Chapter 111 Information Sharing

"Duro!"

The dark, damp dungeon felt even colder and more biting in the dead of winter.

At this moment, the voice of the city lord, Saril, appeared here.

"Lord City Lord, what I said was all..."

Duro still wanted to explain that he didn't want to die here, especially because of something that he considered completely unrelated to him.

"Shh!"

Sarriel walked to the edge of the cell and gestured for the dwarf to be quiet. The dwarf wisely kept silent.

"I'm giving you a task now. If you complete it successfully, you'll have a place in Sandstone City from now on!"

Sarriel's voice wasn't loud, but every word he said resonated in the dwarf's ears.

"Please give your orders, Lord City Lord, and I will do my utmost to fulfill them!"

The dwarf, mimicking Shariel, deliberately lowered his voice so that only the two of them could hear what he was saying.

Sariel seemed to think this wasn't secret enough, so he approached the cell and beckoned to the dwarf.

The dwarf immediately leaned closer, pressing his ear against the wooden stake in the cell.

"..."

Sarriel whispered in his ear.

The dwarf nodded slightly, and a smile gradually appeared on his lips.

After saying this, Shariel turned and left the dungeon.

After he left, a prison guard walked up to the dwarf's cell with a puzzled look, opened the cell door for him, and removed the dwarf's shackles.

The dwarf stretched his limbs and prepared to leave.

"Duro, what did the city lord just say to you? Why did he order you to be released so soon after locking you up?"

The dungeon guard was curious and couldn't help but ask a question.

"Hmph, you'll find out then!"

The dwarf kept everyone in suspense and quickly left the dungeon.

A few days later.

"Cartel!"

Camito stood outside the workshop; it was unclear what had brought him there today.

"Camito?"

"What brings you here today? Did you bring bad news again?"

Carter continued swinging his hammer, showing little emotional reaction to Camito's return.

"Heh, you're disappointed, there's no bad news this time!"

Camillo smiled and found a felt mat to sit on.

"I swear on my beard, you're definitely not here to say hello!"

Camillo continued swinging his hammer.

"Duro has left the city and hasn't returned for several days!"

"That dwarf who's been spying on the town's residents?"

"Yes!"

How did you know?

"Why do you think he came to me in the first place and asked me to come here to gather information?"

"You mean you two already had a regular relationship?"

"Um."

Carter didn't want to ask for details. He stopped swinging his hammer and looked intently at Camito.

"Where did he go? What was he doing out there?"

"I don't know about that, but I heard that he left on the orders of the city lord, and was released from the dungeon before leaving."

Camillo told everything he knew without holding anything back.

Released from the dungeon?

Carter was puzzled. Duro was clearly helping the city magistrate, so why was he imprisoned in the dungeon before leaving the city?

"The reason is unclear, but it happened a few days ago. After he returned to the city lord's mansion from the street, he was locked up!"

Camillo was also very curious as to why the dwarf had been imprisoned in the dungeon. He was certain of that; the dwarf was an incredibly loyal dog of the city lord.

"A few days ago?"

Carter suddenly remembered something, handed the hammer to Camito, and prepared to go out.

"Keep an eye on the workshop for me, I'll be right back!"

Where are you going?

"Tobacco Field!"

Cartel's figure had already disappeared into the distance.

Camillo returned to the workshop, weighed the hammer in his hand, and suddenly felt an itch to use it.

(Since Carter isn't here, I'll help him hammer some iron.)

At the entrance to the tobacco field.

"Who are you looking for? This isn't a place you can just wander into!"

The gatekeeper, somewhat impatient, reminded a dwarf who was knocking on the door.

"I'm looking for Joey, Joey Brown, a human!"

"Looking for Mr. Joey? Please come in!"

Upon hearing that the dwarf had come to see Joey, the gatekeeper's attitude immediately changed, becoming extremely enthusiastic.

Leaks had instructed him a few days ago that he must meet all of Mr. Joey's demands during this period to ensure that he wouldn't get angry.

"I'll take you there!"

The gatekeeper warmly led the way.

"Mr. Joey, someone is looking for you!"

Even from a distance, the gatekeeper shouted towards the entrance of the smelting furnace.

Hearing the commotion, Joey quickly came out as well. He had told the gatekeeper beforehand not to get too close to the smelting furnace.

"This smelting furnace has remained unchanged all these years!"

Seeing the smelting furnace he had built with his own hands and where he had spent so much time working after many years brought back a flood of memories for him, and the scenes from that time came to mind.

He just stood there, not rushing forward.

"Cartel!"

"Why are you here? Didn't you always say that too many people coming here isn't a good thing?"

Joey found it a bit strange that the person who came was Carter.

He stepped forward and casually gave the gatekeeper a few silver coins; he had been quite adept at dealing with people lately.

"You two keep chatting, I'll be going now!"

"Thank you, Mr. Joey!"

Knowing that his presence would disrupt their conversation, the gatekeeper tactfully took the money and left.

"Alright, now that everyone who's in the way is gone, can we talk now?"
