"So you two are planning to stay here and not come with us to Baron City?"
Daines wasn't really concerned about whether Joey had brought them here on purpose; he had just asked the question out of habit.
Deep down, he still hoped that Joey could continue to stay with them. Although they had arrived in a new town where they could reveal their identities and seek protection, the town was still a mixed bag of people, and he was always a little uneasy about having someone he didn't know around him.
Catherine was initially overjoyed that the sailboat was about to dock, but after hearing what Danes and Joey said, her excitement faded noticeably, and she waited for Joey's reply.
Although Joey wasn't a very likable guy, after spending so many days together, Catherine had begun to develop a strange fondness for him.
No one had ever bullied her like this before, but no one had ever dared to point out her mistakes, making her realize that she also had many shortcomings.
"I promised Captain Puff to protect Lady Catherine and prevent the tribe from harming her. Having arrived here, I can say that I have fulfilled my mission!"
"Big Beard and I are planning to try our luck here; maybe we can find a big gold nugget weighing several kilograms!"
Joey didn't put down the helm; the sailboat was still going fast, and his voice was barely audible, almost drowned out by the sea breeze.
"You think 100 gold coins isn't enough?"
Catherine was a little angry. She had clearly promised Joey 100 gold coins as a reward after arriving in Ashfurnace City. She didn't understand why he didn't want to come with her and instead wanted to stay and pan for gold.
“My dear Lady Catherine, please remember those 100 gold coins. I was just trying my luck here. If I realize I don’t have that luck, I might come back to you to redeem those 100 gold coins!”
Joey wasn't going to give up those 100 gold coins willingly; he needed to have a serious talk with Catherine about it.
"Fine, fine, go wherever you want. Anyway, you're just someone I picked up randomly!"
Catherine grumbled, and after venting her frustration, she kept staring in the direction of the port, unwilling to look at Joey again.
Daines sighed. Since Catherine had already spoken, there was no need for him to continue trying to persuade her. After all, Catherine was the one in charge now, not him, the advisor.
Joey shrugged, looking indifferent.
I am just a wanderer who wants to travel to the ends of the earth. No one can make me stay for more than thirty-two days, including this beautiful Catherine!
