Chapter 33 The Mayor's Son's Business

"I'm the mayor's son! If you treat me like this, I'll tell my father!"

"You've only borrowed a few dozen gold coins from us and you're already turning your backs on us? I'll make sure your bank goes out of business!"

"In a few days, I'll be rich, and then I'll pay you all back!"

A somewhat shrill middle-aged man's voice came through the door to Joey's ears, followed by the voices of several goblins trying to persuade him. It seemed that a son of a high-ranking official had come to cause trouble at the bank.

"Who was that important person we just received? They just left me there and ignored me. I want to see who this big shot in Gold Rush Town is that I haven't met before!"

"Bang—"

The door to the room where Joey and the bearded man were was kicked open, and a middle-aged man in a gentleman's suit appeared in front of Joey.

With his pointed face and monkey-like features, he would definitely be a professional villain in a TV series, completely eliminating the need for makeup.

"I'm sorry, dear Mr. Joey, I've disturbed you!"

Phil immediately rushed to Joey, bowed, and apologized to him.

"It's okay, I'll take the money and leave right away!"

Joey had no intention of getting involved with this villain who suddenly appeared; he just wanted to get his money and leave as soon as possible.

After kicking open the door, the middle-aged man was immediately drawn to the pile of silver coins on the floor.

Upon hearing Joey's words, Phil handed Joey the bag of gold coins he was holding, while repeatedly apologizing.

"Who are you?"

When the middle-aged man saw the money bag in Joey's hand, and then looked at Joey and the bearded man's well-dressed appearance, he understood everything.

He put on a kind face and asked Joey with a smile.

"I'm just passing by, I'll be leaving right away!"

Joey doesn't want to associate with these good-for-nothing second-generation officials who only know how to eat, drink, and have fun. Although it's said that having more friends means having more options when you're out and about, these kinds of "friends" not only won't create a new path for you, but they'll also block all the paths you already have.

He gave a perfunctory reply, handed Phil nine silver coins, and then tried to walk past the middle-aged man.

"Don't rush off!"

The middle-aged man stopped Joey.

"My name is Charlie, and I'm the son of the mayor of Gold Rush Town. May I introduce myself?"

After he finished speaking, he stretched his right hand directly in front of Joey, almost touching the bag of gold coins in his arms.

The bearded man couldn't sit still any longer. He squeezed in front of Joey, looked up at the mayor's son who was two heads taller than him, and his anger was building up.

"I'm talking to your master, you dwarf, go stand aside!"

Charlie didn't give a friendly look when a dwarf rushed up to him.

Within the territory of Gold Rush Town, he had no fear of a dwarf threatening him.

“Mr. Charlie, your loan is due long ago. According to the bank’s rules, you must repay the money immediately. Given that you are the mayor’s son, we have not pressed you for payment. However, since you want to continue taking out a loan, there is really no way to make an exception!”

Phil squeezed next to the bearded man and looked up at the mayor's son, offering his advice.

He wasn't just saying this to Charlie; he was also directly informing Joey of this situation, letting Joey know that this person was in debt and that the 90 gold coins he had just withdrawn from the bank needed to be carefully protected. He added that if Joey found it too difficult, he could consider depositing them in their bank.

What is professionalism? This is professionalism. It's an ordinary sentence, but it has several layers of meaning. It means someone is a key member of the business.

"Phil, what nonsense are you talking about? Don't say such unfounded things in front of my new friend!"

Charlie glanced down at Phil and said irritably.

"Your name is Joey, right? That's what Phil called you!"

Ignoring the bearded man's fierce gaze, Charlie took two steps to the side and then looked directly at Joey.

“My name is indeed Joey, but this isn’t my servant, he’s my brother, the real brother!”

Joey remained good-natured, but he felt it necessary to remind him about his misunderstanding that the bearded man was a servant.

Joey's words surprised Charlie, and Phil also began to feel guilty for his misjudgment, feeling that he should not have misjudged the customer. But the most touched person was still the bearded man, as Joey had stated on many occasions that he and Joey were like brothers.

"Oh, that was indeed a misunderstanding, but your fathers certainly have unique tastes!"

Charlie chuckled softly, as if he had thought of something funny.

"How about this, I'd really like to be friends with you, but I don't know what you like. How about we make a deal?"

Charlie wasn't willing to let Joey, his moneybag, go so easily, but he also realized that Joey wasn't really interested in talking to him, so he came up with this suggestion.

"trade?"

Joey was also a little curious. Did this Gold Rush Town have any other businesses besides dealing in gold sands?

Starting a business, though difficult, remains a long-held dream for many working people. If the first pot of gold they earned from selling alcohol could immediately end their working lives and allow them to become their own boss, it would be an excellent thing.

Seeing that Joey was interested, Charlie leaned close to Joey's ear and whispered, "This isn't the place to talk, let's go outside!"

Although Joey was wary of the mayor's son, he still had his eye on the business.

"Okay, let's go outside and talk!"

Joey responded with a comment and then walked outside with the bearded man.
