Joey, along with Catherine and the others, had reached the city gate; they planned to go find the spaceship now.
Karl and his people chose to stay, Captain Sauron prepared to return to Baron the next day to report to the king, while Carter and Camito also chose to remain in Sandstone, and their daughters both chose to leave.
In Camito's words, the children are growing up and need to go out and see the world. They can't stay cooped up in this small town forever. Besides, with Martha's tireless matchmaking efforts, Lia has become more and more fond of the bearded man.
"Cartel, you really aren't coming with us?"
Before Joey had even stepped out of the city gate, he asked Carter behind him another question.
"Father, come with us. I don't feel at ease leaving you here!"
Martha also urged Carter to leave with them.
"Forget it, I've seen enough of the outside world. I don't want to go anywhere else except back to Baikanburg!"
Camillo nodded in agreement upon hearing his words.
"Sam, try to persuade your father!"
Martha kicked the bearded man, signaling him to try and persuade him as well.
"Father, why don't you..."
"Take good care of Martha for me, and don't let her suffer any injustice!"
Before the bearded man could finish speaking, Carter's words cut him off.
"Mr. Joey, I've finished modifying this controller. Here you go. I've already told you how to use it. When you get there, you just need to press the switch!"
Seeing that Carter didn't seem to be following, Carl called Joey aside for a private talk. By this time, Carl no longer had the iron ring around his neck, presumably because he had managed to remove it.
"good!"
Since the spaceship was still some distance from Sandstone City, Karl, as the new city lord, did not intend to follow, but he had already informed Joey of the coordinates.
"Joey, you must protect Lady Catherine well, don't let your guard down!"
Captain Zoro also gave Joey a word of advice.
"Don't worry about that, I'll treat her like my own wife, and I'll even hold her while I sleep at night!"
Joey gave Catherine a flirtatious smile.
Catherine turned her head away, pretending not to see.
"Be serious. This time you're going to Ashfurnace City, which is not comparable to Sandstone City. You need to be careful!"
Seeing Joey's grinning face, Captain Zoro raised his voice even higher.
"Yes, yes, Captain Zoro!"
Joey immediately agreed, saying, "I'll listen to you ramble on for a bit longer, then I'll be free." This was what Joey really thought.
Everyone waved goodbye.
Joey, Catherine, Big Beard, Medusa, Martha, and Lydia, along with the little black dog on Joey's shoulder, and the kobold at the back of the group, walked into the depths of the snow-covered yellow sand.
...
A long trail of footprints was left on the snow, indicating that the group had been walking for two hours.
"Dig! Dig!"
WaWa has moved from the back of the group to the front. He's like a human navigator. Joey just told him the location, and he excitedly led the way.
Instead of moving forward, WaWa stood still and jumped around excitedly.
"This is it!"
Joey took the controller out of his pocket and gently pressed the switch.
...
There was no response.
"Joey, is this controller broken?"
The bearded man looked around but saw no change.
Joey also found it strange.
He patted the controller in his hand and pressed it a few more times, but nothing changed.
Is the power out?
Joey held the controller between his index finger and thumb, examining it closely.
"Can this thing be charged? I don't know whether to choose an Apple or Android interface?"
"Did Carl trick me? Did he give me a sample instead?"
"By the way, I've never confirmed the spaceship's authenticity with him!"
Joey became somewhat embarrassed. He had brought such a group of people on the spaceship, and if it turned out to be a scam, he would lose face big time.
"Joey, where's your spaceship?"
Catherine noticed Joey's change in expression and asked a very inopportune question.
"Don't worry, don't worry, good things take time. After all, this is a spaceship that hasn't been used for many years, so a little delay is normal!"
Joey gripped the controller in his hand, his palms already sweating.
"Buzz—"
The controller suddenly trembled slightly and began to emit a pale blue glow. The fine sweat on Joey's hands was absorbed by the controller.
"Huh? This thing can collect biometric information? Does it automatically recognize its owner?"
He was a little taken aback by the sudden appearance of such a high-tech product; it seemed that the Draenei's technology was indeed impressive.
Unfortunately, even a tiger fallen into the plains is bullied by dogs; no matter how advanced the technology, it couldn't defeat these natives.
"Boom!"
The ground beneath their feet began to tremble.
The snow covering the yellow sand began to crack, as if bamboo shoots were about to break through the soil.
What happened?
Catherine swayed slightly, her steps unsteady.
The shaking grew more and more intense, and Catherine stumbled and fell forward.
"Oh my, my Lady Catherine, what's wrong?"
Joey opened his arms and let Catherine bump into him, laughing happily.
"snort!"
Catherine didn't give him a friendly look.
"This is my spaceship coming out, everyone make way!"
