"Waaaaah..."
Joey made a whimpering sound as he prepared to turn around and fight back, since his limbs were not restrained.
"Joey, it's me, Big Beard!"
The person behind Joey, who had covered his mouth, whispered something in his ear.
"The bearded man?"
Joey calmed down and stopped struggling.
The hand covering his mouth was also removed.
"It really is you, Big Beard! I knew your rough body would be disliked even by the King of Hell!"
Joey was quite excited to see the bearded man standing in front of him again, full of energy, though what he was saying sounded a bit strange.
"Who is Yama, the King of Hell? Is he a relative of yours?"
"Pah, pah, pah! You think the King of Hell is your relative? Your whole family is related to the King of Hell! You're just a child spouting nonsense!"
"Alright, then I'll accept this King Yama as my relative!"
The bearded man stopped arguing and simply accepted Yama as his relative.
It was only then that Joey noticed that there were two other people standing behind the bearded man, staring intently at him.
"Who are these two...?"
Joey became more vigilant. After all, in this gold rush town, he only knew Big Beard as a relative; everyone else was someone he needed to keep his distance from.
"Oh, I forgot to introduce them. These two are the people who saved me last time, but I don't know who they are!"
The bearded man was honest; he was willing to follow two people he didn't know at all.
"You think you can just follow them after they saved you once? You should at least have asked them about your background!"
"We asked, but they won't tell us!"
"Then what?"
"And then? Then I won't ask anymore!"
The bearded man's nonchalant attitude left Joey speechless.
"Sigh, I really worry about you when I'm not by your side. With a brain like yours, you'll be sold out sooner or later and still be counting the money for the seller!"
Joey was disappointed in him, but thankfully the bearded man hadn't lost any weight; in fact, he seemed to have gained some weight again after a few days.
"Is he the Joey Brown you've been mentioning?"
"That exceptionally intelligent and talented person?"
The two men behind the bearded man seemed to have a lot of doubt about those two sentences.
Joey was surprised that the bearded man was promoting him in this way. Although Joey was a humble person, he couldn't refuse the bearded man's good intentions at this time.
So he puffed out his chest and accepted these descriptions of himself quite naturally.
"That's right, I am the embodiment of both good looks and talent, Joey Brown is me!"
A bunch of black lines appeared on the faces of the two people.
Hmph, you don't believe me? Looks like if I don't show you my true skills, you'll really think I, Joey Brown, am just a name without substance.
"You two are from Saibanda, right? There are six of you here in total, all from the Second Knights!"
"Furthermore, I also know that you came here to investigate Goodman, the Son of Teamfight Tactics!"
Shocked, the two men behind the bearded man stared wide-eyed at Joey Brown, whom they were meeting for the first time, their jaws practically dropping to the floor.
"How could this be? How did you know who we are?"
“We’ve been here for months, and they still haven’t been able to confirm our identities. How did you know?”
The two recovered from their shock and looked at Joey with disbelief on his face.
"I was sent by Captain Zoro to assist you. You are under my command for the time being!"
Joey's statement was correct in the first half, but the second half was something he added on the spot.
After all, the task is the same, and the action must be directed by one person, otherwise chaos will ensue.
"Commander Zoro? What evidence do you have?"
A man walked up to Joey, somewhat skeptical of his words. After all, they had been operating in secrecy, and the sudden appearance of someone claiming to be their leader made them uneasy.
"Hey, take a look at this!"
Joey wasn't intimidated by him and simply pulled out a dagger from his pocket and threw it at him.
The man took the dagger, glanced at it, and immediately recognized it as Zoro's personal dagger, which he always carried with him and never parted from his side.
He winked at another person, who then came over, took the dagger, and examined it.
Having confirmed that it was Zoro's dagger-wielding hand, the two believed Joey's words without a doubt. After all, soldiers are duty-bound to obey orders, and since Joey had produced the token, they naturally did as he said.
At that moment, Joey felt a surge of secret joy.
The dagger was indeed real, and it was indeed given to him by Captain Zoro. The purpose was to ensure that the first few people sent over would accept Joey's identity and not make things difficult for him. However, making Joey their leader was not Captain Zoro's intention at all.
Joey's ability to make a big deal out of nothing is truly amazing.
One of them respectfully handed the dagger back to Joey.
"Corporal Orf, Third Company, Second Knights Order!"
"Private, Third Company, Second Knights Order!"
The two men introduced themselves with their unit numbers, ranks, and names, indicating that they had accepted Joey as their new leader.
This time, it was Beard's turn to be dumbfounded. In just a few days, the person who saved him had become Joey's subordinate. This Joey Brown he knew was too powerful.
His brain was completely overloaded, but fortunately, following Joey's instructions meant he didn't need to use his brain at all; he just had to do what Joey said.
"Take me to meet up with the others first, I have something important to say!"
Joey immediately got into character. He had earned his position as the squad leader himself, so he had to enjoy it for a few days, right?
