Chapter 69 Return to Saipan

Joey, piloting a sailboat, led Big Beard and Little Black to Saipan first.

Sergeant Medes led the others back by land.

"Joey, why does this little black cat always like to sit on your head?"

What if it poops?

As soon as the sailboat docked, the bearded man couldn't help but remind Joey of something.

"What's wrong, Big Beard? Are you jealous?"

"Don't worry, even with a little black cat, my love for you will never change!"

Joey caught up with the bearded man and gave him a squeeze on the shoulder; the muscle seemed to have gotten even stronger.

"Meow!"

The little black dog on its head barked twice, sounding somewhat unhappy.

"Look, bearded man, you've made my little black dog angry!"

"Quickly say a few auspicious words for us!"

Having traveled this far, Joey had gained a general understanding of the black cat's temperament and could judge its mood by its meows.

The bearded man always granted Joey's requests, but he was unsure how to respond to Joey's request for auspicious words.

He kept scratching his head, seemingly trying to search his mind for auspicious words.

Suddenly his eyes lit up, and he looked excitedly into Joey's eyes, saying solemnly, "I wish you a long and happy marriage, many children, and many more joyous occasions like this one!"

It turns out that this was auspicious saying that Joey taught Big Beard to recite when he was trying to crash a wedding banquet for a couple in Linhai Town. He was sure he hadn't said anything wrong.

Joey's face had already fallen, and his big beard showed no sign of caring.

"Big Beard, do you want me to have a baby with a cat?"

As Joey spoke, he smacked the bearded man's forehead hard, like striking a wooden fish, producing a crisp sound.

The bearded man dared not utter a sound, but he felt extremely aggrieved.

People don't want to talk, but you force them to. Then they get upset. These are the only auspicious sayings I know!

This is really tough for me, Sam Blackstone!

But for some reason, the little black dog on Joey's head showed a hint of shyness in its eyes.

The two of them playfully walked towards Zoro's office.

With Zoro's authorization, he carried the dagger and moved unimpeded, quickly arriving at the door.

Knock knock knock!

Joey gently knocked on the door.

"Enter!"

Zoro's extremely calm voice came from behind the door.

Joey pushed the door open and went in.

"Huh? You're back already?"

Captain Zoro sat behind a long table, holding a letter in his hand.

Seeing Joey come in, he put down the letter in his hand, somewhat puzzled as to why he had returned.

He tilted his head slightly, taking in the muscular physique of the bearded man behind Joey.

"The matter is settled, so I'm back!"

"Sergeant Medes is leading the others back by land; it might take them another two days to arrive!"

Joey took the black cat off his head and put it on his shoulder. When he was talking to Captain Zoro, he felt strange having a little cat on his head.

"Is it all done?"

Captain Zoro simply placed the letter back on the long table and casually picked up a book to cover it.

He sat up straight, waiting for his answer.

Clearly, Captain Zoro was eagerly anticipating what Joey would say next.

"Goodman is dead, but we've killed everyone who killed him!"

Joey cleared his throat. After delivering this news, he didn't know if the seasoned veteran commander in front of him could handle it.

Although Captain Zoro was mentally prepared, a fleeting look of melancholy crossed his eyes when he heard Joey's words.

This was a heartbreaking moment for a father who had lost his son. Although brief, it was the most he could do as the leader of the Second Order of the Saibanda.

He had to be strong, and he had to be even stronger in front of Joey, an outsider.

"Okay, I understand. You can go back and rest now!"

"It's the same room as before!"

"As for the dwarf you brought, he can stay in the room next to yours for now!"

Zoro's expression had returned to normal; grief seemed to pass so easily. Perhaps this was the mental fortitude of a captain who had witnessed so much life and death.

"Commander Zoro, aren't you going to ask who killed your son?" Joey was a little surprised. It was really strange that Commander Zoro didn't ask who killed his son.

"I'll ask Sergeant Medes about the rest when he gets back!"

"You all go and rest first!"

Captain Zoro removed the book covering the letter, picked it up with his right hand, unfolded it, and began to read it carefully again.

Seeing this, Joey stopped talking. He had wanted to ask about the organization that Commander Zoro had promised, but since Zoro had already let him leave and Sergeant Medes hadn't returned yet, completing the mission was just something he had said.

He turned around and prepared to leave with the bearded man.

"Oh, right, there's one more thing. Keep an eye on that cat on you!"

Zoro's words came from behind again.

Joey was puzzled and turned around to ask him what else he meant, but he saw that Joey's eyes were fixed on the letter and he did not look up.

Forget it, Joey was too lazy to think about it. She figured that her spirit pet must have been recognized by the knowledgeable captain, who had given her a special instruction.

When Joey returned to the place he had stayed before, he didn't rush inside. Instead, he knocked on the door of the room next door.

Who is it?

Vivian's sweet voice came through the door.

"Joey Brown, a great traveler!"
