope!"

Joey took the application form and carefully examined its contents, while also looking forward to a wonderful future.

His memories from his past life still made him cautious about these things. He didn't want to come to this strange world and become someone else's beast of burden before he could even enjoy his blessings.
