Chapter 40 The Reason for Staying

Catherine remained silent until the two finished breakfast and left the hotel.

She was the first to leave the hotel and headed straight for the spot where they had parked their sailboat the night before.

Joey, carrying a pile of supplies, followed slowly behind.

As she passed the notice board, Catherine stopped. She glanced back at Joey and, seeing that he was walking slowly, stood in front of the notice board and began to examine the missing person posters filled with the longing of loved ones.

As Joey slowly approached, Catherine stepped forward again, seemingly deliberately keeping her distance from him.

"Hey, you're still sulking with me!"

Joey muttered something to herself and deliberately quickened her pace.

"Big brother!"

Joey had just passed the sign when she heard the voice of the little girl she had met that morning again.

"What happened?"

Joey dropped all the supplies and rushed to Catherine's side.

He craned his neck and looked around along the shore, but he couldn't see his sailboat anywhere.

He initially thought that Catherine had been upset and had secretly untied the sailboat's ropes, but the empty water surface showed no sign of the sailboat, indicating that someone must have tampered with it the night before.

"Who the hell dared to steal Uncle Joey's things?"

"Damn it!"

"Damn!" (referring to a type of plant)

Joey launched into a long, rambling speech at the empty surface of the water.

Perhaps tired of yelling, Joey suddenly let out a long sigh.

He turned and looked in the direction of the village.

"Looks like there's no other way. I have to go back and find the thief who stole the boat!"

Joey's tone was full of helplessness, but a smile appeared on his face.
