Chapter 546 Beyond the Limits
The third level: power fusion, reaching a state beyond the limit.
“There are three layers in total.” Yue Qing examined it closely. “The first layer has no side effects; it simply stimulates potential.”
Her daughter also came over, and golden light gathered in her palm.
Strange things happened.
The runes on the stone tablet flew towards the daughter on their own and hovered around her.
“This…” Silver Tiger was stunned.
The runes entered her daughter's body, and she closed her eyes as a brilliant golden light shone forth.
She opened her eyes in a very short time.
"I've learned it!" the daughter exclaimed excitedly. "Mom, I've learned the first level!"
Yueqing looked at her daughter in shock: "So fast?"
"Yes, those runes tell me what to do." The daughter stretched out her hand, and golden light condensed into a small ball of light in her palm. "It's much stronger than before."
The saber-toothed tiger leaned closer and sniffed: "It's definitely different. This child's bloodline... is very special."
“She is an awakened Golden Lion bloodline.” Yue Qing said thoughtfully, “She may resonate with the secret techniques of the Holy Clan.”
Yin Hu looked at his daughter, a complex mix of emotions flashing in his eyes: "Will this affect her health?"
"The first floor is fine." Yueqing checked her daughter's condition. "She has a strong vitality and can withstand it completely."
“I want to try too.” The son climbed up to the stone tablet.
Tentacles extended and wrapped around the surface of the stone tablet.
In an instant, the stone tablet shook violently.
Black lines spread from the son's tentacles, intertwining with the runes on the stone tablet.
"What happened?" Silver Tiger asked nervously.
“His tentacles… are evolving.” Yueqing looked on in surprise.
The son's tentacles began to change, transforming from soft limbs into tough ones, with a metallic sheen appearing on their surface.
Even more strangely, tiny barbs grew from the ends of the tentacles, exuding a dangerous aura.
"Does it hurt?" Yueqing asked.
“It doesn’t hurt.” The son withdrew his tentacle and looked at the object curiously. “I feel very comfortable, as if this is how it should be.”
He tried waving his tentacles and easily sliced through the stone slabs on the ground.
“This power…” Silver Tiger exclaimed in amazement.
The saber-toothed tiger circled its son once: "Interesting. His bloodline is merging with the secret techniques of the Holy Clan, resulting in a mutation."
"Is it a good thing or a bad thing?" Yueqing worried.
“Good thing,” the saber-toothed tiger said confidently. “This mutation makes him stronger and more stable.”
Yueqing breathed a sigh of relief and returned to the stone tablet.
She took a deep breath and reached out to touch the rune.
Much gentler than the inscriptions on the wall, the runes slowly flowed into my body. The method for cultivating the first level of the secret technique was imprinted in my mind, crystal clear.
"Bloodline resonance..." Yueqing circulated the power within her body according to the method.
A warm current surged from her heart, flowing through her veins and throughout her body. She felt every cell in her body trembling, as if something long dormant had been awakened.
Golden light emanated from her, softer yet more profound than her daughter's.
"Success." Yueqing opened her eyes, a ball of light condensing in her hand.
This light is different from the power used in the previous treatments; it contains a purer form of life energy.
"Let's see how it goes." She walked over to the saber-toothed tiger.
The saber-toothed tiger's previous injuries had not fully healed, and there was a deep wound on its shoulder.
Yueqing pressed the light onto the wound, and life energy surged in.
The wound began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye. New flesh grew, leaving no scar.
"So fast?" the saber-toothed tiger exclaimed in surprise. "It's much better than your previous healing spell."
"The first layer mainly amplifies existing abilities." Yueqing felt the changes within her body. "My healing ability has increased at least tenfold."
Silver Tiger looked at her: "How are you feeling? Are you feeling unwell?"
"Not at the moment." Yueqing shook her head. "The first level consumes very little life force, and I can handle it perfectly well."
"And what about the second floor?"
Yueqing looked at the stone tablet, where the runes on the second layer were flashing with a blood-red light.
“The second level… cannot be attempted lightly.” She frowned. “It requires converting life force into attack energy, which comes at a great cost.”
"Then don't bother learning it," Silver Tiger said. "The first level is enough."
“No.” Yueqing shook her head. “I need to learn it; it can save my life in a critical moment. But there’s no rush now. Let my body adapt to the first level first.”
The daughter nodded in agreement: "I also need to take it slowly and not be too hasty."
The son waved his tentacles: "I'm fine, this evolution is quite comfortable."
“Your situation is special,” the saber-toothed tiger said. “Those tentacles are not ordinary animal features; they are more like organs of some ancient creature.”
"Ancient creatures?" Yueqing keenly sensed something. "You mean..."
“I saw something similar before I went into slumber,” the saber-toothed tiger recalled. “It was a creature that lived in the deep sea, with countless tentacles, each of which could fight independently. It was very powerful and terrifying.”
Looking at her son, Yueqing felt a mix of emotions welling up inside her.
The two children the birthing system gave her were indeed extraordinary.
Just then, the stone tablet suddenly trembled.
The runes on the surface all lit up, emitting a dazzling light.
A line of blood-red text appeared:
"The legacy has been passed on, but the price will be paid."
"What do you mean?" Silver Tiger became wary.
The moment the words left his mouth, the stone tablet shattered with a deafening crash.
A black vortex appeared within the fragments.
Calls echoed from within the vortex, and everyone heard different voices.
Silver Tiger heard the shouts of the Tiger Clan.
What Yueqing heard was the sound of a patient's heartbeat in the operating room.
The daughter heard a warm call.
The son heard the sound of the deep sea.
"Don't listen!" the saber-toothed tiger roared. "It's just an illusion!"
But this illusion is much more powerful than before.
The black vortex expanded, swallowing everyone inside.
Before her consciousness faded into darkness, Yueqing only saw the last line of words slowly emerge on the fragments of the stone tablet:
"To gain divine power, one must first experience life and death."
In the darkness, Yueqing felt her body falling.
The wind howled in her ears, mixed with eerie whispers. The whispers were in an ancient beast language, which she couldn't understand, yet they inexplicably made her heart pound.
After an unknown amount of time, I finally stepped onto solid ground.
The surroundings were deathly silent.
"Silver Tiger?" Yueqing called out tentatively.
There was no response.
She conjured a ball of light, illuminating the surroundings. The place resembled a vast cave, its walls covered in black vines. Eerie flowers bloomed on the vines, their petals a rotten purple.
"Mother!" Her daughter's voice came from afar.
Yueqing ran towards the sound and saw her daughter hugging her son, hiding behind a boulder. The two children were pale and trembling.
"What's wrong?" Yueqing hugged them.
“Over there…” the son pointed deep into the cave, “there’s something moving.”
Yueqing looked in the direction he was pointing.
Deep within the cave, a pair of scarlet eyes slowly opened.
Then, a second pair, a third pair… countless eyes lit up in the darkness.
"Vampire." Silver Tiger's voice came from the side.
