"Joey, try this bun, it's really good!"
The bearded man's mouth was stuffed full, and his speech was muffled. Before he could even swallow his food, he held out a large meat bun to Joey.
"Didn't I say I wasn't going to eat it? This helmet is such a hassle to take off!"
Joey tapped the helmet on his head and said irritably.
How could he not know that these buns were delicious? Even if he hadn't eaten them himself, just seeing the bearded man's disheveled eating manner, he could imagine that the buns must taste pretty good.
"Then just take it off. There are no enemies here. Didn't you say we'd wait until they started fighting before we went in?"
The bearded man spoke casually, and as soon as there was a little room left in his mouth, he stuffed another large meat bun into it.
"Hey, even the wisest person can make a mistake, and even the most foolish person can have a stroke of genius. I totally agree with what you said, Bearded Man!"
Although Joey was a cautious and prudent person, watching the two of them eat made him quite hungry.
Besides, it shouldn't be that coincidental. It's unlikely that the female undead would suddenly appear right after I took off my helmet!
Without hesitation, Joey held the helmet in both hands and slowly dragged it upwards to remove the ill-fitting helmet.
Joey took the large meat bun handed to him by the bearded man and stuffed the whole thing into his mouth.
"Mmm...it's really good. One bite and the juices burst out!"
"Medes, bring me a few of those pastries too!"
Once he let loose, Joey's vigilance relaxed, and all he wanted to do was eat to his heart's content.
A lookout tower on the castle.
"This guy is so careless! At such an important and tense time, he actually went out to eat!"
Puff put down his binoculars, fuming with rage.
From the moment Joey stepped out of the castle, Puff had been watching him closely, and now he'd caught him red-handed.
"Captain, look, it's almost noon, shouldn't we..."
"A guard behind Puff asked in a low voice."
"Today is Lady Catherine's birthday, we must ensure the safety of the city and cannot let our guard down!"
Puff's voice was like thunder, making the guard who had just spoken tremble with fear.
"Gurgle—"
But as soon as he finished speaking, his stomach protested with a growl.
"Keep your stomach in check, everything will be over after today's celebration!"
Puff, looking slightly embarrassed, continued shouting at the guard who had spoken earlier, seemingly trying to frame him for the stomach rumbling.
"Yes, Captain Pouf!"
The guard dared not speak out against his anger and could only agree.
"Huh?"
Joey, who was enjoying his meal, suddenly stopped, looked around, and looked puzzled.
"What's wrong, Joey?"
The bearded man immediately noticed that Joey's expression was off, so he asked.
"It feels like someone is watching me!"
Joey lowered his head and looked around warily again, but still found nothing. However, the feeling of unease lingered.
Upon hearing Joey's words, both the bearded man and Medes looked up and around.
"There it is!"
Medes put down the pastry in his hand and pointed towards the observation deck, where a reflected white light shone in their direction.
"Is it Pouf?"
The bearded man looked at the observation tower, the very spot where Puff had stood back then.
"wrong!"
Joey followed Medes's gaze. Although the white light was most likely caused by the telescope in Puff's hand, the feeling was completely different.
Beard and Medes became wary. Although Joey usually liked to joke, they knew he wouldn't make such a joke at this moment.
"This feeling seems so familiar!"
Joey's back was soaked with sweat, which made him very uncomfortable.
Beard and Melder immediately stood up and stood in front of Joey, one in front and one behind.
"Joey, what exactly happened?"
The bearded man tightened his grip on the warhammer, his eyes fixed ahead.
"Captain, we've only just come out and we've already been spotted?"
Medes also drew the steel sword that Camito had newly forged.
"It's not us who are being targeted, it's me who's being targeted, and I'm all alone!"
Joey had already guessed the owner of those eyes in the shadows—it was none other than the female undead thief, Lan!
"She's like a persistent ghost. But I guess I'm just unlucky. I just went out for a stroll and ran into her again. What a curse!"
Joey cursed inwardly, extremely annoyed.
"No way, it can't be that female ghost again, can it?"
The bearded man also tensed up. It seemed that the only thing targeting Joey was that female undead. If Joey was saying that someone was watching him from the shadows, it was definitely that female undead.
"It's her! Be careful!"
Although Joey still doesn't have an effective way to fight off the female undead, his sixth sense has become more and more accurate since he switched to the hunter class.
All three were extremely nervous, and they were still very wary of this unseen enemy.
"That despicable human!"
Meanwhile, Lan, hiding in the distance, stared at Joey with a fierce look in her eyes.
She had only been out of the house for a short while when she spotted the three figures. At first, she thought they were just guards from the castle on routine patrol, but after following them for a while, she was horrified when one of the powerful figures took off his helmet.
She had clearly stabbed him deeply with her dagger, and the blood flowing from this human had stained the area red. She had even checked it, but she never expected that he was still alive and standing right in front of her, eating heartily. It was as if she was being slapped in the face.
