"Wawa, come back!"
Joey hid behind a tree, wanting to shout loudly, but afraid of disturbing the red dragon, whose whereabouts were unknown. However, she couldn't be too quiet, lest Digger wouldn't hear her.
Whether WaWa genuinely didn't hear or was deliberately ignoring it, he didn't even turn his head after Joey called out.
Wawa jumped straight into the red dragon's lair and started rummaging through it, seemingly looking for something he really liked.
"My God of Wealth, what are you up to now? It seems you've been too idle these past few days!"
Joey didn't want anything to happen to Dig, as Dig was his benefactor, and his wealth depended heavily on him. He had been quite idle in Ashfurnace City these past few days, and now that Dig was out, he couldn't stand it anymore.
Dead branches and pebbles were dug up and carelessly thrown out of the nest, just like a wild dog digging in the dirt.
Joey could only pray that Wawa wouldn't get into trouble. He didn't plan to go out and call him for the time being. Compared to wealth, Joey valued his life more.
There's a saying that goes, "The biggest regret in life is dying before you've spent all your money."
Clearly, Joey didn't want to be the one with regrets.
Just as Joey was still worried about the diggers in the red dragon's lair, a huge shadow suddenly enveloped the lair.
Joey immediately looked up and saw a red dragon, as big as two adult elephants, circling in the sky.
"This is a juvenile red dragon? Although this is the first time I've ever seen a real dragon, this is just too exaggerated. Does Archmage Meld have some misunderstanding about what a juvenile is?"
Joey looked at the huge figure in the sky, his back already soaked with sweat.
"Joey, is this the red dragon we're supposed to kill?"
The bearded man swallowed hard, realizing this task was a bit tricky.
From a young age, he heard his parents tell him about the dwarves' holy city of Bykanburg being occupied by a black dragon, and he has always had a psychological aversion to dragons, these ancient creatures.
Although there is a fundamental difference in strength between an immature red dragon and an adult black dragon, in the bearded man's mind, there is not much difference between the two. On the contrary, the red dragon in front of him is more frightening to him.
"Is this someone I can kill?"
Joey didn't answer the bearded man's question, but instead asked himself a question in his mind.
He hid behind a tree, hoping that Dig Dig would get what he was looking for soon and come out of the red dragon's lair, and that he wouldn't be forced to actually show himself.
The shadows hanging over the nest moved slowly, and the red dragon circled in the sky, but it was already looking down at the movements below, especially near its own nest.
"Dig! Dig!"
Suddenly, a dazzling blue light burst forth from the nest, and WaWa shouted excitedly.
"sapphire!"
Joey also noticed what was in Dig's hand; it was a sapphire the size of a fist.
Last time in the snowy Sandstone City, Digger stole a gem from the Horde orcs for himself, but it was red and is still lying in Joey's pouch.
Ever since he saw the gems, Joey has found that gold coins no longer taste so appealing. Although he still has some love for gold coins, it's nowhere near as strong as his love for gems.
"Wawa, come back quickly!"
Joey quickly shouted "Waaa!" At this moment, he didn't care whether it would attract the attention of the red dragon in the sky.
Although I've already said the old adage to avoid regrets, Joey now feels that another saying suits him even better: "People die for wealth, birds die for food!"
"roar!"
Whether it was because Joey's voice was too loud, or because he was attracted by the dazzling light emitted by the sapphire, the red dragon in the sky suddenly roared and swooped down towards its lair.
"Oh no, oh no, my sapphire!"
At this moment, Joey was no longer concerned with digging, but with the sapphire in his hand.
Joey rushed out and ran quickly towards the nest.
The sudden appearance of Joey enraged the red dragon, which was already swooping down. It seemed that its lair had long been targeted by this despicable human, and it flapped its wings even faster.
It changed its target to the suddenly appearing Joey, its feet already dangling, ready to grab Joey.
"Joey!"
Seeing Joey suddenly rush out, the bearded man, controlling his trembling legs, also rushed out and shouted after him.
The red dragon hadn't expected another person to appear, but it couldn't change direction. It just glanced at the bearded man and continued to grab at Joey.
"Captain Joey!"
Seeing that the bearded man had already rushed out, Sergeant Medes naturally had no reason to continue hiding, so he also rushed out and shouted at Joey, who was running hard.
Joey had no time to respond and could only continue running as fast as he could, but his figure had already been caught by the red dragon in the sky, and it seemed that it was only a matter of time before it caught him.
"call out!"
A sharp arrow pierced the air and flew straight toward the top of the red dragon's head.
"clang!"
The arrow struck the red dragon's forehead with a crisp sound and then fell to the ground.
"This dragon is indeed difficult to kill!"
A voice came from the left side of the nest, and a voice was seen holding a bow and arrow in his hand. It seemed that he was the one who had just fired the arrow.
"roar!"
Although the red dragon wasn't even scratched, the fact that such tiny humans dared to shoot arrows at it was enough to enrage it.
The red dragon, which had been close to Joey, suddenly flapped its wings again and flew towards the human who had fired the arrow.
"Brave warrior, I am deeply grateful and will remember your kindness!"
