Who is Joey Brown?
The open space had been occupied by soldiers who had lined up in formation. The soldier who had been on horseback looked at the three people beside the pit and asked.
"It's me!"
Joey took a step forward and looked up at him with neither arrogance nor servility.
Give him a horse!
The sergeant glanced at Joey, somewhat disdainfully, but still spoke to the other soldier beside him.
"yes!"
A warhorse was immediately led to Joey.
"My name is Cameron Sheeran. I am here on the orders of Field Marshal Garp to receive your command!"
Cameron did not dismount after speaking, but his eyes still showed disdain as he looked at Joey.
"Cameron Sheeran?"
Before Joey could answer, Medes had already stepped up behind him.
He whispered in Joey's ear, "Captain, this Cameron Sheeran is a member of the Royal Knights. Although I've never met him, I've heard rumors about him. He's an arrogant guy and not easy to get along with!"
With Medes' reminder, Joey immediately went to meet him, his face full of smiles, but they were all covered by his helmet and no one could see them.
"Hello, Marshal Garp mentioned you to me, but I didn't expect you to be so handsome. You are indeed awe-inspiring!"
Joey didn't care whether Garp had mentioned this to him or not. Since he was sent by Garp, he must be someone who obeys Garp. As long as he was using Garp's name, he still had some say in front of him.
However, it's understandable that some of these people from the capital are arrogant, since they usually only meet high-ranking officials and nobles, not someone as insignificant as themselves.
Joey will flatter him first, saying nice things, and if he really doesn't know what's good for him, then it's not too late to turn against him.
"Thank you for the compliment, Captain Joey. I didn't expect you to be such a talented young man!"
With Joey's kind words spoken first, Cameron, despite his pride, couldn't immediately put on airs, so he also praised Joey, and the two of them flattered each other.
Joey mounted his horse with fluid movements, squeezed the horse's belly with his legs, and pulled on the reins to walk to Cameron's side. The two stood side by side.
"Captain Joey's armor is pretty good, but his helmet looks a bit old!"
Seeing Joey standing next to him, Cameron suddenly launched an attack.
"Oh, it was just to avoid being seen by certain people in the city. Now that we're out, we don't need to wear it anymore!"
Joey simply took off his old helmet and tossed it to the ground.
With a clang, the helmet rolled right to the feet of Cameron's warhorse.
Cameron gave the reins a light tug, and his horse reared up, kicking the helmet off its feet.
(Hey, this guy, he's definitely not easy to get along with, and he's really petty. He's already started messing with me!)
Joey saw this scene, but didn't reveal his thoughts. Instead, he winked at the bearded man and Medes, signaling them to come over.
"You two go find a horse too!"
Big Beard and Medes are on my side, so as their leader, I have to do my part to give them some benefits. This means of transportation is something I can arrange for them.
"yes!"
The bearded man and Medes immediately understood, saluted Joey, and turned to look at the soldier who had just provided Joey with the horse.
The soldier hesitated for a moment, then turned to look at Cameron.
Cameron was displeased, but he still nodded to the soldier.
Two more warhorses were brought out, and the bearded man and Medes mounted their horses, guiding them to Joey's side and standing behind him.
Cameron was displeased to see two more men on horseback beside him, but he didn't show it too much.
"Captain Joey, what should our next steps be?"
Cameron hadn't forgotten his mission. Seeing that Joey was ready, he asked about the purpose of their trip.
"How should it be arranged? Didn't Field Marshal Garp tell you?"
Joey assumed that Karp had already made arrangements. Even if he hadn't, didn't Archmage Meld have other plans when he set up the teleportation array? He hadn't received any other information, but Cameron hadn't either, which was a bit strange. He was just a fledgling squad leader, and compared to this member of the Royal Knights, he was indeed somewhat difficult to convince.
"No one but me knows where we are right now, but I only know where we are, not the specifics!"
Although Cameron was dissatisfied with Joey, as a member of the Knights of Honor and Discipline, Marshal Cap's orders still carried great authority, forcing him to take this mission very seriously.
"I see..."
After hearing Cameron's words, Joey fell into deep thought.
(It seems that Garp and Melder did a very good job of keeping this operation secret. Either there is a traitor in the capital, or Marshal Garp does not completely trust Cameron!)
"Before you arrived, tribal armies were already gathering southwest of Ashfury City, and they're probably advancing towards it now! Our mission is to stop these emerging enemies and ensure the safety of Ashfury City!"
Since there was no specific mission, Joey decided to come up with one on the spot. He understood that these people who had been in the military camp for a long time took obeying orders as their primary duty, and the mission objective had to be clear, otherwise they would not know why they were fighting.
As for protecting Catherine, Joey felt there was no need to tell Cameron for the time being. Since neither Karp nor the others had mentioned it to him, it was best for him to say nothing at this time and focus on doing a good job of protecting her today.
"tribe?"
Upon hearing that the tribe's army was gathering, Cameron's expression immediately turned serious, and his disdainful attitude towards Joey softened instantly. It seemed that he was well aware of what was important and urgent.
"How many of them are there? What types of troops do they have? Who is their commander? What is their purpose in suddenly attacking Ashfurnace City?"
Cameron's professionalism is quite high; upon hearing Joey mention the tribe, he immediately began to think about it.
"I'm not sure, but I'm guessing they also got here via a teleportation array!"
Joey said frankly.
"I think we should send out scouts to investigate first. Since their target is Ashfury City, let's head there now. Once the scouts return, we can decide on our strategy!"
Joey valued team unity in the lead-up to battle, especially since this army of nearly 10,000 men was brought by Cameron. He knew he was only a temporary commander, and Cameron was the core of the team.
At least, that's the case for now.
"Okay, I agree!"
"Send word to the scouts: the tribal forces to the southwest are to scout ahead, but not to go too far. They will meet up outside the gates of Ashfurnace City!"
Cameron gave the order directly, and Joey had no objections. As long as the command was correct and the company could make a profit, it wouldn't be a problem for him to be the honorary chairman.
