Chapter 176 The Elves' Blessing

"Captain, can I take these leftovers with me?"

The meal was over, and although everyone's stomachs were already round, they still felt like they hadn't had enough. If they weren't completely stuffed, they probably would have stuffed a lot more inside.

Medes saw that there was still some left on the table, so he thought of packing it up and taking it with him.

"Okay, no problem. It's part of the 'Clean Plate Campaign,' so if you can't finish it, just take it home!"

Joey didn't have any objections. "Farmers toil under the midday sun, their sweat drips onto the soil," he thought, "we can't afford to waste food."

"No, I want to eat more later!"

Chris pouted, disagreeing with letting Medes take the food away. She was quite satisfied with Joey's meal and planned to eat more after her stomach had digested.

As soon as she finished speaking, Medes stopped tidying up the table and looked at Joey helplessly, but Joey just shrugged, indicating that he couldn't help her.

"Let him take it; it's all leftovers!"

Levia, on the other hand, became quite generous.

"But……"

Chris is alright, I'll try to get her.

"If you want to eat it, just have him make it. We can eat it fresh!"

Leiflia smiled slightly, found a chair and lay down. It seemed that eating was also a physically demanding task.

"That's true!"

Chris thought about it and realized that it made sense. Then she smiled and stopped trying to stop Medes.

"Captain Joey, shall I go first?"

Medes packed up the leftovers, glanced at the three female elves, and then looked at Joey.

"You can leave now, I have no intention of keeping you here!"

Cooking is also physical work for Joey, so it's easier if one person cooks less. Medes eats a lot, so we can't keep him here any longer.

"Okay, I'm leaving then!"

Medes carried the leftovers, opened the door, and went out. But the moment the door closed, Joey and the elves could clearly hear Medes quickening his pace to escape.

"Medes is just afraid you'll change your minds and fight him for the leftovers!"

Joey gave an awkward laugh, trying to make Medes' escape seem more plausible.

"Alright, hand over that ring on your hand!"

Levia stopped dwelling on Medes and instead extended her slender, jade-like index finger, pointing to the ring on Joey's hand.

Upon hearing Levia's words, Joey immediately tensed up. The ring on his hand was given to him by Vivian, and it contained magical energy.

Joey unconsciously reached out and pressed his hand on the finger wearing the ring, wondering what Lefreya was up to.

Last night, when they used the Transfiguration spell, they mentioned that this ring possesses the property of resisting magical attacks, and that the ring was responsible for restoring them to their original state in such a short time.

Levia asked him to hand over the ring at this point. If the shapeshifting spell were to be cast again, wouldn't it take him a long time to return to his original form? He didn't like that feeling.

Joey couldn't help but take two steps back.

"What, you don't want to give it to me?"

Levia walked slowly toward Joey, looking rather unfriendly.

Seeing this, Joey couldn't help but take a few steps back until she was blocked by the door.

"Um... Lady Lefreya, this ring was a gift from someone, and it's not worth much. If you like it, I'll buy you a better one next time!"

Joey smiled and looked sincere, hoping that Lady Lefreya would be lenient.

"Give it to her, it won't do you any harm!"

Chris burst out laughing at Joey's expression.

(You, Chris, I thought you were a decent person, but I guess I was wrong. Now you're helping Levia instead of me. I shouldn't have cooked this meal!)

Joey felt a pang of annoyance.

However, given the principle that a wise man doesn't suffer a loss in the present moment, and the saying that a wise man knows when to yield, Joey slowly took off the ring on his hand.

"Can you hurry up? Stop dawdling!"

Joey was urged on by Levia, and had no choice but to speed up his work.

Here, take it!

Joey reluctantly tossed the ring to Levia.

Levia wasn't angry; she simply caught it with one hand.

Joey was like a deflated balloon. Although he wanted to escape from this place, he was worried because Levia hadn't spoken, so he didn't dare to leave directly.

After receiving the ring, Leiflia returned to the square table and sat down.

The square table had been cleaned by Medes, and there wasn't even a trace of oil from the leftover food on it. Chris and Ichiya were already sitting there, not having moved an inch.

"You go first?"

Levelia held the ring between her thumb and forefinger and offered it to Chris.

Joey became puzzled upon seeing this, wondering what she was up to.

Chris didn't reply. She simply took the ring, examined it for a moment, and then muttered a string of prayers that Joey didn't quite understand.

(Is it ancient Elvish? It sounds somewhat similar to modern Elvish, but I can't understand it at all!)

Joey was still trying to decipher the meaning of Chris's prayer when he saw her put the ring in her hand to her lips and gently kiss it after finishing the prayer.

(Huh, what's going on here? Instead of kissing me, this handsome man, she's set her sights on this ring. But this ring hasn't even taken human form yet, so some of its functions aren't quite complete!)

Joey muttered to herself, but dared not say it aloud.

When Chris's lips left the ring, the seemingly ordinary ring began to glow with a pale blue light.
